Travel / Going to Poland this summer -- US dollar prediction... [34]

An interesting debate on currency markets..... HOWEVER.... assuming that you're not going to be buying property or making any big-ticket purchases while you're in Poland, don't let it spoil your trip, as your losses wont be all that significant.

My cousin from NYC came to visit me over the Christmas holidays, and spent the whole time b1tching and bellyaching about the exchange rate... even though we took her to some fab places that were actually good value for money. I think that this took a lot of the enjoyment out of her trip, as the exchange rate was all that she wrote about in her blog (rather than the cool parties that we went to etc).

UK, Ireland / Polish worker's excuse and a vacuum cleaner (UK) [79]

Waaaaah!! I love this story... reminds me of when I was at uni, and one of our house-mates was caught erm... how do I put this.... er.... with his knob in a milk bottle.

Love / Does she like me? - help needed please from any Polish girls.. [79]

I'm a British, but hey.... girls are girls....

I'm guessing that you are fairly young, right? Go with the flow - go out to Poland and enjoy it, don't rush her into things - have a laugh and discover one of the most facinating countries in Europe.

Talk to her, hang out with her and generally pick up the signals - if ethe signals aren't there, don't force anything... just enjoy the friendship.

Does that make sense?

Love / Shall we go back to interracial relationships for a bit? [50]

the white girls who are with black are driven not by love but by fowl depraved lusts borne out of a unintelligent mind and the lack of a father or if they have a father he is feckless

cluck, cluck LOL!

Travel / EasyJet suspends flights to Gdansk [9]

I don't work with the PNTO, but I do work in the travel industry, and my impression is that they do a lot of PR (press trips to generate good editorial in the press and general promotional activity etc).

I went to the World Travel Market at Excel at the end of last year, and was quite impressed with their presence there.

I guess the challenge that Poland faces is to encourage tourism, yet steer away from the stag-party madness. Sure Krakow's popular with groups of lads, yet it's nowhere near as bad as Tallin or Prague.

Cheers for the tip - Kuracyjny was in fact on my short-list.

Council estate mums pushing prams, bleached hair, smoking, loud regional accent, Argos jewellery, tattoos, bad skin.
This isnt a judgement just an observation.

I'm guessing that you live in the burbs....

I live in Central London, and know so many different people who have interracial relationships.

In fact, my sister is a barrister (blonde / pale skinned) and is married to a chap from Antigua. She so doesn't match the stereotype that you describe.

Love / Shall we go back to interracial relationships for a bit? [50]

I find that white men who date women from asia and other non western countries because they cannot pick up a white woman.

I don't think that this is true in every case, but yes... I've met my fair share of older ugly chaps with Thai / Russian wives who are 20 years younger than them. Hmmm... wonder what the balance is like in those relationships....

Also when I see a white girl with a non-white guy she tends to look a bit....mmm... trashy.

Totally judgemental. Care to elaborate?

Travel / EasyJet suspends flights to Gdansk [9]

I don't think that you can blame the fact that the PNTO's website has been beta for so long...

Whenever I decide to visit a country, I generally tend to gather feedback from friends, colleagues, forums etc. and check out prices and deals on sites like travelocity and lastminute.com etc. I don't think that I've ever consulted a national tourist office before booking a trip.

Travel / EasyJet suspends flights to Gdansk [9]

Maybe they just couldn't compete with BMI Baby, Wizz, Ryan Air and Central Wings, all of which fly to Gdansk? In fact some of these airlines started / will start routes to Gdansk in 2008.

I also firmly believe that the majority of Brits think Poland is virtually a third world country, that it is located somewhere close to the North Pole and is always cold, and that flight times from the UK are 4 hours +

Yes, I've met people who hold this opinion (you should have seen the ugly middle class grimace when I suggested that I was going to Poland for my dental treatment), yet I do believe that things are getting better.

I am in fact thinking of taking my mother to a spa resort on the Baltic coast at some point later this year.

Life / Polish dentists - good and cheap? [84]

I always make a point of having my teeth done when I'm in Warsaw, and I've been happy with the treatment and I don't get all the hard sell for other procedures that I don't really need, like I was getting from my dentist in London. Getting veneers later this year... I'll be looking like :D

Genealogy / Races of white people... [99]

redhead - gorgeous Celtic person with lovely colouring

redneck - person who lives in the Midwest, plays a banjo, sits in a rocking chair on his porch, drives a pick-up truck and has sex with his sister who is probably also his mother.

Where in Greece did you go?

Volos and then onto the Pelion Peninsula.

Great hiking and hanging out on the beach during the day and fab food and chilled out beers in tavernas in the evening... bliss

Learn some manners, British lady.

Only joking, mate.

I've been to Greece a couple of times (not Faleraki - just to make that clear) and I loved it :)

UK, Ireland / 2 Polish men killed in Drimnagh, Dublin [29]

What a terrible tragedy.

Do we know if they were attacked because they were Polish, or was it a random attack?

(and yes, I agree with you..... the Polish girls are the hottest in the world / is my bf cheating because he is Polish? type threads are getting a little tedious)
