Feedback / PolishForums.com mission needs to be plastered on the front of this forum [49]

he'll kill this place..

You seem to be waiting for that to happen...

meddle a bunch with people's posts

Ah I see now. It's better to be reading an interesting thread and then suddenly it's fighting and insulting mixed in with the on-topic posts. Silly me, I assumed it was better to have nicely flowing threads without having to read people having personal arguments in them.

Life / Lebanese willing to Move to Poland. [18]

Actually if you read his post...Raficoo is half Polish and spends part of each year in Poland. He's asking some pertinent questions which is better than you ever do noimmigration.

Rafic, there are threads on the forum about the Internet in Poland, have a look around. The other stuff I can't help you with but I am sure someone can. Good luck :)

UK, Ireland / Angelika Kluk's murderer found guilty of killing Vicky Hamilton. [5]

This man must never be allowed to walk free again. The odds are he'll die in jail as he's 62 and must serve at least 30 years.

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/tayside_and_central/7754313.stm

Tobin Found Guilty...Again...

Convicted killer and sex offender Peter Tobin has been found guilty of the murder of Falkirk schoolgirl Vicky Hamilton, who disappeared 17 years ago.

Tobin, 62, was convicted of abducting, raping and killing the 15-year-old, who was last seen alive in Bathgate, West Lothian, on 10 February 1991.

Sadly I don't think those two girls are the only ones he's murdered over the years.

Life / Rudeness of polish people when they are drunk [43]

I, on the other hand, have passed out on the bathroom floor in front of him. But I don't get rude though, I just get really woozy.

A sure sign that alcohol is not for you... ;)

Banging into people when you're drunk isn't really a sign of rudeness I guess, more a sign of "tipsyness" but pouring drinks over peoples belongings is just bad manners whether the person is drunk or not. Being drunk is not an excuse for bad behaviour.

When I drink I sometimes get the giggles. :)

Feedback / Great site!!! [15]

Now how come this thread has even less than 10 posts?

It's a fantastic site and we should be say more about that. It's easier, of course, to moan about something but this is the thread I prefer. PF is great. Thank you to dogiel for pointing that out because sometimes we forget all the good that this site does.

Long live PF, you're fantastic. :)

Life / Rudeness of polish people when they are drunk [43]

Yeah I'm with Switezianka, you need to change where you drink. Obviously they don't mind people there who drink until they fall down. Drinks get spilled by accident but when it's done deliberately then you know that person has a nasty streak in them. If the girl had been a nice person she would have apologised and you'd not have seen her the rest of the night.

Love / Moved to Poland to my younger boyfriend, now got sick; he's got a new one [194]

While I would always advise going to the police so that they are aware of the situation, I have to agree that the police in Poland would probably class this as a domestic bust-up and not really do much about it. They might speak to the guy involved and scare him up a little but I doubt they would do much more. It's sad to say but the Police in Poland will not take this too seriously at this point. It's much like the UK until recently, things classed as "domestic incidents" were treated with a lower level of priority than other crimes.

Love / Understanding Polish Man [41]

Communication is key in anything and if one or the other is failing at that bad things happen. Just outright ask him whats up. If he stutters or makes excuses he is trying to get away from this. If he tells you his feelings got hurt or something you have your reason :)

That's the best advice. Ask the guy...!!!

But u are right, maybe I offended him :S

gtd is right. Don't be too hard on yourself. If you offended him it was completely unintentional but you need to ask him why and how in order to move on and get through this stage.

By the way, if he stutter, he might just be nervous. Play it cool. You'll get there...

Love / Understanding Polish Man [41]

So... maybe I really pissed him off this last time :S

Well, maybe you did. I just realise you are Latin-American. A hot-blooded girl! ;) So maybe you were too feisty for him? ;)

I don't know. Perhaps you offended him and don't realise how.

Or maybe he is thinking that he doesn't know how to fix this. Just keep trying. If he's your pal for real you'll get through this.

Love / Understanding Polish Man [41]

I got mad, then he got mad,

So you got mad. What did you get mad about? The subject may have some influence over why this fight was worse than some others.

