Love / Polish Attitude Towards Tantric Sex (& Family Planning) [46]

My mother was one of 9, my father one of 4. They did pretty good, I was one of 6. My 3 siblings had only 2, one had 1 and my sister and me were married with no kids.

Big change! :) I was the youngest of 6 and I would not change it for anything, just like shopgirl. There is something great about a big family.

Love / Polish Attitude Towards Tantric Sex (& Family Planning) [46]

Yeah, perception only...I don't know of families having 8 or 10 kids nowadays. The same goes for Ireland, right daffy? :) I think, only Mexican families are still practicing Vatican teachings in the bedroom.

Love / Polish Attitude Towards Tantric Sex (& Family Planning) [46]

I can see that I stirred something here. I wish, I remembered the article or where it was...Anyway, the statement hit me just as much then as it did some readers here based on the comments. Anyway, most Catholics look at the teaching of sex for procreation only as a joke...well, maybe not exactly as a joke but not something to follow. You know most of us like the forbidden fruit, so maybe when you finally reach for it, you can never have enough? Young, married couples in Poland have mostly one child nowadays, so do you think they had sex only once? :)

Love / how do i get rid of a girl? [90]

Witek, shewolf thanks for your input. Hmm, I think Lorena Babitt is related to my 3rd cousin's wife's 2nd cousin who was married briefly to Lorenas 1st cousin's ex-wife...Wow, did you get it? :)

Shewolf, I had a kick out of your advises. Got any good ones to tell a guy to get rid of him? :)

Genealogy / looking for Jenny-who was a nanny in Ill. around 1971 thru about 1974 [20]

The most important for you is to find out her first and last name. You call her Jenny... Jenny is not a polish name. Her name could be Janina.

Once you have her real name, you may try to contact polish consulate in Chicago. She had to have a polish passport, which the consulate should have a record of. Again, this will take some time and cost money.

She did not know, so she asked. Ona nie wiedziała, więc sie zapytała.

I gave you some examples to give you the meaning. A więc and więc is used depending on situation.

USA, Canada / Polish bakeries in Chicago [51]

A lot of people seem to love Montrose Deli for their home made products.
There is also Wally's supermarket on Golf/Busse in Mt. Prospect. They have their own bakery and "domowy" bread id very good. They have huge variety of breads.

It depends where you live.

Life / Found some Polish Rock bands! [25]

I tried limewire too. I really got a lot of good polish/european stuff, songs, movies, porn (Ooops - that was my boyfriend's specialty) :)

It planted itself pretty deep into registry and removal was pretty hard, but I beat it.
Lots of manual deletions.

UK, Ireland / Polish girls 'too pretty' for British schools [150]

Gosh, I thought very attractive girls had it easy but it looks like it can be a disadvantage in UK. Pretty sad that they can not let a beauty be.

They just proved they they are well...not so attractive or simply plain comparing to her...

Travel / Ukraine - A New Destination of Vacation for Poles [27]

First of all, windows in the train are closed during all the period of the travel,

?? Who closes the windows? You mean you can not see the country, admire scenery? I heard it was like this in the communist times. One could not even make a wrong turn off the road without getting himself in trouble. I can't believe this is still practiced!

I would like to go there some day too...hopefully, they will allow open windows by then.

Love / I work in a bank and employed a Polish girl - help required please [30]

I can think of some reasons not to:

1. You have a long time gf already.
2. It is never a good idea to date at work.
3. Since you say you employed her, are you her boss too? It would create a very uncomortable working environment.
4. In a few months when you decide to switch gf again, she would be out of a job....

Food / Poles are more nature-food oriented that most of the other nations? [9]

There are many "back to nature' style stores in Chicago and they are quite popular or they would be out of business. A lot of people believe in "body cleansing" formulas which suppose to flush out toxins. I tried one in the past and did not notice any miracles. Anyway, I don't believe in pill popping for this and for that just because the label said so...

However, I believe that we are what we eat and I buy a lot of organic products at stores like Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. I complement my diet with lots of veggies and fruit, flax seed, olive oil, whole grains, nuts... My soups are based on organic chicken or beef. I like meat, of course, but it's not for every day eating and fast food is just an occasional treat (I love it too). Well, it works for me.

I think a lot of polish people are quality food lovers and enjoy home cooking. Cooking can be enjoyable activity if don't consider it a chore to begin with. Yes, it takes time but it is worthed.

Life / Polish mothers! Advice to Mothers-to-be and new Mothers (resources) [25]

See, Patrycja, a lot of doctors (MD) don't want to tell you this. After all, the drug companies need to make a living and keep people working. I just don't want to contribute to this "good' cause myself :)

They usually say, "you not catching a cold because you're underdressed/overdressed, you got it because your body came in contact with a virus". They just fail to add that our bodies come across viruses/bacteria EVERY living moment of our lives. It is our immune system which needs our help to help it to fend them OFF. Long live T-cells! The soldiers in our bodies.

Life / Polish mothers! Advice to Mothers-to-be and new Mothers (resources) [25]

Polish mothers overdress their children - that's why many Poles (especially men) catch chills so easily.

That is a piece of BS. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS "dress for the weather". I have not had a cold for at least 15-20 years, whereas my coworkers get a 2-3 a year. It does make me shiver to see people walking in shorts and t-shirts here in Chicago at 40F. It's plain stupid. Your body has to work very hard to keep your temperature and your immune system working. If you underdress, your body is too busy to keep your temperature at the right level and it makes your immune system weak. The result - you come across a virus and it invades your weakened body. Voila. You "catch" a cold. If you were dressed right, your immune system will "kill" the invader. It does not 'waste' the energy to keep your body warm. The result - no cold.

And, don't forget to wash your hands. It works!
This is an advise from my Mum.

Food / the best cure for hangover-the polish way ;) [76]

Drinking and eating szarlotka (cannibalism?) never works well at the end. Next time try pickles and herrings instead :)

have a shot of whatever you were drinking (only one please) then, lots of water or milk. It's not gonna make wonders, but it helps. The only true remedy is not overdoing it, but...
