Life / Polish attitudes towards drinking alcohol [72]

Hey, maybe you just need to take off that watermelon hat?

Never....death would come first.

How long are you wearing it?

Since the beginning of 2007...just about.

What's going on under there?

Lot's and lot's of electrical impulses, which travel through the nervous system and tell my body what to do....and if not that then I've got reruns of my favorite Simpson's episodes playing inside me noggin.

Life / Polish attitudes towards drinking alcohol [72]

Very true. It's also true that some families will give their 10 or 11 year old child a glass of wine with a meal. Is there a problem with that? I don't think so.

Neither do I. I usually have a beer with my dad after dinner on most days, unless I've got a game. Just one beer, or a mix drink.

I'm still alive....at least I think I am.

ElGato, I see you take it personally again. Nobody is attacking Poland, don't worry. Relax your mind and use your brain.

Nope. Just arguing my case.

:]

I am using my brain. If I weren't, my circulatory system would shut down and I wouldn't be alive... ;]

because i really don't care :)

Then why all the posts? Obviously you have some interest in the topic, otherwise you would have just said "I think people should be 18 before they drink" instead of going on into detail.

IMHO, I think the only reason you believe that 18 is the right age to be able to drink, is because you've grown up being taught that it is the right age. If it was 16 or 21 your entire life, you would believe in that age instead.

I'm one of those people that tends to leave people be, but not always. I've read somewhere that the age of consent in Holland (i think it was Holland) was 16 and then the 16 year olds could marry and do whatever. I thought it was different, but never really saw anything wrong with it. Everyone has their own culture and we should all repsect each other's cultures instead of pointing out things we dislike or disagree with.

MAAD

That's MADD.... :]

People of the East; Poles, Russians etc. tend to drink lots of vodka and they have a serious problem with alcoholism,

You're absolutely right. We're the only ones in the world that drink vodka, therefore we are the only drunks...

it dosen't matter what form the alcohol comes in or where in the world people are drinking it to excess, IT NEEDS TO BE CONTROLLED and those who go to far need to be cast away on a small ireland somehwere to live out the rest of their sorry sad lives

That's the thing. Who are YOU to tell THEM what the appropriate age is for drinking? You don't live there. Let the people of other countries make their own laws. B*tch and moan all you want about how people drink in Poland, but they can choose what laws they have. Just because someone disagrees with you, does that make them wrong?

I think drinking and ridiculing drinking at an early age is ethnocentric. A lot of your own ideals are cultural constructs and just because people smoke or drink at a different age than when you did does not mean they have problems.

Thank you! At least some people understand that if it's different, that doesn't mean it's wrong. Thank you.

You gays are funny with all "baby"talk, calling Putin "little" man and so .

Thank you. :]

He can do on the Russian territory whatever he wants.

So he can. We never said he couldn't

To much pride on your part - you want to think it's a threat, because it makes you fill important

So if we aim nukes at Russia, you won't consider it a threat?

Love / What make Polish girls better than American girls [106]

some dumb pole who drinks and beats her lol.

So we're drunken woman beaters now?

I know a few dumb pole girls who r spoiled rotten and think they are god's gift to this earth lol.

Like all the blonde californian girls they constantly put on MTV and VH1, they always seem to b*tch and complain about drama, when I see none at all...those shows are stupid.

They grew up with nothing so they feel that they have to give their children everything.

Yeah, a lot of people are like that. My uncle just had his first child, a boy, and the kid can barely walk but he's already got those battery powered cars he can ride in. I can't blame my uncle though, he'll be a great dad, he just wants to make sure his kid lives a happy life.

They can't all be rude. Some of them are very nice and exactly like us Poles. I know that the Meroshnik family is. (well the Meroshniks I know) You just never really know. Some people are just born with a hatred toward certain individuals, like racists, but w/e.

I honestly believe that somehow he convinced himself that Poland is still a Soviet satelite sountry...something's not right with this man. Great leader for the Russian people IMHO, but not so great when it comes to thinking clearly about the foreign agenda.

I read an articel today that said European tourists are coming to America and buying Timberlands out the wazoo...made me laugh, considering I get a discount on them so I pay as much as our visiting friends :]

A lot of people from Europe have been coming to America lately, and chanign Euros into dollars and getting almost $1.80 per 1 Euro. The shift in power happened so fast....

News / So how do poles feel about the illegal immigration from mexico? [25]

El Kitty, you're wrong!

I'm taking political science. We just talked about it few days ago. Its in our book and everything. I can go onto wikipedia right now and change it so that is says German is the official language. Not a very reliable source.

I've been told that English was established as the official language only recently, so I don't know what to make of it. Something like a year or 2 ago they changed it.

USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

Your post made me think of something else.

Yeah. I'm just looking at it from both perspectives. In my neighborhood all we have to worry about are kids opening some people's unlocked cars and stealing some money and stuff. If you ask me, if your car is unlocked you are asking to be robbed, so whatever.

USA, Canada / Several shot at Northern Illinois University, USA [38]

yeah, tell that to the mothers of the kids with bullet shattered bodies!

