margaretPhilly 28 Mar 2007 / #1Polish are eligible to work in UK, but do they need like a paper work from the Polish goverment or something when they are applying for a job in UK?
sapphire 22 | 1,241 29 Mar 2007 / #5only your passport.. if you want to work legally in the UK you need to register for tax and National Insurance, but you do that when you are here.. otherwise you look for a low paid cash in hand job.. which is what many people do...not that I agree with that, as a UK taxpayer.
Varsovian 92 | 634 29 Mar 2007 / #6The problem is for those Poles who worked in the UK before Jan 1st this year, as they are liable for double taxation on UK earnings before Jan 1st 2007.Hence, some Poles are very cautious about going back to Poland as they are scared of being pursued by the Polish tax authorities for non-payment of Polish income tax on earnings which have already been taxed in the UK.There is also a wholly-worthless voluntary registration scheme in the UK.
Bartolome 2 | 1,085 29 Mar 2007 / #8I guess a way to avoid double taxation is to 'unregister' in your community - my dad has done it for me, and now I'm 'homeless' in Poland :)
daffy 23 | 1,508 29 Mar 2007 / #9I thought this double tax law had been abolished?from an accountant - yes, yes it has.anyone saying otherwise needs to check it out. All the EU countries have double taxation agreements in place between one another. If you need any individual advice, PM me.
