Law / Collecting cans in Poland - how much per can? [14]

I'm waiting for the price of copper to go up.

I thought it was going up...mainly due to people stealing the stuff from the wiring of electric sub stations and railway lines....

News / Fire in hostel in north west Poland kills 21. [18]

Sad news.....was it a case of someone being careless with a ciggarette , or dodgy and overloaded Polish plugs in an old electrical system... ? Russia seems to suffer such tradgedies often , and mainly due to poor electrical safety....Whatever the cause its so sad that people who are already having a hard time have been killed and injured....

Love / Could "food" potentially come between us? [25]

If you really don,t like Polish food this can be a bit of a problem....Polish mums are renowned for their feeding up of guests with lots of food , and won,t take it very well if this is turned down....You have to be very carefull not to upset anyone in this situation , but of course nobody is going to want to make you eat anything that you really don,t like....My advice is to try out a few Polish foods to find some you like , and perhaps get your boyfriend to explain you are used to very different foods and are not used to Polish food....If the relationship is going to work its going to be important his mum likes you...A bit tricky , but i am sure you will survive it....

Love / SOS!! I feel a little hopeless with my Polish husband... [58]

Whatever it is i think its not doing her any good to be part of it....I think there is more to this than just the addiction of the internet , he has got something going on there that he does not want her part of , and i think its all going to end badly.... I hope she can resolve her problems , but in the end i think she is going to have to get out of the situation....On another thread she says she caught him signed up to a singles dating site , he said he just wanted to check out if he was attractive to women...yah right....

Life / Can you keep a right hand drive car in Poland? [57]

whats the laws regarding selling a uk RHD (sorn) vehicle in poland for scrap?

I suspect there won,t be much paperwork....just give em the car and collect your dosh....I could be wrong , but as long as the car is yours i can,t see a problem...no doubt somebody will tell us if i am wrong.....?

USA, Canada / I'm moving to Poland from Canada! How to send my stuff over? [8]

The cheapest way i guess is to find somebody that is going over with an empty van or big car , perhaps one of the Poles who has bought a van or car to sell for parts in Poland , perhaps you can share costs with them....I am a Brit who is living in Poland , at some point i will be over in UK to pick up a Jeep cherokee to bring back to Poland , but i don,t know if it will fit in with your plans...which area of the UK are you at , and which area of Polska are you going to...? I am living in the Ostrowice area of Polska , and i will be going to the Leeds and Scarborough area of the UK , mind you i could make a detour i guess.....OOOPS...just realised you are in Canada...kinda out of my way a bit....sorry...

Love / My Polish boyfriend and his drinking habit. [60]

I deserve better than him!!

Too dam right you do....there are lots of nice Polish guys around , and of course English guys too....Beer swilling apes do not make good partners , and the first time a guy lays a hand on you should be the last time....i wish you luck....

UK, Ireland / going to uk to look for a cad job - are there any left? [21]

In Canada, it happens all the time. Head hunting firms (placement agencies) will often drop a fictitious job on Workopolis

I think in UK it might not be legal to do that...but i am not sure on that...?

News / Polish politician thrown off Lufthansa plane. Just enjoy. [60]

Sounds to me like he got his ass thrown off the plane for being an asshole , not for being Polish....

If there's anyone interested - there's that on-line game, brand new, on Rokita, just like the ones you could hit Bush with a shoe. If you lucky enough to catch him you'll hear him cry "ratunku, bija mnie Niemcy"

UK, Ireland / going to uk to look for a cad job - are there any left? [21]

They shouldn,t do...if they are a good firm to work for then they will give the job to whoever is best for it , regardless of where they are from...and yes , if a job is advertised its available , no reason for anybody to advertise a job that does not exist....

Life / Car Window Tinting - is it legal in Poland? [20]

BAC level in Poland

Don,t know the exact figure , but no doubt somebody does...i do know its quite abit lower than the UK , and one bottle of Polish beer will get you locked up if you are caught driving after drinking it...My Police lady friend confirms what some body already said about tinting windows....front window must have 75% transparancy , the side windows 70% , so thats not much of a tint before you are breaking the law....My friend does say however that she would not pull a car unless it had really dark windows and looked dangerous....

Real Estate / Foreigners: Please don't buy Polish Land! [823]

a farmer

I am afraid my knowledge of farming is less than zero , the farm is simply my home , and will be in the future a base for tourist business , catering for 4 x 4 and biker groups touring Poland....

Real Estate / Foreigners: Please don't buy Polish Land! [823]

But most people on this forum i dont think are capitalists...they are either funny offensive tolerant racist etc etc...u have more to fear if some of them come to buy land and settle ola... :-)

Speaking for myself , i didn,t come here to buy a Polish farm and make lots of dosh out of it....I live and work here .taken nothing out of the economy of Poland , and put plenty of dosh into it , especially into the hands of the pirates at the Energa company...

Real Estate / Foreigners: Please don't buy Polish Land! [823]

Personally, I don’t feel any foreigners should be permitted to buy land in other countries.

exactly , scrap the European union thing , chuck out all the foreigners , confiscate all the property they bought in another country , don,t let them come into a country to work , or get health care , why not stop selling anything to other countries , let them buy their own stuff , stop world trade , if fact don,t even sell anything to people in the next town......I perhaps should mention that when i had a house in the UK , i had a bunch of Polish people living there with me whilst working in jobs in the UK....I don,t own my house in the UK any more though , i now own a small farm in Poland , and when i begin my tourist business some of those Poles returning to Poland may have a job with me....but , of course if the rules change they might confiscate my home in Poland...gonna have to kill me first tho...

News / Polish engineer beheaded in Pakistan. [347]

Is there any religion ,country or race that can condone an act like this.

Apparently yes , the people who carry out this kind of murder are doing it in the name of their religeon....The very fact they video such acts of savagery demonstrates that they not only condone this , but are proud of it.....

News / The most useless things in Poland [140]

I've travelled quite a fair bit, and have only ever seen them in Poland... heavy doors - usually in older style office buildings - with a leather padded / studded panel

They are very popular in Russia and the Ukraine.....
