He has a point tho, I'm not anti-abortion as a stance but I c the arguments against it more. Try being responsible, sex education starts at 10 after all.

Exactly, child abuse cases are so delicate. The incidence is quite high in Scotland. I studied the Children's Reporter system in some detail and it was quite disturbing just how many kids were embroiled in domestic disputes and beatings. My friend is a social worker and he sees first hand just how heinous the punishment dished out is. The bruises and scars in more than one sense.

Well said Incubus, I agree with the last paragraph to the tee. A child is often a blessing, a wonderful thing. The most important thing is to make the right choice and stand by ur decision. Like euthanasia, u should constantly monitor ur decision making processes b4 making a final choice.

The baby hasn't always developed El Gato, it can be at the very early stages of any growth. I don't like the idea either but circumstances rather than absolute positions seem more realistic in this day and age.

That's a risk they have to take, like an expensive marriage ending in an expensive divorce. Sorry, u have to take risks in life and u can't go killing the embryo/foetus for the sake of a lack of dialogue. People can make agreements and be forced to honour them u know.

I'm not anti abortion either but I lean to this side. U gotta question why the Poles ban abortion. It's becoming a business and less of a moral issue

El Gato, how can u be so blind? Yeah, 2 wrongs don't make a right but if a woman is RAPED for God's sake, how can u lumber her with a baby she doesn't want? That's amongst the stupidest positions I've ever heard. I'm not a fan of abortion either, especially for these thick young sluts who go running for an abortion because they are irresponsible and immature and messed up. However, can u even begin to imagine the mental anguish of a rape victim? I've known 1 so I can comment. To force her to have a baby on top of that is a kick in the teeth.

Try and focus on those who abuse the system more than innocent victims, thx. Don't tar them with the same brush

Life / Dungeons & Dragons - big in Poland?/Who here plays it [45]

I played it for months here. A guy called Keiran McFarlane was the DM, from Melbourne. He has since taken off to Korea, now in China I believe. He was sth of a genius when it came to D&D. He taught me a lot about creative visualisation and role-play (RP). There is another guy called Bruce here who isn't as up to speed on modern D&D as Kel was but he played the old game for years and plans to set up a new campaign here. It was a good occasion to drink

Life / "No sex before 18" in Poland? [25]

Poles are greater catholics than the Pope himself, 40% being non-practising, hehehe. The Pope was in constant practice so don't take that line. What is a great catholic in ur mind anyway cucko?

UK, Ireland / Glasgow primary schools for the Polish community? [18]

It's more a question of integration. The Scots were allowed to go AND STAY in Poznan a long time ago. According to my grandad, who lives in Inverness but is from Glasgow, the Poles have always been welcome in Glasgow. He told me tales of language exchange and good times. Can't be baaad!! (Sorry, sheep syndrome)

Life / Cultural readjustment... returning to Poland from the West. [58]

Marry a Pole, you marry her family. Very true, acceptance is key here. There's always some kind of name day or party here and I'm always invited. I clam up when speaking Polish to her parents but am comfy speaking to my girl.

She's had counselling for that? At the risk of sounding insincere, she seems to have the Posh Spice syndrome

Life / Cultural readjustment... returning to Poland from the West. [58]

Well, many are returning or have returned so there is potential. If u don't mind me asking, what is it that ur wife is having so much difficulty with, the job front?

No, I don't work for any data collection agency so u r ok

Life / Cultural readjustment... returning to Poland from the West. [58]

Another brilliant idea for a thread, I hope it takes off Buddy.

Can I ask u, why do u feel it's so difficult to readjust? It's not like the difference between European and Asian cultures after all.

As ever, it's a question of mindset. I went to Asia with an open mind which made the adjustment process so much easier.

News / What are your 10 fave things about Poland? And 10 least favourite? [130]

A beer garden, it's the same in Polish Mali, ogródek piwny I think. No flowers and other ornamental objects, just beer usually and parasols.

Thanks for being honest about point 10. Many Poles say themselves that they are amongst the worst hypochondriacs.

Cabbage is put to better use in kapuśniak and łazanki, oh, and pierogi 2.

It'll be interesting 2 c who comments on the vanity aspect. Many Polish women are beautiful but it gets tiring hearing it frequently. So many countries have women equally as good. To be honest, I've seen a couple of Scottish women better looking than anything I've seen here, and that's saying sth.

Study / anyone with CELTA? [73]

Yeah, I've noticed that many highly qualified people are disgruntled whereas those at the 'lower' echelons are happy with their lot

Study / anyone with CELTA? [73]

I agree with that, it shows commitment as I've said b4. CELTA can be done by non-natives which is also a bit controversial in a sense. When I watched the French and Austrian teachers teach, I could hear many mistakes which could be problematic. What if they entered a school which required them to teach 'a' and 'the'?

Study / anyone with CELTA? [73]

It's all quite elitist when u get to that level, the kind of people u don't want to be around have it usually, no offence to present company. I've known great teachers without any certification and horrible ones with it. Letters are often just a short-lived ego boost. So much work for so little reward

UK, Ireland / Free housing for Poles in the UK? [29]

Yeah, u get stung these days for doing nowt wrong. I'm glad to say that I'm thrifty. After leading a rather lavish life, I decided to monitor more carefully. No chance of free housing here although 750zł a month all in is super

More common is paying 50 quid a week for a ramshackle property. In Aberdeen, some of the properties for 45 quid a week were ghastly but it was a roof over ur head.
