History / Poland before WWII or Poland now what would you choose? [390]

All that aside we all know the truth about Gdańsk. Germany wanted it to keep Poland from getting ahead. Germany was in a frenzy trying to figure out ways to keep Poland from becoming an economic force in the region so they pounced on Gdańsk. It's glaringly obvious and quite simple to detect the real motivation.

Life / Top 3 Most Important Things about which polish dentists will LIE to you bigtime [46]

All those telling that their dentists are to be trusted, seem that
they were simply lucky, and for them a big smile from the dentist
was enough to hand them their money and the health
of their very own teeth.

It's got nothing to do with luck. You should get referals. If your teeth are in bad shape be prepared to pay a lot tho. Anytime teeth need lots done to 'em it costs a lot. Sometimes people will say forget it and get them all pulled. I live in a place where a lot of people have bad oral hygiene and it's really gross. A lot of them never see a dentist when they are young and by the time they are twenty or so they need a lot of teeth crowned or pulled or something and they don't have the money to get all that work done. Best thing to do is brush the teeth, floss them, get them cleaned every 6 months so this situation never happens unless you want a lot of agony later.

Dentists are the only ones who are paid to do a BAD job.

Polsky, sounds like you might be finding the wrong dentists. I found a pretty good one by looking in the phone book but the hygienist is so-so. The office I go to hired a new one and she did a great job scraping around the gums. The hygienists are the ones I wonder about. Some are much better than others. I often wonder if they all have training as hygienists because some of them do hardly anything while others scrape the teeth really well and you can feel the difference a day later.

Maybe you should get referals? If you can find good referals, chances are you can trust the dentist.

News / Polish priest publishes sex guide [97]

.....I mean is not only celibacy, people in here seems to have general issue with priests....

I don't think it's because of the priests, it's Catholicism and Christian ethics that clash with their morals. Many people have a hard time living up to the high standards. They want to be freer than religion allows. Priests included. People have issues with the idea that you can sin over and over and always be forgiven, too.

News / Does Poland count in Europe or is it ignored? [427]

It's an exciting time for Eastern Europe, and everyone else there too. It will be interesting to see how it looks in 20 years. I bet everyone will be happier too.

Think of it this way, BB. If everyone in Europe prospers Europe will be stronger and more stable. It's in your best interest that everyone in Europe share in this prosperity.

The EU is bigger than that...they should have stayed out of it then.

They should act in their own self interest. BB you are out of touch with reality. You want to take the good and turn it into some kind of mediocre acceptance and apathy. It's time for Germany and France to give Eastern Europe their turn. You guys will learn to share some, eh, BB?

Ironside

You think they should have to stay celibate? Isn't that an unnatural state for men? Wouldn't they be happier with a sex life? The church needs to lift the celibacy ban. They are asking too much, expecting these priests to live a sex free life.

proof you are committed to EUROPE (not the US)...till then...

BB that's just an excuse. Your country and France need to step away every once in a while and let the spotlight shine more on eastern European countries. Don't be stingy! It's got nothing to do with who supports the US and who doesn't! It's a European trend that one can spot from way back so you can't blame us! Western Europe wants everything while Eastern gets very little.

It's so typical for Polish to get pi**ed off just about anything and this what I like about you.

Oh please. It's not about Polish getting pissed off. It's true for several nations in the EU. Britain, France and Germany run things, more or less.

It gets overlooked in the EU because there's too many aggressive countries. Germany, for one. When you are in a league that includes Germany, France and Great Britain, it's hard not to get overlooked. It's all about the ego of nations, ya know?

Love / Need advice with Polish girl, I like her but she has a boyfriend. [114]

The main problem is that she has a polish boyfriend (and has done for 3 years) and she has told me that they don't do much and that she is confused. She also seems to be very insecure and can't accept why I like her over other girls and worried that i'll get bored of her etc.

Well this sounds to me like both of you are insecure with each other. You do not present yourself as having a lot of faith in her or her in you. She thinks you like other girls over her and she is seeing another guy. The only way to set things straight is to have one of those heart to heart talks. Tell her you are ready to ditch the other chicks but she gotta ditch her other guy for it to work.

Life / Would I be accepted as a Pole (being half-Greek, half-Polish)? [16]

an outsider.

Well, he'll prolly be an outsider kinda anyway because he's not in his native land. He won't feel quite so isolated with a few friends so he might have fun if he can manage enough Polish to do that.

News / JEW YOUTH SHOULD CLEAN UP THEIR ACT IN POLAND [420]

Students participating in trips to Poland will not march through the streets with flags, will be held to new conduct standards and will volunteer with Holocaust survivors upon their return, according to new guidelines issued by the Education Ministry, Haaretz has learned.

That's good news! Maybe the better conduct will help ease some tensions?

Love / THE TYPICAL POLISH WOMAN? [148]

They can be demanding but, then again, so can many people.

Demanding is not necessarily bad. Did you know it's the ambitious, demanding people who actually get somewhere in life? Why do you want to talk people out of qualities that can help them succeed?

Oh and as far as comments go I've heard people say negative things about others, it's common. They say it in English right in front of others who speak the same language, especially where I'm from. They can be rude over here. Rudeness and bad manners are universal.

Or they whine because they expect someone to fix things for them.

A lot of the time it takes more than one person to fix things.

If it works for you; then more power to you.

Look closely at society. Who are the ones getting things done? Who are the ones others listen to? The ones who have the guts to say "It sucks what you are doing!" We are the movers and shakers and the progress makers.

those who actually lead instead of b.tching..

It's gotta start somewhere. You sound apathetic and apathy is our mortal enemy.

Hey it works in California too. See, it's not so bad. People who realize complaining gets things done are the smart ones who go places in life.

moaning never leads to getting things done..

Not true. It's the only way to get anything done in the state I live. Everyone does it. Like I said. Progress isn't made any other way!

so you are always hanging out with weaklings? ;)

If you prefer the nothing gets done way that's your choice. I would rather complain and get results. I call it "public opinion".

People don't know or listen unless you complain. It's not whining exactly. It's complaining and that's not the same thing. Where I live everyone does it. People are always complaining about something here and then what do you know? Something happens to change what they are complaining about if enough of them do it. Wow. Progress is possible.

There's that saying The squeaky wheel gets oiled. I don't get what the big deal is about complaining. If no one ever said anything nothing would ever get any better.

aeracankas are way more pro active with way less groaning.

Um, not sure what those are. Maybe we complain and are pro active at the same time? Someone's gotta say something first or no one will know.

I admit complaining is fun and is second nature to me.
