Life / Do Polish people respect other cultures? [96]

I believe, Poles behave decently only in the countries which they fear or bootlick like Germany or the USA

Funny, that's exactly my impression about Germans visiting Kołobrzeg and other parts of Poland. :)

Travel / What attracts tourist to Poland? [54]

Actually my admiration of Poland started after my visits abroad. :)

The world is a big place with many attractions, not too many people are interested in spending there holidays visiting concentration camps and old buildings, there is a you have seen one you have seen them all mentality,

Very interesting logic. So you think that by visiting Paris, you don't have to visit London, Vienna, Amsterdam or Rome, because "once you saw one old building, you saw them all"? Common lef, you don't actually believe what you are saying, do you? :)

From my conversation with non poles, the greatest selling point is the cheapness of the place and the friendly people, good beaches is always a selling point, something poland has not got.

Poland is still cheap, so please don't overtake the facts. Bored with swimming, windsurfing, playing volleyball or taking the sunbath with German pensioners at the beach? :) Hire an aqualung and dive down to some of the 24 discovered wrecks that lay at the bottom of the Baltic sea. Due to the low level of salt the wrecks are beautifully preserved. Every month polish costal guards have to intervene as many tresure seekers are interested in the precious cargo of few Prussian ships that were sank at the end of WWII by Russian submarines.

Besides, poland doesn't only consist of beaches. It has a very pictieresque landscape and many beautiful national parks, eight of them - the Słowiński, Białowieża, Kampinos, Babia Góra, Karkonosze, Tatra, Bieszczady, and Polesie - have been entered on the UNESCO list of World Biosphere Reserves. So if you are an ignorant of Polish history, culture, food, liquer, cities and their night life, historical monuments than maybe at least you will appreciate it's mountains. :) I do.

Life / Black people in Poland [357]

Ghandi was once asked what he thought about "European civilization", he replied "It would be a good idea." lol

Ghandi was a very wise man. :)

As for the decline of white world, few facts in this subject: the number of white people will slowly decrease, and nothing, especially mixing only inside your own race, won't stop that phenomenon. Why is that? Because of status, condition of living and the life style of white “western” people, predominantly putting fun and career before the family. Even if we close our borders, sooner or later we will have to open them again as there won't be enough people to run the whole system. The biggest achievement of western civilizations, the high standard of living, is at the same time it’s weakest side. Sad but true.

Is white culture worth being preserved? Of course it is, but you won't achieve it simply by telling people what they should do, and who they should date. The only thing what we can do about it is to promote this culture so that the future generations of whites and other ethnic groups would appreciate it and decide to preserve it.

PS: Fortunately or unfortunately, because the current economic situation, Poland still has some time before the "threat" of multiculti will be a real one. :)

lef you wrote somewhere in this threat that Oz people tend to visit Bali year in year out because it is cheap, has good beaches and lovely people. But what's so special about that? A lot of places are cheap have good beaches and lovely people. Come to think of it, why go to the Alps? Himalayas are bigger and clearly better. Why visit the Statue of Liberty? It's not that there are no better looking statues in the world. Why eat sushi in Tokyo while you can do the same in Melbourne? Why visit Melbourne if one can drink a warm Foster and watch kangaroos at the local zoo during a hot and dry day? :) Fortunately not everybody follow this odd logic, as there would be only few places on earth visited by tourists.

What has Poland interesting to offer?
Well, lets start with the cities, each with their own unique atmosphere and character. Krakow – the cultural capital city of Poland, Gdańsk – a place where the influences of Polish, German, Flemish, Italian, Scandinavian and Jewish culture cross each other forming a very intriguing blend, Wrocław – the city of hundred bridges, that seems to float on the water, Warsaw – polish phoenix, that emerged from it’s ashes after the tragedy of the Warsaw Uprising during the WWII, never actually regained it’s beauty before the WWII, but stil worth visiting for a sheer fact of watching the socialist architecture, yuck vide The palace of Culture and Science, a gift from our friend uncle Joseph as a sign of the eternal friendship between Russia and Poland :) £ódź – with it’s industrial charm that seems to affect even the likes of David Lynch, and the rest Poznań, Szczecin, Lublin, etc ..and more cameral cities like Toruń, Kazimierz Dolny, Zamość, Przemyśl…

Actually there is so much to see and do in Poland that maybe it will be better if I post some links concerning this issue. Check this out:

poland.gov.pl/With,Backpack,and,Oar,405.html

poland.gov.pl/Treasures,on,the,Trail,406.html

poland.gov.pl/The,Sites,on,the,UNESCO,List,407.html

poland.gov.pl/Food,and,Acommodation,408.html

poland.gov.pl/City,Entertainment,409.html

Still it’s only the peak of the mountain of interesting places here. Poland has an enormous potential that is sadly being unused. For example nobodies doing anything about the Soviet ex-nuclear base placed in Sulęcin (the III WW could have started in this place), or nobody is promoting The Międzyrzecz Fortification Region (one of the largest and the most interesting fortification systems in the world, build by the Nazis between 1934-1938), or the Wilczy Szaniec (“Wolfsschanze”; the ruins of a major Eastern Front military headquarters of Adolf Hitler during World War II where he made many decisions about the future of many nationalities, building of new death camps, etc), vampire graves in Poland (the image of a undead creature that feeds itself with human blood, and all those weapons that were suppose to defend us from them come from the Slavic demonology), culture of Polish nobles, and promotion of one of the best cavalry in the world: “Husaria” (“Hussars" )