Shot by other children or some dumb@ss who thinks he's a gangsta.

Your "freedoms" are more important than the lives of these children, tsk.

You're right. All the children ever killed were killed by legally owned guns. Great observation. Most people who kill have guns illegally. The News tries to make our world controversial by saying "This crazy bastard killed a hundred people with his hunting rifle" while badboy gangsta in the ghetto has probably done the same but gets bailed out of jail by his crack dealing friends.

I guarantee that the vast majority of shootings are done with illegal guns. So taking away the freedom to own them legally wouldn't even put a dent into the numbers, seeing as the police have a hard enough time finding the illegal ones now.

I'm assuming you're from over the pond? Somehow you guys have gotten your laws to work, but life in America is very different. I can take you on a tour some day and you'll see things my way. We won't be able to walk down some streets without getting mugged by some crazy crack addict who wants your money for some blow. In some areas it really is that bad. Just a sad fact of life.

but,you step out onto the street with a gun and your not a law enforcement officer, you get shot or arrested by said law enforcement agencies

Its legal to take a gun outside. Its also legal to own a concealed weapon, but not on government property. With the right papers it is right, but most people don't have them and usually get busted eventually.

And whats with all the frikkin assault rifles and sporting SMGs?.....

USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

The thing with the gun cabinets and safes, though, is that what if you own a handgun for protection? A lot of people live in bad areas, and own guns to protect themselves if someone tries to break in and kill them (which happens a lot in the US, sadly) Last year a bunch of gang members broke into an elderly woman's house and shot her in the back of the head then robber her.

Imagine, you live in a ghetto or some other bad neighborhood, and someone breaks in to steal some stuff, but wakes you up and decides they are going to kill you because you can report what they look like to the police. What are you going to do?

"Oh sorry mister criminal, let me just go to my gun safe real quick and then find my ammo and load the gun before you decide to kill me."

For people with hunting rifles and other larger guns, gun safes and cabinets are a great investment, but for a bad neighborhood, I'd feel safer with a 9mm inderneath my pillow. I've seen what can happen and heard stories of people getting killed by would be robbers.

Idk, I guess it depends on your situation.

Most states, in fact, won't even let you hunt with one, because the weapon is considered underpowered for killing DEER....

Its true. A lot of people around here with some sort of disability are allowed to hunt with semi-auto AR-15s and have told me they shot the deer 3 times and it lived long enough to get away from them. Those guns are better at feeding coyotes than getting yourself some deer jerkey.

News / So how do poles feel about the illegal immigration from mexico? [25]

The United States does not have an official language

It didn't until a few years ago. The official language is now English. Was changed only recently.

Both things will happen in about 15-20 years.

You're right. Millions of muslims will flood into Europe in the next 20 years and outnumber the Catholics and Protestants. Nice try. Even if a Muslim flood came, I guarantee it wouldn't go smoothly. Some people would end up losing it and wars would ensue, and considering that the Christian countries are the most powerful in the world, game over for european muslims.

(thats only IF it happened, which it won't, not in 20 years. 200 maybe, but not 20)

Life / Racist violence in Poland [172]

No, what you mean is that you are too much of a coward to do anything unless you have your ten skinhead friends to back you up

I'd like to see you drive a couple hundred miles just to fight Gzreg :]

First of all, he's not a bigot. He makes jokes here and there and obviously you over-reacted. Also, I don't know if he's racist or not, but he's a decent guy and I guarantee he isn't a skinhead. So before you go and make some more comments just think about what I've said.

Bad things happened to your colored friend in Poland. So a couple of bastards don't like black people, you think Poland is the only country in the world with racists? There are tons of racists in the US, the only reason they don't go around beating colored people is because the law usually catches up with them. As of now, maybe Polish police could care less about a black guy getting beat up, but it will change. It was like that everywhere until only recently.

Go down to southern US and right "I Love Black People" on your car and shirts. See what happens.

Don't make all of Poland seem like a bunch of racist pricks until there is absolutely no racism in any other country in the world. Just one. Good luck finding a country like that. Everyone is racist, just not all to the same extent.

I myself am not racist, but occasionally I'll laugh when a black girl says "Oh no he didn't!" in an ebonic accent. Am I evil for doing so? If so then I never want to here Dave Chappelle talk about white people eer again.

Racism is universal, and sadly will always be around. We just have to learn to live around it. There are some parts of Poland that would be safer for a black guy than others, but thats no different from any other country in the world.

they will all have well paid career jobs, leaving them no time to spend cooking and cleaning and they will be less likely to look for foreign boyfriends as they will want to stay in Poland and marry a rich Catholic Polish man. All you guys happy now?

lol. That puts a damper on some of the foreign boys' plans...

Life / Polish attitudes towards drinking alcohol [72]

RockyMason

Why does it matter? It's not like teens in America don't drink. Search the statistics and find out how many 13-18 year olds drink their way through Jr High and High school. The only difference is that a lot of Poles don't blow it up to make a big deal out of it.
