Love / The most attractive thing for a girl to a man is the V? - Is it true? [27]

Only if it's not been washed for a while....

OK. A game. 20 questions. We know now that even boys have a "v". My turn:
Is it purple with yellow dots?

Only if it hasn't been used in a while....

Does it smell?

*spits out hot cocoa*

UK, Ireland / Poles in the UK sleeping in toilets [165]

Have they no shame

actually I think its smart.. they arent on the outside of the building, looking like bums
they are inside and although its annoying, I am sure if they had somewhere to go
they would..

homeless people generally are outside on benches, and they do try to get inside where
its warm and its very sad to see a homeless person dead on a park bench ..

History / Ancient Polish History thread [180]

INTERPRETATION OF THE ANCIENT CULTURES
by Sergei V. Rjabchikov

ok, intrepretations of Ancient history.. this I am having time understanding how
these came about.. was it written on /in old books? how do we really know
what is said is what is on these old scriptures..

im doubtful on certain things.. I feel like we are jumping back and forth in some
subjects.. like the theorys of revolution.. so how do we really know??

are these factual documents that actually show writings? a document from 966
wouldnt be in the greatest of shape.. especially after all the wars and fires..

but I do realize a great deal of importance goes into the studies of all history/historical
events and great deal into retrieving data to stablize and further conclude truth to
each event .

USA, Canada / Health care, USA is messed up what about your country? [33]

celinski wrote:
I know elderly that cut pills in half to save money

thats because their pensions suck.. not the health care.

I dont know what neck of the woods you all live in, but my health care system
cannot turn folks away regardless of lack of funds etc etc..

the bottom line is, the hospitals eat the cost.. if a patient comes in we treat them.

I was pretty sure that was a national thing.. I would rather be here then try to
barter with a doctor on if I need a kidney and or if I will pay him handsomely to save
my life or die.. that to me is sick.

USA, Canada / Americans who call themselves Polish - how do you feel about that? [112]

so far I don't see the Polish looking.

they do trust me, ive been contacted several times.. some in Polish and english
and its amazing.

It seems as if Poland could care less what happened to the ones that had to leave.

not entirely true.. dont get discouraged.. you run into characters in every forum.

This may take your confusion away. When I did have a phone # to call I was warned about being taken for a ride by Polish just wanting money.

yes some do. no different then our solicitors.. lol just have to be careful. good and
bad in every country ..

I came to this site hoping to find my Polish family looking for us and yet so far I don't see the Polish looking.

maybe they dont know your looking.. it takes time..

Don’t expect the
reunion to be rosy. (You might be disappointed)

only because they dont know you, as with anyone who is stranger. ive been
invited alot to Poland and none of the ones I know were discouraging. and not
all of them are family and i also offered to pay for some help with genealogy
and some were offended by this, I told them its because its a offering for their
time.. and they still didnt expect it.. one cousin offered to come here and pick me
up and hold my hand on the plane and protect me all the way there.. tell me that
isnt being a gentleman..

Its’ the expectation that brings the disappointment, but the fact that we accomplished something gives us Pride.

well I wouldnt say expect the worst.. ive had not one bad experience with anyone.
Im not saying they do not happen.. but dont label them before knowing them..
everyone is different personality.. some might not be people persons..
if you ask me, I think its more frustration then anything, language barriers pose a
problem with everyone..

USA, Canada / American-Polish families keep talking about Poland... [6]

You mean why some "new" Polish immigrants resent other Polish immigrants who immigrated a long time ago?

no not necessarily <~ spelling?

like the above post,, when I said one cousin wrote and asked why they were left
behind.. this was after the war.. I am sure that had something to do with it..
probably because of the hardships faced at that time.. I dont think anyone realized
how much focus was on the war and how much some of these American Polish
families did ... it wasnt like they came to America and forgot.. but I think thats the
Impression and why maybe some feel that way about the American Polish now.

course that my thoughts.. I can be way off.

just delete this thread admin, the title and thread all of it.. please..

USA, Canada / American-Polish families keep talking about Poland... [6]

I noticed that too (I myself like to talk about my family members or friends in Poland).

well, I guess what I am lookin for is why some resent those who came to America
long time ago.. maybe I should have made that my title. oh well to late

but I have heard from some others ( families here) that say same thing.. and I know
Polish are very close group of people, so in a sense I can understand this to be
upsetting ..

USA, Canada / American-Polish families keep talking about Poland... [6]

American Polish families talk about their families in Poland all the time.. talk about
traditions, culture, respect .. what they learned of it

some I am sure do not however..some family from poland who stayed there.

a great example was one cousin who said
we Left them behind.. but it was their choice to not come.

do others feel the same? especially since the war?

