Life / Is alcohol abuse an issue in Poland? [8]

Please keep serious.

One thing we don’t hear much about in the forum is alcohol problems. Is alcohol abuse an issue in Poland like the USA? We have a high rate of youth drinking here in the USA and motor vehicle accidents due to drinking and driving. Are the numbers in Poland high also?

History / Polish soldier stories [50]

Majority of their Polish neighbors were killed or deported by Soviets.

My Grandfather escaped Soviets killing in "Katyn" made it home and was deported to Siberia. When amnesty was granted he helped organize Polish Army on USSR soil, met up with other troops, Anders Army 2nd Corps under British Command.

News / So why is there so much animosity against Poles? [65]

I don't think there is so much animosity hereon PF. Notice that all the hatered comes from the same few,

This is the title of the story in reguards to Polish serving in British military. To tell the truth I ran the story more because I loved the praise for Polish Military;

I think the Generals and the Admirals should pause for a minute and remember the past. We live in a country that went to war 69 years ago to defend Polish freedom and that act was reciprocated by thousands of Poles laying down their lives: 195,000 Poles fought Hitler alongside us Brits, and in all three of the armed services. Arguably, the Battle of Britain would not have been won without the bravery of the 145 Polish pilots defending the skies over Britain. One all-Polish outfit, 303 Squadron, claimed the highest number of kills (126) of all fighter squadrons engaged in the Battle of Britain, even though it only joined the combat weeks into the battle. Just 5% of Polish pilots were responsible for a phenomenal 12% of all the total victories in the Battle.

Polish destroyers and frigates took part in the Battle of the Atlantic and escorted the hazardous Russian Convoys while Polish troops were among the first to set foot on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day.

So, if we were so ready to accept their help in wartime why not now? Our army is short of 5,000 soldiers. We already have 3,000 Nepalese Gurkhas, 2,000 Fijians, and several hundred South Africans, Ghanaians and Zimbabweans. So why not take the Poles? There is a precedent, after all. We already have the Irish Guards, and although getting the exact figures seems to be next to impossible, it is admitted that, under the euphemism of a ?special dispensation?, there are plenty of citizens of the Irish Republic serving in the Army, Navy and RAF.

History / Poles executed in Warsaw '1939-44' [112]

what i find so funny is that you just want to talk about death and destruction

Nothing funny about it really. If you study the history, as in "Polish Politics & History" Poland was about death and destruction. I suggest you go to another area on the forum as Poland is not going to lie and say Nazi's brought us flower as Soviets came with wine.

History / Poles executed in Warsaw '1939-44' [112]

this continual moaning about who did what and when they did it.

Asking a question does not mean we are moaning. Yes it sucks to find loved one like this but since we search and want to know it is more help than you will ever know.

I think many that "moan, *****, rant or rave" are looking for the truth in history. We have that right. Our families served, loved and died for Poland. Being silenced gave others the full access to tell our history. Now that we are free we can set the record straight. I bet when this is done we can sit back and have a drink and know our job is done.

History / Poles executed in Warsaw '1939-44' [112]

are of course free to moan all they want about anything they want

This was not always the case "Communist Poland" the Polish were not to speak of Soviet crimes. So as for Polish moaning, they could not even speak truth about the death of loved ones. Where anyone gets off saying Polish moan is full of it.

There just comes a time when people need to learn to move on, remember yes, to continually debate and moan and look to blame, no.

You sure don't know when to "shut Up". I can tell you never had a family member vanish from the face of the earth. I guess what your saying is looking for information on our loved ones is moaning, guess what, we didn't get a chance to give them a proper burial and a grave site to pay respect and put flowers. Maybe just maybe we can stop looking for them. May they Rest in peace.

I would like to say thank you for taking your time "Ozi Dan" and looking up my family.

News / So why is there so much animosity against Poles? [65]

Excellent question and appreciation for the role of Poland's military.

So why is there so much animosity against Poles?

It has no logic and no cause. And, sadly it is a prejudice that is being aided and abetted by the attitude of our military top brass, who are adamantly refusing to allow Poles ready and willing to enlist in the ranks, to do so.

History / Significance of May 3rd in Poland [21]

Freedom is not so much a privilege to enjoy, as it is a reward for those who will honor and defend. It is a symbol of the Polish people and of their struggle for liberty, justice, and honor.

