News / lets say nice things about poland [32]

Borowiki, sorry. Borówki are red berries I think.

I don't know what this mushroom is called in English.

Pieczarki are very good indeed but, sorry, they are no better than Scottish ones and others I surmise.

Borówki are super tasty

News / What if Russia decide to liberate Scottland from England? Polish position [152]

I agree, Britain is a major nuclear power. OK, we may be facing recession but if we pull our resources together then we can avert this.

We are not afraid to stand up to Russia because we have an abundance of oil. We are not subservient puppets like Germany. We have the technologies of tomorrow, today.

The Union helps on different levels.

Travel / Wot? No beer allowed on Polish PKP? [30]

I don't think beer is illegal on trains tho I may be wrong. I'm with dtaylor tho, it's a public place and dealing with moronic louts ain't my idea of fun. I remember having to sit beside young twats who were at a gig in Stirling. They were wasted and obnoxious.

The problem is, people go on long journeys and beer is some kind of solace for them. In Japan, it's acceptable as they respect others space better than we do. It's their reward after a long day's slog at the office. Bento and Kirin Ichiban, nice

News / POLAND TO SIGN US MISSILE SHIELD DEAL TONIGHT [239]

Yet Russian protests appear to have reinforced the Polish media's support for the agreement. "We have made another important step to increase Poland's security," the daily Rzeczpospolita said in an editorial. "And it is the Russians who convince us how important it is. As our sad experience teaches us, the louder they protest against something we want to do, the more certain it is that it lies in our best interest."

This is from the Time article I posted BB. Matyjasz put the question 2 u.

This is typical of the Polish psyche BB. I'm glad that they don't appease too much.

We'll nuke Poland" is how the Sun reports Russia's threat of a nuclear strike, because Poland is to host parts of US missile defence shields.

In the ratcheting-up of the rhetoric, both the Sun and the Daily Mail perceive a "new Cold War". From the 16th of August 2008, BBC

time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1833678,00.html this article will also give u the key details. There is more if u need it BB

Oh, Russia has threatened Poland, many times actually. However, NATO's top brass have reiterated that there will not be a return to Cold War ways.

Poland is banking on Russia not following through on what may be perceived as idle threats. America threatening to strike Russia is an effective deterrent for sure but that won't change the fact that, should Russia strike, heavy damage will be sustained.

Love / Polish women are known for their beauty, but men are so ugly (most of).. [250]

I think masks is cleverly differentiating outer beauty from inner beauty, judging by his previous postings. I think he'd admit to having seen some stunners here but, like me, he may have some 'reservations' about their true inner beauty. I know what he was getting at.

With America and Russia both pushing for control, this song sprung to mind.

Listen from 1.43 to 2.00, contained within is the root of the problem. Educating future generations with nonsense

News / Third World War and the role of Poland [82]

When is San Marino joining in with the butcher, the baker, and candlestick maker? I wanna see that. Well, at least they had such people when they played Scotland in the football.

I made this point in my lesson this morning, we cannot be governed by old wounds. What should we be advocating, that Merkel embrace Tusk like Kohl did Mitterand? Hardly.

What I object to here is Russia bullying Poland. Can I remind them that the US is pulling the strings here. Russia picking the easy target again. We all know what happened when they went for the bigger fish that is Afghanistan. Bit off a bit more than it could chew.

Also, Poland has agreed to allow inspections, a process that seems to hold little weight in the international community. Scott Ritter spent 7 years in Iraq and when I mention his name, people look at me and ask me who he is. All they know is Hans Blix, who was in for a short time. Inspections, if thorough, should give Russia the assurances that they need.

It really looks like this is just one more pawn in the political game. The practicalities are being ignored. America is no4 in the world but Russia is no1 at chess. Oh, I should finish by saying that Ukraine is no2.

Life / "K*rwa"-why do young Poles find this word so cool ? [67]

It is irritating. That video that is posted often about the Polish guy who is calling about his computer and keeps saying it grows thin. Overuse of anything can be irritating tho.

There's a good clip of a Polish rally driver taking a corner and suddenly encountering a truck. He yells out 'co to k**** jest'? That's funny!! It is a powerful word and helps give a sense of identity and group mentality to youngsters. At football games, it's said everywhere.

It may also be a sign of rebellion. Many substitutes like 'kużwa' popped up to make their outbursts more acceptable but there will always be a hardcore of 'k****' utterers. Take it or leave it.