PS: Oh, and one more thing, polish cuisine isn’t only about “bigos” and “pierogi”. If you are more of a adventurous and open minded traveler I advise you to try the “Czernina soup”( “Duck blood soup”:), “Flaczki” (“Tripes”:), “Tatar” (main ingredient is raw meat, and this dish came to Poland along with the Tatars; we just slightly improved it :)) and “Świński mózg z jajkiem i cebulką” ( “Pigs brain with an egg and onion” - I never tried that one though :P). Enjoy!

History / Poland has paid £68 Million for helping UK in WW2 [168]

The French did not fight for Polish independence, but without the slaughter fighting the Germans at places such as Verdun (in WW1, for the historically challenged) Poland wouldn't have become independent.

Partially true. Poland became independent because of the Germany failure in the WWI, the October Revolution and most of all because of hard work of Polish diplomats, that managed to convince France and it's allies that a free, strong and independent Poland is crucial for the political and military stability of European continent. Poland reemerged because it was suppose to further weaken Germany (by taking back lands that used to be polish) and to become a boundary of the western civilization and Bolshevik Russia (the biggest threat to western Europe in the 20th century), primarily to separate Russia from Germany were the idea of communist revolution was becoming more and more popular. If Russia combined it’s power with the German commies the future of Europe wouldn’t look very cheerful.

In conclusion, French soldiers never fought for Poland, as for most of the war the idea of an independent Poland was considered by the western countries as an utopia, mainly because of the position of Germany and Russia that wanted to keep the polish issue as part of their inner politics. The reemerging of my country wasn’t an act of kindness from the side of France that should be thanked for, but it was just pure business and politics. We were precious for French as long as they had some interest in it. They didn’t had any problems with sacrificing their ally Poland for their good in 1925, where they signed the Locarno Treat, that ratified only the boundaries between France, Belgium and Germany, and didn’t said anything about the eastern boundaries of Germany. It was a clear but very delicate sign in which way Germans should expand in the future, mainly in the East (Poland) and not in the West (France). Sad but true.

Wrong! Their military strategists in 1940 were as bad as Poland's were in 1939 - when the Poolish army put in a terribly poor performance. No-one, mind you, likes to tell the Poles that with the army they had they could have done 10 times better against the Germans, because it's history and you can't change it.

Terrible performance? Interesting. Look at the map from the 1939, take into the consideration how long were the frontier line with the Germans, and if you come up with a better plan of defense than the Polish government did I will salute you.

Poles do love to distort things though!

Actually everybody does, not only Poles. The great thing about this forum is that we can all confront our visions of some historical events and myths.

Real Estate / Apartment Prices in Sopot [18]

Thank you lef for this in-depth analysis. Maybe you will help me further in some of my other questions, like what is the meaning of life? How many more episodes of "The Bold and The Beautiful" are going to be made? Will Patricia Parker Bowls ever be accepted by the vast majority of Britons? :)

Sorry, couldn’t help it. :)

The poles who have worked in other countries have not done there country men a favour.

Unfortunately or fortunately, this is capitalism for ya. :)

Real Estate / Apartment Prices in Sopot [18]

Are you saying the rich people are the ones who have come from overseas, if that' s the case won't it create a lot of tension between the locals and new rich from overseas?

Depends on how the situation will develop. As for foreigners pushing up the apartment prices, I would say that the bigger part in this phenomenon are playing Poles that are working abroad. Those few foreigners don’t make a big difference if you ask me.

Maybe I tried the wrong ones. Besides as a tough Slavic man I face my hangover like a tough Slavic man should. Without any helping pills. Even tough sometimes it means crying into a pillow! :) :)

Coming in April....me and the girls will show you how to party!

I'm starting to look out for Barcardi Rum 151 and practice. :)

Vitiman C works well too!

From my experience most of those miracle hangover cures are mostly based on vitamin C but are definitely more expensive.

It depends on what kind of alcohol you are drinking. Try whiskey with them and the situation should be the opposite of your last experience.

Love / Is it typical for Polish guys to fall in love quickly? [86]

never been in such a serious relationship, so i dont really know the right time to tell someone u love them, but im sure its not after 5weeks????

The right time to say "kocham cie" is when you really feel it. If you are not certain that you love him, than don't say it. Explain to him that it's just to early for you to say it. He will understand. Actually, I think that Poles like the feeling of uncertainty, and it will mobilize him to try harder to "get" you, which is good. :) The more effort the bigger the joy. All the best vezza. :)

Love / Help me! I fell in love with a Polish man! [137]

And what is the male equivalent?...or is he just a stud!!...who said it was an equal world!

