Love / A Story of mine [47]

I guess its a lesson learnt In life when things seem to good to be true

No I think it's just a lesson in life my friend. Sometimes things that seem too good to be true can be true. Sorry it didn't work out for you this time. I guess most of us have been badly hurt by someone at one time or another, intentionally or unintentionally. On the plus side you got to see and know a little about Poland and the Polish people. You saw some of their generosity of spirit and learnt something about another culture. Travel does truly broaden your horizons.

Life / Poland: The Things That Make Foreigners Lift a Brow [123]

Hm, would you admit, Szarlotka, that numbering in England is often very strange?

As precise as ever Puzzler. I should have used the word different rather than strange. I agree that some of our house naming and/or numbering is a little different and sometimes illogical for visitors.

UK, Ireland / polish food in UK Tesco's [28]

We’ve got two Tesco’s in my town in Poland.

They're getting unhealthily big IMHO. In the UK they are the largest property company in terms of the value of their portfolio and they are a B****y supermarket chain.

Cheap wine though

Travel / Irish/Brits banned from hotels in Warsaw [43]

fine, they can ban ALL stag does then

And don't forget to ban all hen nights too..... some of their behaviour has shocked me to the very core....

Sponsored by the equal abuse society in the interests of political correctness

Life / Polish people living in Poland, How do you see your future? [37]

Lucky ******* imagine all the frequent flier points they will be getting

Yep. I had three years of weekly commuting to Warsaw. Loads of air miles and getting the 6.50am flight on a Monday morning meant that commute was only marginally longer than the average trip into London in rush hour. Damned sight more fun too.

Language / The Longest Polish word?? [23]

Hmm - Lucky you're not in Thailand where the following village exists:

Krungthepmahanakornamornratanakosinmahintarayutthayamahadilokphopnoppa ratrajathaniburiromudomrajaniwesmahasatharnamornphimarnavatarnsathitsa kkattiyavisanukamprasit

Or new Zealand where you could live in the town of:

Tetaumatawhakatangihangakoauaotamateaurehaeaturipukapihimaungahoronuku pokaiwhenuaakitanarahu

Life / Polish people living in Poland, How do you see your future? [37]

The problem is that Poles like to complain about everything

Very true in my experience. I used to think that nobody could touch us Brits at the top of the world class moaning list but I think the Poles could give us a run for our money <insert smiley face here>

Joking aside I thought Edyta's post was spot on. Poland is only three years on into a major transition. As time goes on things will improve. Without being patronising , I hope, just look at the Irish economy now compared with 15-20 years ago. Polish entrepreneurs will emerge and as I have said many times here the well educated and hard working Polish workforce will do well. Polish management skills will develop further and within 10-15 years you will all be wondering what the fuss was about.

Love / Polish Attitude Towards Tantric Sex (& Family Planning) [46]

I even read somewhere that they actually have the most fun in the bedroom. Hmmm.

Interesting. As a counter claim:

I'm officially a Protestant (C of E) and I have LOADS of fun in the bedroom. Only the other day I spent two whole days decorating the thing. The sensual joys of wallpaper stripping, the delights of mixing the paint, the sheer unadulterated joy of the roller sliding gently across the walls. Finally the satisfaction of a job well done, completed with a nice glass of wine and a game of scrabble. :)

Travel / Beware the peacocks at Lazienski Park in Warsaw [36]

I guess they must had been in a great mood..

Hmm........ the lull before the storm. You must have caught them just after they had fed. Perhaps just after they stole my sandwich.:)

Note to avoid prosecution by the Polish Tourist Board. I think I might just have been unlucky

Travel / Beware the peacocks at Lazienski Park in Warsaw [36]

If you are planning to visit Lazienski Park in Warsaw then watch out for the peacocks that roam around the gardens. They are vicious. Under no circumstances approach them whilst carrying a ham sandwich.

Love / How to tell woman to stay away from my man? [28]

I agree with Miranda on this one...

And so do I. It takes two to tango so why just beat up the woman in this instance. I suggest the judicious use of the rolling pin to the head followed by a few night sleeping in the car for him. jeez he's got a partner and kids. What did she do, tie him down against his will?

Law / Want to start Indian cafe in Poland.. [71]

chicken teka masala

Oi, tudo bem Zion?

Chicken Tikka Masala is not really of Indian origin. It started life in an Indian Restaurant in Glasgow ! There are lots of examples of Indian dishes that originated in the West and largely consist of very spicy ingredients as opposed to the subtle spices and flavourings of 'real' Indian food from the many different regioanl cuisines of that country.

Love / What makes Polish girls tick - or is it just women in general....:-) [64]

There is not a lot I can say to you Jackson51, other than that this is a desperately sad situation for you and your son. I have worked for extended periods throughout Central and Eastern Europe and I’ve seen first hand how some married men carry on when they are out there. There was always a small percentage of local women who were happy to oblige them. Note that I said a small percentage as most of them would never pursue a married man. My heart goes out to you. I hope things work out over time for you.
