Study / Comparing Educational Standards in Poland vs other countries [88]

[quote=peterweg] Getting a degree doesn't make you smart.
My A-levels were way harder than my degree.
I agree that having a degree doesnt make you smart.. its merely a question of having the discipline to stick it for so long... in my experience some A'levels were harder (more intense). My BA was 4 years, with one year spent in Latin America (tough but someone had to do it).. dissertation was 10,000 words in Spanish.. Dont know much about the Polish university system, but its an interesting discussion.. (makes a nice change from tits and rampant Brit rage) Arts subjects are not a joke and theres nothing wrong with post grad if you have the time and money to spend.

Love / Do married Polish men keep lovers? [26]

If you have been married for a long time and life is not perfect for the two, does that give license to take a lover?

I didnt know you needed a licence for it?

UK, Ireland / Profile of a polish person in London [18]

Im sorry but this is a ridiculous thread.. in my humble opinion. Do you really want to know what life is like in the UK for Poles because you are thinking about moving here? If so, then better to ask for individual experiences, rather than stereotype everyone as living the same life. My partner is Polish and we dont have Polish TV and he doesnt spend his whole life obsessed with work.

Love / I had a Polish female friend. Horror in my mind... [79]

sorry, I was just trying to cheer you up with a bit of humour.. I know how hard it is if you really like her..but at the end of the day, only you can decide if she is worth your affections or not. Maybe make a list of the pros and cons of your relationship and see which outweighs the other.

I dont think that you should judge a girl (or a man) on how many people they have slept with before they met you. Similarly if she likes older men, then thats up to her... however, I agree that she does sound a bit dodgy posing for pics in a hotel room.. she may not be a prostitute, but she could be looking for 'friends' to help her financially.

Life / Poland: The Things That Make Foreigners Lift a Brow [123]

all the Polish people I know celebrate both birthdays and Saints days... seems good to me, you get two good excuses per year for a party and presents instead of just the one.

I like the hand kissing thing.. and I think Polish guys buy more flowers.. my boyfriend wouldnt visit my mom without taking flowers, but Ive never met an English guy who would even think of doing that.. although Im sure there are plenty.

Life / What are Poles going to do if there are to live with other nations? [109]

he calls u mum

you must know that I mean your mom, but I apologise because that is rude, Im sure she didnt plan to give birth to a moron. Im not sure why you have got it in for me and I dont want to annoy other forum users by carrying on this ridiculous argument.. maybe you should just start a new thread attacking me.. then you can post non stop.

Language / "polish pig" - is it offensive? [41]

I agree about pig.. but not all animals are neccessarily an insult are they? Correct me if Im wrong, but dont Polish people often use names like frog, mouse and kitten as terms of endearment..

in english.. the words pig and cow and dog are normally used offensively.. Im sure there are others but cant think of them right now.

Or how about "you daft bat" or "cheeky monkey", which can also be used in friendly banter.

UK, Ireland / English food - unhealthy? [52]

c

Do you think everyone in PL exercises a lot?

I have no idea to be honest, but someone else suggested that they did, so thought Id go with it. Reference to Knorr was that they seem to stock a lot of it in Polish shops in the UK. anyway, there is good and bad food in any country if you know where to find it and how to cook it... and you always like food from your home country best. I just take offence to someone stating that most food here is crap and that all meat is tasteless....blah, blah, blah.

UK, Ireland / English food - unhealthy? [52]

LOL. well i can see Ive upset Mr Pitbull.. honestly I cant even be bothered to reply to that. Thats my opinion - whether you like it or not and believe it or not I often eat Polish food at home and I like it, but I dont believe its as healthy as some are making out.. as for asking for translation.. frankly I cant be bothered as Ive already got the jist of your inane rambling... I wasnt criticising the girl for being a model at all, just pointing out the inconsistencies in her postings. Sorry for anyone I have offended... I think I may have to leave the forum as it seems to be going rapidly downhill fast...now dont all cheer at once :)

UK, Ireland / English food - unhealthy? [52]

she's obviously disstressed at being a bit on the podgy side.

OK, but according to a previous post, she is a beautiful model who is constantly discriminated against for being so gorgeous... so which is it to be?

UK, Ireland / English food - unhealthy? [52]

Ok well you are entitled to your opinion, but I stick with mine.. which is that Polish food is generally more unhealthy than British. If you cant find healthy food and good meat in the UK then you havent been looking hard enough. Anyway, nice that you have a swimming pool and gym nearby to work off all that disgusting food. I dont want to attack you personally as thats not why Im here, but from my observation you seem to post things complaining about life in the UK.. eg) you cant find a good enough job and now the food is crap. If its really that bad, then why not leave?

UK, Ireland / English food - unhealthy? [52]

My opinion is that a lot of Polish food is seriously unhealthy... you guys seem to eat a lot of fatty meats like sausages and other cold meats (sorry cant remember the name of them) and packet mixes like Knorr, which contain lots of e-numbers. Of course English have fry ups and chips etc... but there are healthy eating options in all countries. Generally I believe that the English diet is healthier than the average Polish one as we tend to eat less red meat and processed foods. Although we have more obesity here, I think its down to lack of exercise.. and Polish people are probably more active - as stated by clunkshift above. Ooh I can feel the backlash already...
