Love / Polish Womens bodies [126]

as most gals in USA are all about fitness and body tone

Are you sure about the word 'most'?... doesnt the USA have one of the biggest obesity problems?

I met this slim Polish gal (almost model, 5'9'') and upon touching her back for the first time it felt like that fake foam on a mouse mad / wrist pad...or like a much older (50-60s) women.

and im not surprised you ar a Bachelor if you are comparing women to computer accessories.

I think you will find that its cellulite you are talking about, which affects many women, regardless of their size or nationality.

UK, Ireland / The un-acceptable side of new entrant countries coming to the UK [56]

its strange the way the two boys are going to marry (or looks that way) commoners!

i dont think you will find they (the girlfriends) are that 'common'.. they may not be titled, but both were born into affluent upper class families.. the same as Princess Diana was. C'mon they are hardly going to marry a working class girl are they?

Worse still, there is a very strong correlation between low-class English people especially and educational under-achievement

Thats a great attitude! what are you basing this on? would love to know what your real name is?

OK well you are entitled to your views.. and I dont profess to know those kind of people.. however, Britains investment in overseas affairs is one thing and stating that the only way forward is for everyone to become a British citizen as everyone will ultimately be answering to us is quite another. You are sounding a bit like Hitler.

Ethically it's very wrong for the people living in Poland and other countries as they will essentially all be answering to the english in the future

The only real future is to make yourself a British citizen whilst you have the chance.

Surely, you dont really believe this Lee?

i work in the public sector, we have a contributory pension scheme.. I have to admit I havent joined it, even though Ive been here for 9 years.. shocking I know, but truthfully I cant afford the contributions as Public Sector wages arent very high. By the time I retire, the state pension will most likely be abolished. Just wanted to inject a bit of realism into Peter's comment.

UK, Ireland / UK Poles eligible to work - do they need additional permit? [9]

only your passport.. if you want to work legally in the UK you need to register for tax and National Insurance, but you do that when you are here.. otherwise you look for a low paid cash in hand job.. which is what many people do...not that I agree with that, as a UK taxpayer.

Love / Polish men are more sexy.... [64]

suppose it depends on the individual.. i had a very hectic social life before I settled down with the Polako, so the change was a bit of a shock.. but hey. anyway, good luck Daffy.. hope it works out for you with the Polaka...btw.. I love your 5 word story and the new movie thread (although its not proving too popular so far).. they brighten up my day at work.

Love / Polish men are more sexy.... [64]

thats very interesting. Personally I would like more space, but its pretty impossible to get it . Polish culture seems to dictate that you spend a lot of time together, which is great.. but I dont think its normal not to want to spend some time with your friends and not with your loved one, even if its only once a month or so.. this is a constant source of friction for me and one which I ultimately believe will come between us.. even though we love each other very much. Hes now agreed that I can go out with female friends on occassion, but not male ones (even if they are gay!) If men and women generally dont understand one another, it is doubly hard in an intercultural relationship.

Interesting.

not literally.. just arguing.. cos he told me he had found a great job with lots of money.. and I didnt realise he was being sarcastic :)

we laugh about that at times and just long to be togehter finally

does she live in Poland? Although I love him, I must admit that sometimes I long for being 'untogether' (as in not living together)..ah, the joys of domestic bliss and intercultural relationships..

UK, Ireland / Foreigners: Please buy the Irish Land! [49]

and the price of london? have to be crazy buy a house there ......no?

not crazy, just very rich. I reckon house prices will be on the increase in Northern Ireland now. A mate of mine has a 4 bed house in Belfast that she bought for next to nothing about 15 yrs ago, she is now living in rented accommodation in London. If she sold the 4 bed house she might just about get a 1 or possibly 2 bed flat in a dodgy area of London.. that should give you some idea of the difference in house prices..

lets all move to Ireland.. the people are friendly, the Guinness is great and houses are still relatively cheap..and I didnt even mention the sexy accent.

Not saying the Poles had bad sense of humor....just too much cultural difference to understand each others humor.....

you are right.. humour is the hardest thing to translate between cultures.. my bf was trying to be sarcastic the other day and we ended up fighting because I thought he was being serious.. and he often doesnt understand my humour either..still, you gotta laugh about it havent you :)

UK, Ireland / How many Poles in greater London?!? [7]

a lot. I dont think its millions.. total estimated number of Poles in the UK is anything between 750,000 to 2 million. Probably about half of them live in London.. OK I know this isnt statistically correct, but it will give you some idea. We are even having road signs in Polish now!

Travel / me in poland :) [37]

oh dear, see ive unwittingly started a right to wear the veil debate.. Razz is right, there are many educated Muslim women who choose to wear the veil, not because it is enforced upon them by their menfolk..so it should not be viewed as a symbol of oppression.. but of course every Muslim country and culture is different as are the types of veils worn, so it is dangerous to generalise.. in some countries it is compulsory. blah, blah, blah..............