History / An Example of Falsifying Historical Facts and Degrading Poland [46]

Russians and Poles who worked together in the same camps.

Say what, I hate to tell you this but the guards were Soviets. They were raping, killing, starving the Polish to death. I will say, "Stalin" did kill his own. But please the ones with the guns were the Soviet's in "Siberia". If you look into it also look up "katyn", yes it was "Stalin's" orders.

And that's about making the history clear

Great point. When the Nation can see the full story vs "Holocaust" story. Poland was attacked on three side from "Hitler" and "Stalin" on the east. This started in 1939, not 1941 when "Holocaust" starts. Polish lost their country to "Communisn". "Jewish" say their home is "Israel". If this makes me anti-semitic, oh well, what the new word for the ones fighting the "Forgotten Polish" anti-Polishmitic.

Why the double standards?

What bother me the most was the responses below the artical. I could't believe the anti-Polish sentiment, some out right blaming Poland for Jewish deaths.

History / Poland-Russia: never-ending story? [1341]

Do you think polish government intentionally justifies UPA's crimes shifting all the blame to Russia for political reason(s)?

Poland has also met with Ukraine and asked for them to say they are sorry. We are still waiting.

History / An Example of Falsifying Historical Facts and Degrading Poland [46]

You would think if there is so many questions and different stories, it would be something that you would want to be talked about openly. Why should this or any other history be off topic?

This is not historical debate, it is not a quest for knowledge. We shouldn't even consider talking about it.

"I think it was completely the right thing to do and and I think it is completely right that communist mass murders are included. But in the long term it is of course the task of schools to teach history. In the future it should not be the job of a particular forum. The agency came about as a result of failures in educational policy," said Björklund.

false propaganda.

In the USA I was told by one of the main musuems that "Stalin" and "Catholic" victims did not belong in the "Holocaust". A billion dollar per year vitimization, in the USA. Victims had to be "Jewish" and crimes by "Nazi's".

Now that the property claims are being accepted for crimes by "Stalin" we see this added in the "Holocaust" history. That would mean all this money in "Swiss" bank accounts should include all victims. Funny how some can pick an choose.

Where would I find the total in "Holocaust" restitution to date?

History / An Example of Falsifying Historical Facts and Degrading Poland [46]

Polish Catholics lost in the East after the war, and then ask themselves, "Are we the only one's that lost assets during WWII?"

1.7 million in "Kresy" could be higher but Russia will not releace files.

What no one wants to look at is the tears of silence when victims of Stalin could not speak out. Remember "katyn" is only part of the story.

Read: 'The bloodshed had to be shown'

At 80, Andrzej Wajda has made the bravest film of his career: a graphic account of the killing of 8,000 Polish officers. He tells Geoffrey Macnab why the story meant so much to him

"This film is not against the Russian people. It is about the horrors of the Stalin regime. In this forest in Katyn, there were many thousands of Russian civilians and soldiers killed brutally and put into mass graves. It was a graveyard for both the Poles and the Russians."

my view on that is like let bygones be bygones. We actully even have a law which allow you to get compensation for bygone crimes (I'm not sure if it works though).

EU has requested "Russia" pay for compensation. Why should Poland have to pay for Stalin's crimes to the Polish families "Stalin" attacked and killed, removed from estates and sent to Siberia to slave until death. The only reason some got out was "Soviets" were attacked by "Nazi's" otherwise they were to be slaved to death. What about the families of "Katyn" victim's of "Stalin", and yes even "Russian" family members, that is any that had next of kin live to tell.

No, "Soviets" were not our allies, they used Polish when they needed help. All the while waiting to take over Poland. As they did in the end.

Life / Cultural readjustment... returning to Poland from the West. [58]

which was started by Hitler and his Germans and later Russians joined them as well in their efforts to make Poland disappear.

In the east "Stalin" was doing what "Hitler" was doing right from the start. The plan was to take out Poles and split the country. Look who ended up with Poland, not Germany.

History / Poland-Russia: never-ending story? [1341]

Pland-Russia is a never ending story

Well lets see Germany has paid for what they did in WW2, No if Russia takes responsability, accountability, compensation to the victims a trusting relationship can start, built on respect this time. Until this happens guess we'll be typing.
