News / Russia opens archives and Poland demands minority rights from Germany [60]

So Poland should suppress German minority rights in Poland or Germany should make Hitlers decisions not valid and make Polish minority equal to Sorb or Danish miniority.

Just expell them...

I know you would like to see Poles and Germans having a go at each other again...
But that won't happen...look elsewhere for trouble!

History / RUSSIAN TV ACCUSES POLAND OF BEING HITLER ALLY [30]

Well...and the West thought a strong Nazi-Germany would slug it out with the red hordes in the East, therefore save them from Stalins ambitions...they too wished for a mud fest were both kill each other.

News / Russia opens archives and Poland demands minority rights from Germany [60]

This paper (and others) needs an english section (like Der Spiegel).
Would help neighbours to understand what's going on in these lands...

But apparently not, and it's good that it's being done.

1.) There IS a minority agreement already: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polen_in_Deutschland

Which is respected.

2.) The border-issue was already done during the negotiations about the german re-unification: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oder-Nei%C3%9Fe-Grenze

...

Which is respected also...

I wonder why this paper wants to stir up useless trouble again?

News / Words of thanks towards the 'Federation of Expellees' by Angela Merkel [40]

Yeah...and the Telegraph get's it always right, right?
An idiot tabloid for Idiots!

And yes, ethnical cleansing IS condemned between civilized peoples now...as it should be.

Oh and last time I checked there are no borders anymore.
Time to forget about the old expellees and greet the new settlers!

Russians build guags for their own people ... as the North Korea ... and many other countries

Well...you wouldn't accuse the inmates to prefer their gulags to the freedom, wouldn't you..
No wait...you probably would...the idiot that you are!

You are still an idiot Lukasz.

Why do you think there was a need for the commie bosses to build a wall in the first time?
Why do you think they needed armed guards with shooting orders ON THE INSIDE!

And I'm not sure which international agreements you speak about?

It was West Germany which didn't accepted the borders after the war and left the questions always open.
But it was negotiated during the re-unification. The acknowledgment of the Oder-Neisse-border (and any other current border) was actually a prerequisite for the re-unification.

we should start new debate about compensations which Germans should pay for Poland.

Absolutely mad and obsessed!

...go play with Crowie...you can share the same play ground...

History / Battle of Grunwald 2009 [24]

You just had to say this, didn't you?

The outcome was the same.

A rigged battle...NOT FAIR! Did the Teutonics at least look cool?

<more annoyed mutterings while throwing away German mayonnaise from the fridge>

Hey.....not the mayo....*runs after mayo*

But you must really stop seeing Prussia as only black in a black/white picture.
(But maybe for Poles it is so)
But for many Germans it just isn't...surely the unification and building up a strong Germany was not a great thing for Poland but for most Germans it was...it's all a matter of perspective.

Be the hammer or the anvil, you know?
Your "cute little german lands" had been for centuries the battlefield and the slaughterhouse of stronger, agressive, bigger nations (and between themselves).
Prussia's rise put a stop to it!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaawn

As if anything what YOU think costs a German one minute of sleep...
As if Poles get to decide what an expellee is and who is not...
That is so not your concern!

*takes helmet and leaves Poles to bicker between themselves*

Hey Luki, did they let you out of the Asylum again?

History / Drang nach Osten. [79]

I think personally that German Countries were a more cheerful place to live in, up until the Prussians united Germany and currently occupy them.

Do you mean before the thirty years war ravaged our lands or afterwards....

Prussia stopped other armies marching over our lands and destroying our peoples (they did the marching later themselves).

Oh well..another polish Prussia-basher.
It must be inbred in you!

A Prussia-fan boy

Let them come back - what's stopping them?

That's the point...they can't be arsed.
Alone the possibility to go visit their old haunts on holidays was enough for the old ones. Now it's the second/third generation who have a good life in Germany...

And since there are no borders anymore it deceased to be a festering wound alltogether.
That is a non-issue actually!

But that doesn't mean that this part of the history should be some kind of "forbidden" and I can't stand it that every f'ucking time someone mentions "expellees" a Pole get's frothing at the mouth, accusing whole Germany of this and that.

...that starts to grate on my nerves.
The expellees aren't going to vanish and this history neither. Get used to it or better just ignore us.

Hey Torqi, where have you been???

ROFL

Would you rather have them in Poland???
We propably would had seen another war by now...

Get used to it, this part of the history is going to stay, no taboo anymore.
No need to throw a tantrum every time the expellees are mentioned...it's a sore point in german history, leave the Germans alone with how, if and when they want to talk about it.

Germans are not stopping Poles during their mourn fests for their victims either ...

Both doesn't and shouldn't have any impact on todays relationships.

Life / IS POLISH PATRIOTISM OBSOLETE? [34]

The one in my profile
Saltire banned

From your link:

The National Library of Scotland told a staff member to remove Saltires from his desk as they may intimidate non-Scottish workers, an MSP has learned.

It would be a funny joke if it wouldn't be so pathetically real today...

Life / IS POLISH PATRIOTISM OBSOLETE? [34]

The dark side of nationalism is national chauvinism, which says 'we are better, they are worse'.

Well...isn't that a contradiction with:

I told the family that 'in Poland we make the best bread in the world'

That implies just that, Poles makes the best bread, better as everybody else, who are worse.
And it isn't even true as for that you would have to test every other bread in the world...

See? Not so easy...

In some ears (your compatriots) you will sound proud and patriotic, in other ears (not Poles) it will always sound chauvinistic....and that goes for all countries and peoples.

Praising the achievements (if true or not) of your own country will always sound nationalistic and chauvinistic to foreign people...
So...many people tend to mix it up!

It's some kind of a law..

Life / IS POLISH PATRIOTISM OBSOLETE? [34]

Lets not make the same mistakes

Agreed

The Problem in Europe was always the nationalismus between neighbours...now if we could develop a patriotismus as Europeans, that would be a good thing I think.

Germany for example has so many regions which people identify with strongly but still feel patriotic as Germans too.

Now when a Pole, an English, a Spanish, a German etc. could be a proud European and accept the other as valuable treasures of regional diversity nonetheless I think we could avoid the old mistakes!

Then european patriotism could become a blessing.
It would urge people to take better care of our Europe...
