News / SHOULD POLAND/EUROPE BE WORRIED ABOUT RUSSIA?? [90]

Isn't it a tragic irony that, according to modern day maps, that Stalin was Georgian. He was born in Gori. I agree with Alchonok, this conflict hasn't been evaluated fairly. It was the ideal chance to have a hack at Russia and make out that they were wholly wrong. No surprises that the missile shield deal was pushed through, fearing no reprisals.

I haven't heard condemnation from Western governments over what Georgian troops did to innonent Ossetians. When we start acting rationally, rather than emotionally and opportunistically, we can move forward.

News / POLAND TO SIGN US MISSILE SHIELD DEAL TONIGHT [239]

It's not a principle-based approach, it's tit-for-tat, we'll show u politics.

How come there wasn't a need for such apparatus during the Cold War? After all, it has been dubbed as WWIII by some commentators. Poland was under communism and resented being so. It may have faced attack.

The talks were previously phased. Now they have been fast-tracked, brought to their conclusion in one fell swoop.

Shame the long installation process can't be expedited, LOL

What's with the signing? Eh, ever heard of defiance????

Tensions are already high and it takes 3 or 4 years to install this apparatus. Use ur brain laddie.

Language / Polish v Russian - similarity [17]

I hear similarities but it really depends how deep u want to go. Some words are completely different but the Slavic commonality is there to be heard.

News / What if Russia decide to liberate Scottland from England? Polish position [152]

If Russia was under any misapprehension that their super MIG's and other fighter jets would have an easy day out, they can forget it. The British RAF is amongst the best in the world and we have some of the best pilots.

They'd have their work cut out to get in amongst us. We are a nuclear power too.

Anyway, such talk is pointless.

News / SHOULD POLAND/EUROPE BE WORRIED ABOUT RUSSIA?? [90]

Russia is still locked in dialogue with NATO, hence, many EU states. It summoned an emergency meeting with NATO so it hasn't severed ties. It has just got the attention of the international community. There is a theory that any military needs to be activated if redundant for 5 years. Russia is just providing a show of force. It's bark is worse than it's bite. It is not so unscrupulous as to wipe out large areas. It is not such a closed state like North Korea.

News / What if Russia decide to liberate Scottland from England? Polish position [152]

How exactly would Russia 'liberate' Scotland from England? We already have our own Parliament and the border will always be there. How would it tangibly manifest itself is what I'm asking. Many people already feel 'liberated' to a certain extent. I think u r talking about fully divesting itself of any English influence. Then, what would the Polish position be?

Hmm...well, the Wizzair and Easyjet flights would still continue :)

News / SHOULD POLAND/EUROPE BE WORRIED ABOUT RUSSIA?? [90]

My source, rychlik, is Polish news. Nothing that u can't get access to. They said that they were unhappy with the insipid stance of the Polish government. Remember, the Russians didn't support independence for Kosovo, Poland generally did. These issues are divisive for Slavs. Kaczyński did little to reduce the tension.

My GF clarified what I thought I heard. There were no direct threats but suggestions that the conflict could escalate. Russia is all about noises and posturing

News / SHOULD POLAND/EUROPE BE WORRIED ABOUT RUSSIA?? [90]

There were noises made that Russia may take a hostile stance against Poland for lack of support for their cause. Much like the US did against France. However, Russia must understand that the Poles will resist. I fear that Tusk is a bit of a pacifist. He must talk tough like Gordon Brown is doing.

How can we mediate a conflict which is intractable? Neither side will budge. There are too many 2-faced ********. Bush had a recent dinner with the Chinese premier in which he discussed the issue with Putin in friendly terms. Then he brought Georgian troops back to Georgia to fight Russia. All smiles at the table but they need to reveal their true colours. They are advancing different agendas.

The only cause for concern will be if we are not united in our purpose.

Not always with y. For example, jedno piwo, dwa piwa, sześć piw. Where's the y there?

The resident experts will give u more accurate advice.

Love / Confused, a Polish girl disappeared after I talked and danced to her [44]

Before I had my GF, this was the way. I stopped bothering with them, they are self important little gits not worth worrying about (in clubs). Go to classy student hangouts and u'll get in with a different shower. That may restore ur faith in Polish women but beware, the Princess Syndrome is ubiquitous/prevalent.

News / Poles honour 'Cold Warrior' Ronald Reagan [92]

It just depends on ur position lesser. I, for one, know that the conditions for coal miners were far from ideal in the UK. It's a question of values. Miners were paid a small fortune here in Silesia but peanuts in the UK. Farmers are vice-versa.

If u knew the prevailing conditions that UK miners worked under, u may have contributed too. What's so bad about striking? It's closely tied in with demoncracy, exercising ur right to freedom of expression.

Reagan, like Thatcher, had a very good poor concept of social justice. Strikers seek to redress the balance.

News / Poles honour 'Cold Warrior' Ronald Reagan [92]

In certain ways, at certain times, u could say they had good chemistry given the political set-up being as it was.

Diplomacy and dialogue was maintained, that much it true. Gorbachev was a thoroughly reasonable man who kept the sharks within his own administration at bay. Perestroika was a landmark concept which he laboured hard at to bring to fruition.

That's because he had to be the dictator. If Merkel suddenly flipped and held others to ransom like a dictator, do u not think Bush would have sth 2 say about it?

If World War III is great chemistry BB, I'd hate to see bad chem.

Well written masks. Supporting apartheid is unforgivable. When I hear about attacks on white farmers now, which are sporadic only, I am happy as they are getting a taste of their own medicine. Reagan should have paid a visit to SOWETO all those years ago. God Bless Mandela!!

Reagan took great pride in perpetuating the Cold War which, incidentally, is being erroneously coined as World War III, what BS!! I would never want to see a nuclear attack being carried out against the US but at times I wished that the Russians were more forthright and hard-hitting.

His magnum opus was the Iran-Iraq War. He swayed with the breeze on this one. Read up on John Tower, this guy persuaded Reagan to take certain courses of action as Reagan was just too clueless. It just so happens that this guy had brokered a deal with Robert Maxwell and the MOSSAD.

History / Russian achievements versus "Polish" zilch. [57]

Steam engine my ass, that was invented by a Scot.

I'd gladly pit our revered inventions against theirs for public utility anyday.

Ask £ukasz to comment, he'll furnish u with loads of Polish achievements.
