Life / What to wear for winter in Poland [51]

Especially in coastal areas where I lived. You get the wind chill coming in from a frozen sea area.

Life / What to wear for winter in Poland [51]

Winters in Poland CAN BE harsher than in the British Isles but not necessarily. With the exception of 2005, I have experienced many colder winters back home.

Rozumieć, lol. Yes, I see (I understand, lol)

Mieć wizytę, to see a doctor

Work / Little Help finding out right to leave 1 yr contract. [15]

Sometimes it is stipulated in a contract that you can't leave. Well, you can, but you'd face a hefty fine. Trust me, I signed this provision.

I think I know the Callan school in Rybnik. I live quite near you and have fairly extensive experience of contracts, I hope I can help you.

Eh, good native speakers really bring a new dimension to teaching. Sometimes Polish teachers can't quite express sth as clearly or make careless mistakes.

News / Helena Wolinska dead [90]

I agree Filios1, good commentary. Time after time, things happen LONG after they should.

Another dubiously compiled quote. Alleged to have organised seems more correct

Food / Most important meal of the day (Polish breakfast recipes) [13]

Marmite, yummy. Bovril is good too. Vegemite is also addictive.

A flippin shedload? Kurwa dużo chyba

You are the expert, hun. I can come near you in some ways, especially when it's non-grammatical. However, I trust your judgement more than mine.

Food / Most important meal of the day (Polish breakfast recipes) [13]

Sushi, now there's a plan. I sometimes have it for breakfast thanks to my talented young fiancee. With various fillings. Not like I had in Japan in terms of variety but comparable taste-wise. It's so expensive in Europe.

Go with the flow pgtx, that's the way. I like soups for breakfast when the mood takes it. Barszcz, yummy

Food / Most important meal of the day (Polish breakfast recipes) [13]

Why not? Flaki would make a reasonable breakfast. I love the soft texture of the meat and the fiery broth which it lies in. Flaki is underrated. Maybe it's cuz I like haggis too. Haggis is very tasty.

Breakfast tomorrow? Hmm, hard-boiled eggs and tomatoes on Polish bread, with cheese slices. Polish bread would be so much better if it actually lasted more than a day. It's so tasty fresh.

Work / Teaching English without a degree and any experience in Poland. [14]

My schools were very clear in asking me to furnish my degrees, together with my CELTA. However, my first school here saw both as merely a bonus. Wow, makes me really feel that I invested my time for a worthy cause.

You just have to prove your worthiness and reliability to a school. Be proactive, get in their faces.

Sorry, I'm too lazy to research it. Was she Polish or Russian?

News / Helena Wolinska dead [90]

Good riddance then!! I'm not one of those people who believe that we shouldn't speak ill of the dead, although I tend not to do it as a matter of course.

Love / Who makes a good Polish wife? [75]

How come you never pursue a Polish lassie, Osioł? There are some real crackers out there. I'm not shallow, I don't mean facially, I mean as companions and able-bodied individuals.

Work / Teaching English in Poland, no degree just certificate [41]

There are quite a few here without a degree but some insist on it. You just have to know where to look.

A degree education helps but you can get by without it if you are cluey and keep yourself 'in the know'. For me, personally, some of the ideas which I studied have come in handy but they shouldn't be seen as a prerequisite to teaching. It helped my thinking more than anything else.

Like any job, you have to show yourself to be the best candidate, the top dog.

Love / Who makes a good Polish wife? [75]

The ones with their heads screwed on. My fiancee is tough, resourceful and talented. She gets things done. She will make a super wife.

News / What did Poland get out of the wars and struggles for others? [1108]

Greg is like a Romulan vessel. He decloaks and fires off a lame comment or two, then disappears back into a cloaked state, not to be seen for a while.

I'll have to start calling him Tomalok. It even looks Polish.

Scary closets? You should report to Polish TAPS and go onto Polish Ghost Hunters, LOL

History / Why official Poland attacked Serbians in 1999? Was it worth? [49]

I'd just stick my neck out by saying that the level of mutual respect isn't as high as you may surmise. Still, I don't wanna go round in circles with this. The Poles would respect them for going through a hard struggle in the same way as they respect Scots for our toil and graft to see us through trying times.

History / Why official Poland attacked Serbians in 1999? Was it worth? [49]

The two are not mutually exclusive, no.

If the support level was so high, this should have been reflected in a governmental rejection of the Kosovo settlement. It was sold down the river.

Many just don't care enough tho
