Polish priest publishes sex guide

A Polish Catholic priest has published a book which provides married couples with a theological and practical guide to spicing up their sex lives.

I am curious as to how helpful this book could be to a couple experiencing problems in the bedroom. It is after all written by a celibate man.

his book

Yes I saw this in the news a few days ago, made me smile because it was being dubbed
as the 'Catholic Kama Sutra.' So that should answer your question :)

Headline in the Guardian newspaper was as follows:-

"Sex and God do mix - according to 'Catholic Kama Sutra'"

discourages the use of any form of contraception, saying it can "lead a married couple outside of Catholic culture and into a completely different lifestyle".

and people listen to that drivel. oh well.

Back in Poland, centuries ago, my older neighbor was getting married and was going with his fiancée to a priest for teaching about marriage. He said that he could never wear a condom because of the teachings. His sperm was a livelihood and well being for his future wife. You know, she was his life's flower and a flower needs moisture to grow...

Luckily young women and men in Poland no longer fall for this crap, or we'll still have nine or twelve kids in the family. :)

Polish priest publishes sex guide

I heard that it's a bestseller already.

But when it comes to the young generation I think most of them will not care about this book. They have other sources of sex education than priests. ;)

As far as technical stuff is concerned, it's not a bad idea.

Still, sexologist would be better.

Absolutely. It is like writing a book on a cell having no idea what it is. I think Roman Catholic Church should adopt Orthodox approach on celibacy and when a priest wants to marry, he can do this before taking the oath. Ukrainian Catholic Church, part of which I am, has never had any issue with child sex abuse as Roman Catholic. Give your priest an option of getting married, it is as natural as air you breeze in. On the other hand, if a priest wants to advance on the church rang ladder, he must choose either: either you are a bishop or you are married and priest. Solution to many damaged lives and endless lawsuits problem.

Would you like to learn from prostitute? Hmm ... need a "sparing" partner ?lol

Still, sexologist would be better.

In what way?

Come on , Ironside, you have to know in oreder to write. It is not a kindergarten anymore. But I would also understand an input of a priest into a book written by a sexologist, prostitute and a gigolo :)

**** !!!I agree with you Nathan ....must be the weather !

Not ! Do you think priest cannot give as much input as sexologist, it mostly psychological knowledge in both cases ..... if practicing sex is so important to be good consulter why there is so many couples with problems?

One could say that doctor without mental problems cannot treat it because he didn't personally experienced it.
So, I'm not saying that every priest is better than sexologist but some might be!
You are judging a book by it's author - read it first and than have your say.

Why not? A prostitue deals with a wider variety of partners than an average person. The best person to learn from if one wants to try out something new.

In what way?

In the same way that a dietetician is better at writing on healthy food and a nephrologist is better on writing about kidneys. Simply - a sexologist has got education and expert knowledge in the area.

A priest has got neither knowledge about sex or experience in it. Why don't we tell some virgin car mechanic to write a book on sex. The same qualifications.

I completely agree with Switezianka, another case of a priest using his moral standing to venture into unknown territory and try to influence people's decisions. When will they ever learn? He should have put it into a spoof series :)

Yes,prostitutes have better technique than average woman we have to admit. But there are some non-prostitutes which do marvels far more advanced than pros.

I think it is talent.

I agree with Switezianka as well. But concerning your opinion, Seanus, I think you have to agree that priests can add some spiritual context to sex, which if taken completely out of a prostitute or a sexologist's knowledge and experience, may lack many deeper aspects, which both of the mentioned professions miss to confer to it.

Next time I'm in Poland (in 2 weeks time) I will buy this book, read it and express an opinion as to its contents. Knowing a little bit about what happens in the 'bedroom department', I'm sure that it would be easy to spot, whether he is writing from 'experience' or from the 'spiritual angle' and imagination.

Watch this space.

Individuals can add a spiritual context. They have spirits, don't they? ;)
