News / could someone explain about finance shops please [11]

I have been in situations where payday has been monthly, semi-monthly, bi-weekly and weekly. Just depends on the employer.

yes, you are right BUT - it's very, I mean very uncommon in Poland... i don't know a single person who work fulltime and get salary every week, every other week or sth... everybody have monthly pay day. Moreover it's very uncommon to ask your future employer (say during interview) when is the pay day... it's just because everybody by default think that he will receive salary on some specific day every month.

Think about it. If you are so broke that you need next week's pay today

we get salaries every month not week - at least it's not common practice in Poland.. maybe some physical workers get money every week.

Perhaps someone on the forum understands the sudden need for places to get money!

Banks have money and that's it... it's common that wide-known Polish banks have 200-300 branches all over the country.

but i heard recently that they also struggle with crisis and some are going to close every 5th/6th branch...

just notice that most often those branches are empty (i mean by that that at least 80% of time the only people inside are company workers).

Love / Do Polish guys think getting physically violent with a woman is OK? [40]

I get the impression that there is a sub-current of opinion among Poles that in some situations it's pretty much the only option

wrong impression...

just keep in mind that many stupid 'dresow' went to england/ireland etc for easy money 2-3 yrs ago and while you aren't polish most probably you don't know if you're talking with 'dres' (or seeing his actions) or just normal guy.

Life / How much Zloty to have an average life in Poland? [98]

I've been living in Warsaw (alone) for a year and I can say that:

- 2000zl is enough to survive
- 2500zl definitelly you will survive, moreover you can go to a pub or disco/cinema from time to time
- 3000zl is enough to not to worry about everything

and salary above 3000zl is more than enough for (one) typical Polish person.

I shall be leaving Warsaw airport at about 11.40/12.00 and need to be in Lublin at 4pm at the very latest.

train - 1.15pm warsaw central station - 3.45 lublin central train station.

The safest way...

100 meter direction north in Al. Jana Pawla, and you will find many small buses

another one bus stop is 200 meters from Aleja Jana Pawla - at Emilii Plater street.

it leaves you directly next to Lublin Castle (Old Town) in Ruska street

Ruska also isn't a place where I would like to be in the middle of the night, lol :D If I'd have to choose I would prefer to be near the train central station at night ;)

Don't be shy in approaching the bus drivers to buy your tickets, some people just don't respect the line and will jump before you to ensure a place in the bus!

don't forget there is phone ticket reservation for buses! If you didn't reserve your seat then you can enter the bus if there are free seats.

News / What Poland thinks about China [27]

Generally speaking I think that Polish people know very little about China... some of us like Chinese food :)
