I wouldn't go through the process of changing your name because some people can't pronounce it. Marcin is your name and other people should learn how to pronounce it. It took me a while to learn how to pronounce Marcin after I first met my friend who has that name. He accepts being called "Martin" but I dont think he should.

Changing your name is changing your identity to suit other people.


I have the easiest name to spell and pronounce but I still got cards at work with my name spelled differently or letters missing. These were cards written by British people I have known for years. My friend Sarah gets "Sahra" on a card every year from one girl.

You can use the search engine here to find out more about name days though, then when you find out that someone's birthday, you can surprise them after it by knowing their name day :)

Is there anything in the contract about upgrading? The strange thing here in the UK is that a lot of these "contracts" are made over the phone and nothing is ever signed, no terms and conditions are ever agreed to with a signature and it used to be that a signature was needed for anything to be valid...not so sure now though and also not sure about Poland...

Correct. When you need to make money, you will take the first thing that will make money for you...then you move onto more when the time is right. If I planned a move to Poland I may be able to get a job doing what I currently do but I'd certainly consider teaching English as a starter.

Yeah I've just been doing some more reading. There was an attempt to twin Wroclaw and Coventry but I don't know if it was successful. Other than that, I don't think Wroclaw has a UK twin.

I also get annoyed with the "Polish stealing our jobs" posts because I know that my company advertises any position well, in different newspapers and online also and in the Job Centre yet there are some positions some Brits seem to see as "below" themselves and don't apply for...so if they aren't willing to apply for these jobs, I must employ someone who will...

Strangely this was a conversation I had with someone today. My company also employs Polish workers in all departments and I was thinking today that had it not been for them, this company would have been in serious trouble recently. Basically because when we've advertised these jobs no one from the UK has applied.


Well, quite rightly, I've had a few complaints recently from some of the Polish workers and mostly I've found them to be justified.

There are many more articles to be read on this subject...but it is interesting to note from these articles and comments on the forum the differences in opinion North and South of the border and I'm not saying any of those opinions are wrong but for such a small country (UK), the opinions are massively different.
