old-english meal

You've probably never had a proper cooked English meal or know exactly what "traditional" English food is, so I'll forgive you for your ignorance.

This thread was about comparables, not to start slagging off England again!! As for nice food in Poland, I can't honestly say it was out of this world, it was at best ordinary, it hardly compares with Spanish or Italian or for that matter Greek!

Do Polish companies allow sebaticals? a friend of mine took a 12 month sebatical from work to go travelling, she's been with the company for about 6 years and they allowed it.

Life / Euro Lotto £100,000,000 - Can you play in poland? [7]

Whilst most lotteries are played only by the residents of a single country, Euro Millions has participants from no less than nine countries, Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Can you buy tickets in Poland?

NO...you could ask someone at home to buy one for you.

Can I provide toeprints instead ?

You don't need to provide anything Mr B :)

... just maybe the Spanish authorities realise that the British migrants are CREATING jobs for Spanish nationals

What a load of Rubbish, the British provide jobs for the British - simple - my friend gets her insurance for her apartment from an English run insurance company in Spain, I go to an English hairdresser who owns her own salon when I go to Spain, when I go shopping I buy food in a Spanish super market and the staff are Spanish, When I go to the Bank in Spain the staff are Spanish when I go for a drink on the complex I drink in bars that are Spanish owned and have Spanish working there and I go in bars that are owned by British and have English staff..oh and the English builders are working on sites that are owned by foreign investors, not Spanish...ARSE, think before you speak - the English look after their own in Spain, they don't go out there to provide jobs for the Spanish, quite the oposite. They do pay tax and contribute though.

explain that staff please

He's talking poo, ignore him.

Is Poland more beautiful than England?

These are up the road from where I live, there are more beautiful places in the South of England too.

Lake District
lake-district.gov.uk

Cumbria
cumbria-the-lake-district.co.uk

peakdistrict.org - Peak District

Derbyshire Countryside
britainexpress.com/counties/derbyshire/countryside

Is Poland more chaste than England?

I would say so, but there are some positives and some negatives in Englands favour.

Is Poland more trustworthy than England?

I think you meet unscrupulous people where ever you go, it all depends on where you decide to live and the kind of people you decide to socialise with.

Is Poland more livable than England?

Again, it would depend on where you wish to live.

r are there any other reasons?

I wouldn't say now is not the best time to come to the UK for work, times are not the best and thats for in all professions.

think, I would want to stay in Poland forever... I contemplated going to UK for work. I found a very good offer right here in my home town... and now I feel :)... I would like to visit other places.... but let my grave be in the boat :P (Lodz, Poland).

My advice would be to take the job and earn some money and a couple of years time do some travelling and see a bit of the world. Im sure others will say something different, Im quite sensible in certain matters. :)

News / "EU Politicians Angered By Polish Chemical Castration Plan" [45]

I wish the US would consider this.

It does! It's been in operation for quite some years.

pervs must take them all the time and once you let them out of prison, there's no way to control If they really do that.

These perverts would be on a sex offenders register and hopefully there would be some way of monitoring them, maybe a law would state it was a condition of them be released from prison but you're right there is no guarantee that they would take it, we could just kill all the perverts?

Well...I'm with you in this regard!

Me too!

don't know what their objections are all about, at the moment it is an "option" for a sex offender to have this in most countries in europe, Poland are taking a firm stance and saying - "you are having it" Hopefully more will follow.

The little ones are the most vulnerables and rely on us to protect them.

I think this kind of things should be across the board on ALL sex offenders - not just pedos

UK, Ireland / First UK ID Card Design Launched [16]

This is an extract from this site ID Cards, it makes quite a few valid points.
west-penwith.org.uk/misc/idcards.htm

Benefit? Little effect on Immigration. Refugees often have no ID at all, sometimes deliberately. Foreigners will not have cards. Illegal immigrants go out of their way to remain inconspicuous. Gang-masters are unlikely to inspect cards before employing people at below-minimum wages. Where do you get reliable information to register people of doubtful origin? Because stop-and-search by ethnic minority tends to cause riots then it is unlikely to be used in areas where it might be most effective.[6]

One of the main problems we have in this country is foreigners (settled in teh UK probably in possession of British passport) employing illegals.

Shami Chakrabarti

funny how it's always a foreigner compaining about these things!

"Picking on foreigners first is divisive politics; as costly to our race relations as our purses."

If they don't like it then they don't have to come to the UK!

good news but a little late .

Yes and No, at least it's something...Spain should think about it, they seem to be having a bit of a problem too.

Language / Madralo - is it insulting? [16]

Angol has a derogatory conotation.

Probably no more derogatory than calling a Polish person a Pole.

Bleedin’ England is all about people who smile in your face, then talk bullshit behind your back. Shame that most foreigners adopt this behaviour all too easily...

Is it really? So in "foreign" countries people are really honest and upfront all the time...pff!

UK, Ireland / Polish women drunkedness in England [10]

Especialy since the BBC announced this morning most of parliament is mostly always drunk

Probably because the bar is so cheap in the HOC.. ;-)

I just had a friend come back from Poland and England and he states that many Polish women have left Poland because they do not like the drunken Polish men.

About as true as the tooth fairy..

Life / Are Polish traditions dissapearing [93]

Most polish traditions have pagan origin really.

and most of them celebrated across Europe and not exactly specific to one country.

I still dont understand the significance of the one where you throw water on people, would anyone care to explain :)

Switezianka

I don't quite understand why someone would go to the lengths of apostasy.

Travel / Irish/Brits banned from hotels in Warsaw [43]

Im glad that they've started to ban them - I'm not overly keen on a bunch of idiots who can't handle their drink - anyway they reckon Kiev is the next place the "stags" will be heading, maybe Poland was just a passing fancy for them - one can only hope :)

Travel / Irish/Brits banned from hotels in Warsaw [43]

I just found this :)

We've already expressed a hint of dismay at the growing popularity for the British to hold their bachelor parties in Eastern Europe, often causing drunken havoc and mayhem at their destination, since it's so much cheaper to drink there than at home. Getting drunk, throwing bottles and breaking bar stools is one thing, but in Poland the situation's definitely getting out of hand: the Scots are lifting their kilts.

Seeing a man in a skirt while you're trying to enjoy a night on the town is disturbing enough, but seeing what's under his skirt (nothing!) is just a touch too much. Some Polish cities are trying to get men in skirts banned and are at the least threatening to throw them in jail for the night. Seems kilt-wearing in Poland gives a whole new meaning to the idea of "traveling light".

  • Scots :)

News / New Polish Euro Coins [65]

No battle - the euro is here to stay and we're a little bit more sophisticated than the romans were 2,000 years ago - it works and companies like it since it cuts costs on Forex and all the other associated costs with "buy-in" currency - the only down side is all the countries I visited pre euro were slightly cheaper than the UK or comparable - now with the euro - prices seem to have increased significantly, I'm not sure that wages have increased in line though.

Life / Are Polish traditions dissapearing [93]

I think traditions die out simply because each generation has less and less free time - it's a shame, but you will find smaller villages keeping the traditions more, but in the cities people wont care.

News / New Polish Euro Coins [65]

Well...any support for that opinion?

I wouldn't imagine so, I often wonder how long it will be before the UK decide it's the way to go - The euro is pretty strong and and I seem to get less and less each time I go away :(
