History / Should Germany claim to be the victims in Poland? [510]

maintained a cruel blockade which did cost nearly one million of german civilians to die of hunger to force the Germans to subscribe to a highly disputed treaty which sowed the seeds for Adolf Hitler who just a few years later would start a new war which did cost Europe much more...

geez mate, that sounds suspiciously like passing the blame... are you sure youre not polish?

History / Should Germany claim to be the victims in Poland? [510]

of course england was the most important country - we were there at the start and we were there at the end... who else can say that without having to conceed to a bottom spanking in between...?

how the war would have gone in different circumstances is academic - it didnt happen and we can only speculate

what did happen, and is recorded in history for future generations to remember, is that germany was put firmly in its place, twice, in a fifty year period

UK, Ireland / I'm designing a Polish restaurant for British people - need information [44]

curry is fantastic food - i once blagged free curries in paris's best curry houses thanks to a bbc card - all for research purposes you understand ;-)

ive thought about openning a peirogi restaurant where they are served with different sauces from all over the world - a combination of culinary cultures... obviously curry would be on the menu...

Work / The qualifications for teachers in Poland? [101]

according to a post by another harry on another forum, teachers passing out drunk, whilst common place back in the 90s, are few and far between...

would you say there is any truth in this or do many ELF teachers still deserve their reputation...?

the great thing is, you dont even need to go home - just hang around for 12 months and start again!

Work / The qualifications for teachers in Poland? [101]

teaching is hard work, especially for someone new to it. lets not be under any illusion that teaching a 30 hr week is tiring and stressfull and every hour taught will require considerable preparation.

paying students have a right to expect their teachers to be awake and prepared

Life / Points on Polish driving licenses [8]

if you're convicted of a motoring offense in the uk the courts can fine you and endorse your driving license with penalty points - the number of points is reflected by the severity of the offense.

in the uk, if you build up 12 or more penalty points within a period of three years, you'll be liable to be disqualified under the 'totting-up' system. any endorsements you have must stay on your driving license for four or eleven years, again depending on the offense

i have been told that in poland the number of points you can accrue on your license is double the uk - 24 - and that these are cleared every 12 months

is there any truth in this?

there is reference to them on one of the site's pages

Example I preach to the public not to steal but obviously that's unrealistic. people steal that's natural. am I responsible because I preach not to steal when im not not being realistics.

if youre the head of a church whose followers revere then you really should take responsibility for what you say...just like if you are the general of an army you should take responsibility for your orders
