Love / Polish-Islam Relationship Union [450]

your country is being overrun by muslims

you? here as well?

you seem to like me... ;-)

by the way germany is not overrun. we embrace cultural diversity instead. just works better than narrowmindedness...

you talk about tolerance and respect?

for the above reasons, yes...

maybe then tolerance will come around

it is always the others that are wrong and others that have to make the first step, right?

marek, i believe you did not quite get the essence of my post...

News / Polish-German Relations in the Present [697]

that this guy is a sham, a creep that is out to pollute the Polish threads

omg...

look. i am not polluting anything. there you should better look into a mirror.
tell me what poland is gaining from isolation. maybe it convinces me and i'll change my mind. so far you were only making statements which let me believe you have a very strong inferiority complex...

And what specifically do you mean by this?

on a private note i am living with a polish girlfriend. (danger filios: because it might happen that i spoil polish blood...)

on a less private note i am moderating a german-polish forum, where interesting enough a far more friendly tone is spoken as it happens in this forum from time to time. yes we are smaller, but people there post when they actually have something to say...

Love / Polish-Islam Relationship Union [450]

question to the christians...

what happened during the crusades? how many people were burnt for witchcraft etc?
and and and... all in the name of christ...

nevertheless you all are convinced your belief is "the real one".
but you have to admit that there were a lot bad things done in the name of christianity, right? but you are still christians...

why do you doubt that islam is apeaceful religion? because you hear the stories today of a manmade interpretation of it with stuff happening that seems obviously against islam...

these stories are the same level of misinterpretation of a belief that would have been told about the crusades if they have had news24 and the internet...

without tolerance and respect it will never be possible to live in peace with each other.

just a thought...

aren't even Polish that disrupt Polish-German relations

dont talk such a rubbish...
i am german and so i most likely do more for the above relationship on a daily basis than you do.

Germany has, and always will be the instigator of all the affairs

okay... obviously you have some personal unresolved issues and EXACTLY this hatred instigates stupid things...

Poland only survives because there are people LIKE ME, true patriots who still support their inner nationalistic policies

hahahahaha...

that is so yesterday...

your posts are pointless... but actually in a way very amusing...

got some more? ;-)

No reason to worry about this fellow

well i do... simply because we had brought this thread to a nice ending that everyone ("to whom it concerns" in a way) could be happy with.

and people like this unfortunately all to often in this forum intervene...
usually only to prove their pointless points...

*headshake*

whatever... i think we both understand, don't we?

whether Germany should be friendly towards us or not.

can't see why the mindful people in germany should not be friendly towards poland...

it is people like filios who enters a thread that had a perfectly positive ending to stirr things up in a rather stupid populist manner and be simply disruptive...

very wrong and narrowminded...

News / Polish-German Relations in the Present [697]

With the relationship between Germans and Poles is like with the relationship between blacks and whites in the US. At first it was a racism...

there is no "racism" between germany and poland. i grew up and still hold the passport of one of these nations to make this statement... ;-)

the history between both is very mixed up and unfortunately there are many prejudices from both sides towards each others. mostly they come from less educated people...

generally though the relationship between both countries is constantly improving...

Genealogy / strange Polish mixes [116]

Hm, so your heritage and background, and identity aren't simply American?

if you would do that you would admit that you have a heritage that is just about 300 years young (unless you are indian).
by refering to your (mostly) european heritage it is prolonged by a couple of 100 years which makes you look more elaborate.

USA, Canada / Roads and Driving rules in Poland versus America [63]

They put rondos in Poland to make it cheaper by not installing traffic lights

building more rondos is slowing traffic

very right that is both...

i think one can say that the origin of all roundabouts is england. you find roundabouts everywhere, even on the smallest of junctions...

and guess what... they work perfectly fine.

News / Poland adopting the Euro, but when? [65]

nope, get flight for your Zł.

loty = flights

mate, we are both right. "nope" is the wrong answer. the nice thing with word play is that it is only word play if it works in both directions here.

but yes... the polish variant wasn't as obvious to me as wasn't the english to you... ;)

as LondonChick said already.. now it is even more genius...

that kind of word play is what i love the english for... :D

that's what i get for listening to germans isn't it. That's what i was told by the germans when i was living there

me german too... ;)
you have to understand that us germans we do like to paint every picture in black and white...
and it is quicker (efficiency!) to reduce a couple of years of development to one night that it (didn't) took the prices to rise... ;)

you get the point...?

we are strange...

News / Poland turning into a religious state? Polish politic and Church. [96]

making religious education compulsory until A-level can be very dangerous if they were only to teach christian religion. if they teach the whole diversity of religion they would still leave pupils the choice. and more importantly future generations would understand better what the differences between different beliefs are and try to avoid misunderstandings...

diversity is key.

