UK, Ireland / UK is Poles apart from home [39]

I wonder how the Poles react to potato waffles, I loved those as a kid. They have gofry although I can't comment on them as I've never tried 'em. Do u get Forfar bridies down south WB? They are probably just a Scottish thing

I c what u r saying Mister H, very reasonable as usual, but sometimes u have to accept what u r given and live within ur means. I'm sure they'd graciously and gratefully accept a mansion but let's be realistic here. The UK is the 4th richest country in the world, or so it is said (I doubt it), so we see things through a different lens. Maybe they were on a waiting list and got a lucky break.

They are priced out of properties in Warsaw. Brits don't realise how good they have it. Britain offers many 'studenty' foods like Tesco savers baked beans or Safeway savers spaghetti. The prices of food here are admittedly much cheaper but that's changing. In Britain, u can live pretty cheaply. Farmfoods provide decent stuff for cheap. Britain also has some good second hand shops. U can really pick up some bargains there.

Life / Poles' tolerance towards other Races [190]

I'm glad in a way that Poland has taken a stand against regimes in countries like Afghanistan and Iraq. Chemical Ali and Al Hassan, 2 brutal buggers, are now being brought to justice. I'm as tolerant as they come but radical Muslims really get up my nose. Any culture that disrespects women to that extent is worthy of huge contempt.

Food / what kind of sauce should I make for my gołąbki? [63]

Campbells Soup, yum. Baxters, a Scottish firm, is superb too. Isn't Campbells Scottish? I've been away too long. Still, Poland pips Scotland at the post for top class soups, and that's saying sth

Still, one of my favourite soup is Canadian (American?). Where does clam chowder hail from? It was legendary!! Wun Tun soup is also delicious.

Anybody know any soups beloved by Scots? Oxtail, Minestrone, Garden Vegetable etc

We made sth really simple today. Heated up bread rolls. They are amazingly good here. Put some sliced tomatoes and sliced egg on there and u have a simple and tasty meal

U were maybe asking how sth came to be in the past. I was making the point that u shouldn't ask too many questions to a Native Indian, how being one such question, just say 'How'. 'How' is a popular greeting. Now I see that it was a Native American, did u mean a Native Indian?

I agree masks98, variety is the spice of life and it's good to have diversity. More and more people go where the work is and if this means travelling abroad, then so be it.

Love / Do Polish women like to be surprised? [35]

Polish women love to be surprised. An offer to shower together is often a nice way of doing this. Flowers also do the trick. Chocolates, well, it depends.

An accidental slip into the wrong hole, well, the jury is out on that one ;) That can come as a nasty surprise.

UK, Ireland / The Independent about Poles in the UK: "Poles are under attack." [83]

I'm talking about some English folk now tornado. It all depends on what press u read. There will always be those who let ur good country down. I think more Poles on this forum need to try and conceptualise this mass migration more. I said it today to my Polish friend and I've said it often b4 that people really need to try and make the best effort they can to understand the position of others. This is more poignant when we are talking about death, divorce or war etc etc.

I always try to be as objective as possible on this forum.

But we have seen a lot of English intolerance. The Poles have merely introduced more competition into the job market and are willing to swallow their pride and do jobs not befitting of their education. I'm saying nothing new here but sometimes it needs to be restated. The booze/binge culture is costing England dearly

I tend to agree with this Greg. The Scots have certainly warmed more towards the Poles, much more so than our neighbours down south.

According to certain sources, many Poles don't claim benefits. The Scots are large benefit claimers

What's so strange about going somewhere where the wages can be ten times higher? Britain is a signatory to the EU Treaty, period!! Look at Van Binsbergen and other seminal cases in EU Law. The Poles are strong, they can fight back.