I have periodic arguments with a Polish male friend and he's so laid back and when I think about it afterwards I realise it's usually my fault because I have been in a bad mood. When he is in a bad mood I usually let it slide. We've never fallen out even over the worst arguments.

So yes, I am with gtd and Wroclaw, I think this guy is wanting to reduce your friendship so is being like this because of that.

Love / Tips for organizing Polish-English wedding in Poland with US guests. [17]

Well, which kinds of guests do you have coming? Are they family or friends or what?

You could advise them as to Polish wedding traditions. You could explain when to expect what at what times. And keep the vodka flowing... ;)

I don't think you'll actually have a problem though. I doubt your American guests will be bored but maybe the Polish celebrations will be too exhausting for them. ;)

Language / My Learning Polish Woes... [64]

She decided to start learning, at least in part (you could ask her) beause she does have a Polish boyfriend.

Does she? I was under the impression she was married (not to a Polish guy) but had taken her love from Poland from a visit(s) a while back.

But please, let's not let this thread descend into a rabble about swearing in either language but let's continue to encourage LondonChick in her learning of a beautiful language.

UK, Ireland / All That Manners Business [I'm Polish, moved to UK as an au pair.] [87]

I can safely say that if there is any problem with her relationship with AvJoeUK's mother, the blame is really the mother's.

You can't safely say that at all. You haven't met his Mother so you only have the opinion of one side of the conflict. As nice as Wyspi probably is for the most part, we are all aware of how "spicy" she can be on the forums. ;) So until you meet AvJoeUK's Mother and hear her side too, you can't safely say anything at all about the situation.

Thats not the issue, slagging your b/f's mother off on a forum that your b/f used to visit is!

I agree with this. What if the b/f is still visiting the forum though? How do we know he isn't? I can't imagine he'd be too happy reading this sort of thread about his Mother.

To answer Wyspianska's original problem though - you've just come across an age old scenario. Mother's of boys always test their girlfriends. It's nothing new. You should look at ways of working through it rather than posting it all on the forums.

Good luck! :)

News / March of Tolerance in Krakow [478]

Some diseases are considered incurable (at least currently).

Exactly. That's why I wrote "trying".

And you base this on... millions of years before the word "medicine" came to being and what.... 200 years when any kind of serious medical research started? How about ants, or lice, or birds. Do they have their own medical science? Without it they would have been extinct long time ago. Some species are tens of million of years old. I never heard about doctors among crocodiles. But then, I haven't watched TV in a long while.

I wrote "could" have been wiped out not "would". Never mind medical research then. Throughout time humans have developed cures for various things or the human body has evolved to be less to prone to something. It is going the other way now though, bacteria mutating faster than be kept up with, antibiotics not being able to tackle them.

Okay though, lets forget about medicine for a while. Let's take a year of no vaccinations anywhere in the world and see how we cope. (Fact is we wouldn't because we are so used to having them).

Thinking of ants, lice or birds - there are many varieties of each and yes, some have become extinct.

How do you know? You must have some deep insight into the future of medical science.

I don't for sure. It's just a belief of mine that homosexuality is "just the way you are" in the same way that I am heterosexual. There's nothing that indicates to me that it's an illness so therefore it doesn't require a cure and probably can't be stopped.

I do have a question for those who believe homosexuality is a disease or illness - what are the symptoms?

News / March of Tolerance in Krakow [478]

The same could be said about cancer, avian flu, HIV and thousand others.

Could be but they are all diseases, homosexuality is not.

Therefore, using your nevertheless interesting and smart argument, there are no diseases at all, and it's all just a part of evolution. Medical science is such a waste or time and money.

Disease is something the human race is trying to eradicate and yes, each disease is a trial to the human race throughout time. So no, medical research/science is not a waste of time or money, without it we could have been wiped out before now by any number of diseases. Homosexuality is not something that medical research can eradicate though. Perhaps through time they might be able to isolate why some people are drawn to their own sex but I doubt they'll ever "cure" it.

