USA, Canada / Polish-US marriage and divorce. [26]

I suppose, then why did she go through all the trouble to stay married to this guy just to get a green card and go back. The green card is valid for only two years untill she gets a permanent resident card and she doesn't file income taxes and show proof that she lives in the US it will be nullified.

Just wondering why.

Language / nice things to say to a girl in polish [103]

what does yabushka mean?

jabłuszka - means apples

How do you say "give me a walking stick" in Polish?

"daj mi patyk do chodzenia" ? I think, exact translation but it doesn't sound right.

Life / The strangest things in Poland [468]

I think it's weird. I live in the US and not many people do it. We buy all season tires and they work very good, plus as soon as it snows the plows hit the roads. Not like in Poland, where you need to change tires because they don't plow the roads as well.

Life / Anti-spanking law in Poland? [76]

You don't need to spank children. That is not true that they will be brats if you don't. Spanking only teaches them to be afraid of their parents and not trust them and it makes them stupid. Maybe all of you who believe in spanking are that way. There are other ways of disciplining children and one is through understanding and communication with the child what is right and what is wrong. Not through physical punishment. What loving mother would even dare inflict pain on her child? That is crazy. People have to open up their minds and see that spanking is cruel and unnecessary. It teaches the wrong things in life. Those who believe in spanking were spanked themselves and think it's the best thing in the world because they are afraid to admit that they are wrong.

Language / Any sweet Polish phrases [255]

Daniel is not a moose species, but a deer. And in Polish it's a Jeleń Daniel. And a Jeleń is an elk but a deer is a sarna so depending on the type of deer it can be a white-tail deer which in Polish is a Jeleń Wirgiński, or an elk which is also a Jeleń. And a Deer is a Sarna.

Life / What breeds of dogs are now popular in Poland? [40]

Breeds of dogs come and go. Pitbulls and rotts are in. It's just a fad all over the world. Next will be the Dandie Dinmont Terrier and the King Charles Spaniel.

There are more cars on the roads than 17 years ago.
More McDonald's and Pizza Huts.
More Malls.
More motels (zajazdy), gas stations, more variety at the markets and giełdy.
Pretty much the same people but more stuff.

Love / Married a Polish guy. Now what? [40]

Maybe buy him TV set with Polish TV so he could enjoy Poland somehow.

I did. But later cancelled it coz he wasn't watching it and it was expensive. $30.00 a month extra for 3 Polish programs. I did everything for this guy and treated him like a king, but now I think I know where I made an error. He got too much of a good thing too soon.

What's your and his age?

I'm 41 he's 45. He has a kid in Poland coz he was divorced. Never met the kid.
He claims his previous wife was cheating on him, so maybe he has a problem trusting women?

Love / Married a Polish guy. Now what? [40]

I meet him on the internet. He says he loves me. I get him a visa. He come to the US, I marry him. After marriage he thinks I cheat on him. Not true. He buys me flowers, I forgive him. Again. Same thing. He thinks I cheat on him. Not true again. More flowers. He gets yeast infection and sores on his uncircumsized thingy there. But before he knows what the helll he's got, he asks if I've been cheating on him insinuating I gave him vd. I wasn't and I didn't. He accuses me of giving him aids. I don't have aids. I am very upset about these accusations after I do everything for this guy.

What should I do now? I feel bad he treats me this way after I gave him everything. Is this normal behaviour for Polish guys?

He is mad at me now, he says he has no family here, doesn't speak the language well and he says I "oblałam go" whatever that means....

Love / friendhship with polish girl [63]

This goes for Polish guys also who come to the United States. I knew such a guy, I have helped with everything and bent over backwards for him and yet he was unable to appreciate anything I've done for him, wanted even more and accused me of things I've never done.

The lesson here: When you do too much for someone and they take advantage of you, end the relationship.
I did.
And next time don't spread yourself so thin.

Life / What do Polish people usually do on Sunday? [40]

On Sundays people go to church then they will stop at a cukiernia buy some ciastka, pączki, pastry and go visit family, then have dinner together, then go for a walk in the park. It's a family day and some people don't believe in working on Sundays.