UK, Ireland / Immigrants trigger Irish rethink [71]

I know it makes me feel like leaving, and I'm British

i can kind of understand that one. but please do not make the mistake to blame that on immigrants...

yes. britain is cold and wet, but at least you can earn money to pay for having it warm and dry.
many poles from london have lost their illusions after arriving and have gone back to poland.
those people who despise immigrants do forget that leaving your country is not such an easy step and many are sitting between a rock and a hard place. on one hand your home, family and personal history but no economical chance to make a living on the other hand economical prosperity but feeling "not home"...

when i came to england from berlin it took me about 1.5 years to sort myself out. on one had i wasn't feeling like completely "gone away" from berlin but on the other hand i haven't "arrived" yet in england... it wasn't made easy by my english colleagues neither. and being from germany should actually make the problem a little easier you would think (as long as you don't talk about football, of course!) as they are probably closer in a cultural aspect. but now imagine how some of the poles must feel when they come here...

it always is a tough one. the ones that complain the most are usually the ones that never made the experience to live away from your patria...

i recommend to everyone to try it. we would have a lot less trouble...

News / Poland adopting the Euro, but when? [65]

what loty and zloty would have in common

it is called a joke.
this time as a rhyme.
"get a lot(y) for your money"...
apparently english people are worldfamous for their wordplay. and this is just a very nice example for it...

Do you know what the currency of Croatia is?

no.

Do you know what the currency for Hungary is?

forint as far as i remember(?)

do you know what the currency for Latvia is?

no again...

but didn't you say it would be easy to spot different currencies as it is advertised on exchange places???

You'll get the whole Teuro gag then

of course... that's why i prefer £££'s... ;)

News / Poland adopting the Euro, but when? [65]

looking out for the Polish flag, you don't tend to think about it

very true. happened even to me (german with polish girlfriend, living in uk) for a split second when my gf flew back to poland. it just seems so natural to assume that every eu country would use the same currency... apart from uk, of course... :D

get a loty for your zloty

i laughed my backside off when i saw that ad first...

Life / Is drinking water in Poland good? [96]

say that becouse poland is perfect cheap , good food good clima , preatty girl people are nice but they all to to live in the UK

open your own thread if you have got a problem...

taste like pee

i never drank pee so i would not be able to compare it to polish water... ;)

old pipework by the way exists across the whole planet (even in the UK!) and that is never good for the water quality...
the shower in the house i am renting (Leeds, UK) has an old pipe and the first few dribbles every morning come out in a rather rusty colour. only happens on the shower all other taps are okay and you can make coffe with the water...

i personally don't drink tap water because it tasted bad everywhere i was so far...

History / WW2: Britain Declares War on Germany to Save Poland [290]

interesting discussion...

what GB missed to do for poland?
they could have forgotten about appeasement earlier and act. which on the other hand they could not do as the danger would have been that hitler turns against them first...

a little story on the side:
right before the war there was a military parade in england and the german ambassador was present. as the GB army was very small at that time they simply let the parade pass twice to give the germans the impression of a strong military...

clever! ;)

is GB to blame for the above?
certainly not. poland was overrun by the germans within a couple of days. impssible to send troops from GB on time...

what GB did for poland?
very simple...
if they would not have been marching together with their allies people in poland would speak german today...

not good...

why do people have to argue for the sake of an argument again in this thread of a simple thing remains unclear to me...

News / Poland adopting the Euro, but when? [65]

The UK, Denmark and Sweden don't have the Euro either...maybe later...

pro's and con's...

easy one actually.
economies with a stable currency should think twice before making the change to the euro. that's why the uk did right when deciding against it lately (well... 2 years ago?).

as a matter of fact the "richer" countries had their currency downvalued while for "poorer" ecomnomies the opposite was the case when the euro was first introduced...

In germany, even though the euro was valued and 2x the deutchmark, what used to cost 1 dm ended up costing 1 euro the next day

simply not true...

it took some years to reach that mark, but still that would be far to quick to get through as inflation rate... ;)

as poland is going through a lot of changes both parties (ecu and poland) should watch and analyse before commiting to a certain exchange rate...

Love / What to buy my Polish girlfriend for Christmas? [9]

whereabouts are you? have you got a polish foodshop around?

impress her with some polish cooking. all girls love men who can cook and if you cook something from her home you score twice...
buy a nice bottle of polish vodka to round things off (zubrowka is my favourite, best with applejuice...)

there are many more possibilities, but i guess you already get the point(?)...

what the hell is this???
are you trying to show off that you read some books?

i agree with everything you say above and i did far earlier already so what is the point in repeating yourself?

the war is over since more than 60 years so let's just not start another one, please...

Any chance of a thread not degenerating into mudslinging by both sides?

fine with me. i did not start that in the first place but was called names and acused of things i didn't do...

my opinion to the topic i made clear on several posts earlier.

but some probably refuse to learn...