Homosexuals do not have the natural drive to do what it takes to maintain the human species. If all of us suddenly turned into homosexuals then in roughly 100 years from now the last representative of homo sapiens would mark the end of the human race. In that respect, on a wide scale, homosexuality is a disorder

That is indeed a very good point and it could well be the way the human race is destined. Over a longer period of time than a hundred years of course. ;) The natural process of human evolution might be homosexuality with the eventual result of extinction. Therefore, it would have nothing to do with being a "disease".

Life / "Finalistki Miss Polonia 2007" WHO'S THAT GIRL?? [34]

Maybe it was just her opinion tho Misty. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Of course it's her opinion. Actually I was being general. Some women are like that, according to them every other female is ugly, fat etc.

low self esteem...? or different taste in women?

Well, being a heterosexual female I don't have a taste in women. I just appreciate beauty for what it is.

Life / "Finalistki Miss Polonia 2007" WHO'S THAT GIRL?? [34]

She's ugly.

Why are some girls like this? Always downing other girls because they are pretty. Something wrong with that I think.

The girl in the picture has a simple, natural prettiness and a lovely figure.

News / Poles are coming home [35]

Actually the article talks about one man returning home and then only the possibility of others returning and the actuality that many won't and the impact that will have on Poland.

So z_darius, what was the point to your thread?

Language / SMS known to English speakers? [6]

An American told me he was unfamiliar with the term SMS and said in the States it was called texting

That's odd. I know a couple of Americans and a couple of Canadians and they say "SMS". Although maybe they're using "texting" more now.

UK, Ireland / EU Elections June 2009, will Poles in UK vote? Will others vote? [29]

have not voted for a number of years now, which some will say is stupid

I wouldn't say it was stupid because it's your choice but I do believe that if you don't use your vote you then shouldn't complain about the way the country is run or decisions made by the party in power (not just you but anyone who doesn't vote).

Mister H is right. People should vote.

News / The advantages and good reputation of Polish workers [45]

If this forum would be under my control, I would have banned such intentionally destructive and dirty writers like You already.

Lucky for the free-speaking world that it's not under your control then or it would only have threads that were started by you and containing posts you considered "suitable". 1984 anyone?

Let's put it another way then.

People don't visit your Edinburgh because the natives go around smiling all day and it's not the reason they visit Kraków either.

Life / Appreciate any remarks on life in Kraków [41]

hey misty come our tourist areas on a Saturday. You'll know what im on about. If you don't smile when you dance there is something wrong.

Yes Edinburgh tourist spots on a Saturday, I have been there recently. I don't know that many people were smiling as they danced. Anyway, the fact is, smiling is relative and doesn't make a city. If you only half enjoyed your trip then at least you didn't completely hate it. ;)

Life / Appreciate any remarks on life in Kraków [41]

For a start they need to learn to smile. life is too short to always walk about like the world is going to end tomorrow.

Fair comments but this one I have to ask you about. Is it normal to see people wandering around with grins plastered across their faces? Not really. Did you smile at people and then they didn't smile back? Or did you just think that not many people smile as they go about their daily lives? :)

UK, Ireland / Integrating Polish people into the British society [150]

Why is it that every time "Polish people" and "Britain" are mentioned in the one sentence it turns into a discussion/moan about immigration?

Fair enough, there are immigration concerns and, Mister H, you have written to your local MP and you have had no satisfaction over that. What else did you do?

I have Polish friends that have every intention of staying here and they are working hard so that in the future they will be able to give a better contribution to Britain. Probably a better contribution than some Brits are willing to give. My Polish friends are going through college, then university, one of them is working his way through the ranks in the kitchen where he works. It looks like he'll go to college next year to begin getting qualifications in the cookery business. He loves it. Not bad for someone who started as a kitchen porter.

Not all Polish people will stay here. A vast majority will actually head home to Poland in the next few years and then we might be struggling. Who'll take on the low-paid, menial jobs? Please answer me that one because it won't be the Brits. They wouldn't take the jobs before so why would they take them after?

I am sick to the back teeth about people moaning about Polish people in this country. Thread after thread after thread moaning about immigration issues here clears absolutely nothing up, it just annoys people and gives a negative attitude about Britain.
