Well, 30 is oji-san age in Japan so it could be for some here too. I do find some rudeness to be honest but I don't let it get to me. They are gonna be the way they are gonna be so why fret? Some customers here are in a bit too much of a hurry, like they are VIP's who really have to be somewhere. I've had that 3 times now, where sb starts putting stuff on the conveyor line when u r still putting ur stuff on. Whenever I pick up that dividing bar, people often take it as a hostile step rather than me just using it for what it is there for. The third time I was so peeved that I just pushed their shopping back to create space for mine. It's like a fashion here that I will stamp out. I also grin away at the checkout attendants, they look at me like I'm mad but I sometimes get a positive reaction.

It's not only Poland where u have the young/old divide in attitude. In Japan, there was the rojinrui and shinjinrui. The rojinrui (old folks) were quite rude and distrusting of foreigners but a lot can be achieved by effort. I made a huge effort to get to know some of them and they changed their tune.

Na pole is no guarantee of being from the whole of the South of Poland. For example, here in Silesia, which is in the South of Poland, they generally say 'na dwór' more here. Na pole is more of a Kraków term and from the villages as said above

Shocking indeed!! A guy put away for rape, now these 2 for murder, what in heaven's name next? A multiple shooting perhaps, oh, that was America in Ohio.
