Creating a not-for-profit association (stowarzyszenie) in Poland

Hi all

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on (or preferably a link to an English-language 'How-to' guide) how to set up a 'stowarzyszenie'. A group of us ex-pats in Krakow want to start a drama group, and it seems we have to go through legal hoops to do so.

I'm just starting to translate some Polish-language guidelines I found, but I'd love to have an English-language version, if poss.

Thanks in advance.

Be aware of what you'll be getting into - a stowarzyszenie is treated the same as a company here, so you have monthly accounts, reams of paperwork, the need for a supervisory board, annual reporting to various and sundry official bodies, full personal/legal responsibility for any money you handle, meeting filing deadlines etc to look forward to. Go get some decent legal advice!

there is also sth called 'stowarzyszenie zwykłe' (don't know how to translate this) - minimum of paperwork, but also very llimited 'rights'.
