Life / Smoking ban - will this be coming to Poland like other EU countries? [183]

Taxes will always be found to fund what is essential.

They already are found, but new one would have to be found, or the existing taxes for those "essentials" would have to go up.

Evil things have their good sides.
Take oil. Bad, bad, causes pollution and $hit so we're gonna move to green energy. And make millions go hungry when we switch to biofuels.

Or taker CFLs. They sent coupons in Ontario to buy energy efficient light bulbs. Millions of people did.The next thing you know, they want to increase energy pricece because... CFL bulbs don't allow them to sell as much energy as the need to meet their bottom line.

In Canada complete ban on smoking would mean some $4 to $5B taken out of the revenue. That means up to $280 more in taxes a year per each employable (not necessary employed) Canadian,

I know even better option, no public funds at all for health problems of smokers caused by their behavior with full awarenesses of the consequences.

You didn't read what I wrote.
Smokers do pay for their own health issues related to smoking by paying gobs of money in cig. taxes. Considering that those smoking related illnesses account for only 30%+ of the money smokers pour into the health system, the smokers should actually get better health coverage than non-smokers.

News / China to buy 150 helicopters from Poland [47]

Boycott all Chinese products.

Like the computer and the keyboard you used to type the above.

I beg to differ. I think the World economy would improve and the Chinese would be weaker

First steps would be painful, but this is a good idea. That's how it used to be years ago. Remember?

The average guy on the street doesnt know or/and doesnt care where the product is from as long as it cleans his teeth/makes him coffee etc.

That's true only for those who still haven't lost their jobs to their Chinese counterparts.

I think so.

Good thing they had the **** beat out of them.

Almost not enough though.

Silly. Very silly.
Be a man and next time take them from the front.

Language / Genitive case ("nie ma nic" vs "nie ma niczego") [71]

Why? The father can be a father to both son and the company :)

The key word here is can.

A son is normally the son of a father.

Most sons have mothers too.

There were ones without mothers, and some without fathers, but that's another long, long story.

News / So why is there so much animosity against Poles? [65]

during the 18th Century, there was the beginning of reform, as Russia was taking first steps toward moving into the 'industrial age'

Beginning of industrial age in the 18th century Russia?
At that time Russia was still a feudal (one might even say Medieval) country in all aspects.

People were not free.

UK, Ireland / First generation Pole in the UK [24]

.spelling and how exactly do you genocide someone...?

I'm sure he would also like to "noimmigration" all Poles.

Noimmi has a point here, Himmler was hellbent on the obliteration of all Poles and he held sway with Hitler.

He has 1/2 of a point here. Soviets were co-operating with the Germans during WW2 on the complete of the Polish nation.

News / So why is there so much animosity against Poles? [65]

Bolshevism, which, in fact, wasn't a 'Russian' system at all...it was an alien system that enslaved the Russian people

Sorry for interrupting, but in order to enslave someone that someone needs to be free. I'm not sure the Russian people had ever been free before the Bolshevism.

Language / Cases, Genders, Nominative, Instrumental...WHY? [40]

My english teacher said the opposite. That english is archaic.

Modern English archaic?

Read Beowulf in Old English and see if you understand anything? The language changed a lot. It used to have case and other inflections, just like Polish. Although less of them.

Love / Pornographic Polish magazines [65]

Your mother-in-law may not have realized what was in the magazine.

Or maybe the wife doesn't.

Erotic material is present all over the place.
I have to go through pages and pages of models in nothing more than skimpy bras and a string around their waists before I finally get through to the lawn mowers section in the Sears catalog. That is ridiculous and all my lawn mowing fantasies are practically wrecked by the time I reach cookware section.

Language / czy../trzy.. - Full assimilation in Polish [22]

Yes, but this is not slang but bad polish spoken by non Poles

Example of Polish slang:

czymta sie - trzymajcie sie

I never heard an English learner of Polish make that mistake. If anything, their "trz
sounds often like "ci"

but surely they should learn from the mistakes made by those for continually bleating on about William

That's human nature.
Think iPod.
I mean why (using your approach) would anyone want to listen to the same few tunes over and over again ;)

yes it is important that it is discussed, totally agree. However not over and over and ove and over and over covering the same thing.

That's nothing, man.
Take that fella Shakespeare for instance. They have been bull$hitting about him for the last 400 years or so, and they have been doing it all over the world in thousands of universities and in countless languages. And again, all that about just one guy!

Now, that's boring, ain't it?

Poles still have a few centuries to catch up with that.

So why is there so much animosity against Poles?

I don't think there is so much animosity hereon PF. Notice that all the hatered comes from the same few, repeating the same slogans ad nausea. Others who join in perhaps do not feel hatred but they do not feel enough sympathy to stay neutral.

Other than that, look at the majority of non-Poles here. All these people trying to learn something about Poland, including our language. Hats off to those. It's a very difficult task.

hat's what Poles are accused of. As long as this stinking sewage from the example runs down the street, as long the Poles will have their right to 'moan'.

It boils down to Brits and such moaning about the fate of the nation whose presence in their own countries they resented and where pogroms were much too frequent. So they gave Jews an option - don't be Jews or get the fvck out.

May? May?

Yes. May.

Even now you still talk about it being a possibility that Poles committed crimes against Jews?

No. See, you keep on twisting facts and you misread even simple sentences. How can one trust you?

In fact I wrote about a possibility that some Poles committed crimes against Jews?

There is no programme. You need to ask your shrink to review the meds you're on.

See? WTF kind of argument is that? Is that all you could squeeze out of the few grams of organic matter inside your skull?

Remember, often words you say about others say more about you than about them. Your bottomlessly pointless and stupid posts are a perfect illustration of that.

just out of interest darius, as a pole, do you ever wonder why you dont get the respect you feel you deserve?

No, I don't wonder about it because I do get respect from people who know me, thank you.

Love / Pornographic Polish magazines [65]

please tell me the name of the polish magazine for women that shows nude men in compromising positions so that i can order it for myself.

Now I understand your disappointment. You're into domination.

what's wrong with this picture? hmm is it pornographic?

What a waste of good quality electrical tape.

A side note; I find so called pornographic magazines less pornographic than most action, horror and war movies, and certainly less pornographic and violent than the Bible.

As Larry Flynt once remarked; in news media we are shown people being killed, imprisoned and persecuted and that's fine. But when we see two (or more) people having sex we protest.