USA, Canada / Americans who call themselves Polish - how do you feel about that? [112]

other wise you're just an American with a Polish background.

I am Polish with American citizenship... America is loaded with all cultures

just as those who are british with Polish citizenship.. and those who are
born to british parents who decided to live in Poland ,, their children are only POLISH
by citizenship.. not by blood.. or Irish and living in POland or muslim and living in Poland
and Serbian living in poland.

News / Polish-German Relations in the Present [697]

We lost our country and family members.

wars have been happening since the world began,, we lost family since the world
began, not to the extent and yes that time was supposed to be more civilized
but again, my above post says how I feel.. still stands. that also changed from how
I started to feel in the beginning.

Poland will have to move on. because People visit places that are more fun, and
exciting.. beaches, sand. etc.. their top tourist attraction shouldnt be a death camp
rather it should be positive.. get poland on her feet.

News / Polish-German Relations in the Present [697]

then people need to stop interferring and proecting their bitter memories and resentments, things have changed and people are trying to move on to a bright, prosperous future

Im not saying anything bad, rather explaining maybe this is why some do.. and its
really hard to get in touch with your ethnic background with so many obstacles in
the way.. no one wants anything bad to happen, I think they just want to understand
more. and there is alot of focus on the past in poland alone.. especially travel.

for instance,, the infamous Aushwitz. etc.. all the death camps that are a huge tourists
attraction.. its like, come see how we suffered, then enjoy some food and drink and
dance. this is advertised.. people I know that went to poland said I went to the death
camps.. I asked them why??

because that was part of the tour we went on as a group. POLAND has to stop
this.. all people know is what happened about the war.. not before it.. or rather
the larger focus is on that..

I didnt want to be stuck in 1939...

to me.. Poland means so much more.. its my familys homeland. a place where beauty
and culture were strong.. thats what the focus should be about.. not the camps.

if I ever visit.. or get to. I will never step foot into them.. its only giving into keeping
alive the horrible things that Hitler did.. and I wont give him that.. he died of his own
hand.. because he knew he would face something much bigger then he and he was
a coward who hid behind his people and filled their heads with lies and deciet.. thats
my most indepth feelings on it.

News / Polish-German Relations in the Present [697]

i thought carol was an american women desperately clinging on to a polish past

well, I dont think thats the case here bubba, rather, shes connecting with it and
unfortunately as we all learn and have learned that our history has a very hard
past and of course anger plays into the picture alot of times,, I know where shes
coming from because I have been there, but of course coming on PF has taught
me many things. one to open up and see a little more.. and I am still learning ..

sometimes we see horrible things and those pictures play a big part of what our
minds can only focus in on.. instead of seeing that the younger generations are trying
to move on and forward into a new poland , its hard,, its hard to not look at the past
and not feel the feelings of anger .. and the problem is, we dont see enough of the
current Poland ( those of us who never been) and so its still a learning process..

:) we all have to just hang in there..

History / Should Germany claim to be the victims in Poland? [510]

Put yourself into the shoes of an ordinary family father which get's now the prospect of a for him better life.
I doubt you would think in the first place of leaving....

Probably not,, but they now suffer the consequences of a nation gone.

that would be a hard choice.. especially if children are already in the picture and
a family life.. of course with each great leader ( so we think) comes lies, deciet,
and of course payment for his actions.. same as how bush is doing us now. only
hes giving money away .. im not proud of him.. but I am of America,, and what we
stand for.. so I guess me and you are kinda the same there brat.. right :)

the leaders screw the nation and the people have to pay for it..
least those who are good. :)

History / Should Germany claim to be the victims in Poland? [510]

Living in those times when you had to decide what would you choose?

to get the heck out of dodge,, if it meant my familys life threatened,, and there was
a way to leave .

I think people (those) who choose to turn their cheek and not see probably
realized how crazy he was.. he tried to isolate Germany from the world While
trying to take over Europe and he knocked on US doors, but we came knockin
back... I know this isnt something you dont know.. but my perception of it makes
me wonder the above Post about why they wish for the Reich when the results are
clear,, no criminals because they were gassed along with the other millions of good
people.. Jews /Poles/French/ etc.. mostly jews..

History / Should Germany claim to be the victims in Poland? [510]

Sure with hindsight you could say Hitler wanted a build up for the next war

thats what I wanted to hear.. :)

hitler might have did good for germany, then.. but now this generation still has
to defend those good.. was it worth it?? thats the question germany should be
asking those who knew.. was it?

History / Should Germany claim to be the victims in Poland? [510]

Pride, less criminals, all had work, order, families were valued...actually quite upstanding, conservative things.
Many Germans yearn for that in our not-so-conservative world....

well this is todays society,, its from all the younger generations, it happened around
the globe,, the not so conservative mindset.