The male equivalent would be "babiarz", "kobieciarz", "lowelas", which isn't a positive name, but at the same time it isn't as negative as "ladacznica" or "wywłoka" (eng. "slut").

Equal world? I agree that men and women should have the same rights when it comes to the law, the right to vote, equal state of wages for people that work on similar posts, etc...but we can not forget that men and women aren't the same.

If a guy doesn't have any problems that his girlfriend had sex with multiple partners every party, then I don't have any problems with it. It's not my business. But I wouldn't engage in a serious relationship with that kind of woman. Simple. :)

Life / Are Polish People Racist? [1037]

If Poles were so racist, you wouldn't have a Polish g/f, would you ?

Good point Bartolome. I would also add that those "racist" comments were made by Poles that live in the USA. Just giving my 2 p to this conversation.

PS: Bartolome good to see you back. Gdzie byłeś kiedy cie nie było? :)

the point is wether or not i had a polish girlfriend their attitude would still b the same the fact that i have a polish g/friend does not make them any less rascist, pliz can we use our brains 1st b4 respondind to the main isssues highlighted

Since comments of few polish posters make Poles seem more racist, why doesn't the attitude of your girlfriend make them seem less racist?

Love / Help me! I fell in love with a Polish man! [137]

By 1950's morality, i am refering to the idea that good girls become bad girls (and therefore worthless) by going to bed with a man too easilly and/or quickly. Whereas a man is not judged one way or the other for this.

Well than you are right. This is very similar to the polish males mentality. When we want to engage in a serious relationship we prefer that women are not to easy to get. But than again, I don't think that we would call a woman that has sex with a man on the first date a slut. A slut is a woman that does it frequently with many men. At least that’s my and my friends opinion.

News / English vs. Polish hostility [323]

Don't frighten me matyjasz, not everything you see in the movies is true

I only try to scare naughty boys, so if you behaved this year you don't have anything to worry about. :)

As for getting out knowledge from films, you are right it is very dangerous to do so, but than again, would you risk a statement that there are no white power skinheads present in Australia? Or better yet, that there are no tensions between people of different ethnic groups? Between Australians and immigrants? Before you do so, I will remind you about the riots that took place in Melbourne last year (correct me if it was a different city) where a huge group of drunk white youths ( I think it was about 1000 of them) started to beat every Arab looking people that had the misfortune to get in their way. It was as a result of beaten up two lifeguards by some Arab immigrants.

In conclusion, what would be the reaction of Poles when 600 000 immigrants landed one day in their country? My answer is, the same as any other nationality would be. Some would be ok with it, some would moan.

With poland in the EU, it will never be the same again. R.I.P

This image of Poland that you seem to display is only about 90 years old. Before the partitions of Poland, or should I say the Republic of Both Nations (Rzeczpospolita Obojga Narodów) it was a multinational country, with Poles, Lithuanians, Belarussians, Ukrainians, Jews, Armenians, etc.. living next to each other.

In what way a beautiful Polish woman is more beautiful than a beautiful English woman? :) It's sounds silly don't you think?

Love / Help me! I fell in love with a Polish man! [137]

I will not ever get into bed with a man from a country where the sexual politics are stuck in the 1950's. It's like the sixties never happened over there, thanks to Comunism and the Pope.

So perhaps they can't help it.

But you don't watch a great film or eat a great meal and then run away screaming "Look what you made me do! I have no respect for you!!!"

I don't know how does it look in the Western Europe, but personally I like to put some energy in seducing a woman. The more effort I have to give the bigger reword and satisfaction I will get after completing my goal. Sure one night stands are fun, but the excitement very quickly vanishes, and there’s this feeling of emptiness after it. There’s just something missing. Situation looks totally different when there are all those love games involved. You know, those innocent looks, first chat, the art of conversation, compliments, flowers, messages hidden somewhere between the lines, the feeling of insecurity, getting to know each other, etc... I always were paying attention to the woman’s looks, but the thing that's really sexy for me was always personality. Is this what you meant by 1950's English sexual morality?

Still, I would be far from thinking that every woman that has sex on her first date is a slut. It can also be a very pleasant and metaphysical experience. Ok , I will stop here as I am starting to sound like a bloody Santana on LSD. :) My point is, that he doesn’t have to necessarily think about you as a “easy tart”. The thing that makes me think this way is what you have written in your first post, which other users and you as well seemed to overlooked, mainly that he visited you once more before he flew home. Not a very common thing to visit a slut for just a chat (I feel like rhyming :) ), thus in my opinion the cause why he still haven't contacted you is totally different. Maybe he is just trying to figure out what to do. It’s not an easy decision to engage in a relationship with a woman from a foreign country. At some point one of you will have to decide where will be your future home. Somebody will have to go for a compromise, and taking under consideration that's it is far more easier to start a new life in the UK that would probably mean leaving his family and friends. What nationality his children would be, how would you communicate with his parents, your future mother and father in law, etc... Woman tend to follow their feelings while men try rather act more reasonable. There are many possibilities. My advice for you is to wait a little more. If he doesn’t contact you, it means that he is a coward and not worth your time and nerves anyway. Wish you all the best. :)
