Its the best midge repellant there is.
The cattle are fairly safe, its the sheep that get worried.

Avon "Skin so soft", Deet 100 mostly.

I love it here - nearly ran over a pine martin tonight. Cute looking but vicious wee buggers.

UK, Ireland / Scottish Highlands need Polish workers. [11]

From todays news.

The Scottish Government has been urged to do more to avert a labour crisis in the Highlands as increasing numbers of migrant workers return home.

UK, Ireland / EU integration of Polish nationals in the UK vs no surrender [43]

Barney - I would be interested if you had a link for the Welcome Pack. I have searched both the Sinn Fein and the SDLP websites but couldn't come across it.

The N.I. government has a few links.

my children as Harries

Not a turn of phrase I am familiar with - what is it short for ?

Thanks

Can someone construct a sentence with the word "bezele" in it, please.
How does it differ from "ziom" ?

I asked my colleagues at work today what "Bezele" meant.
Half didn't know or had not heard of it, two said it was just a comedy trio and the word didnt mean anything.

Any nativespeakerums able to pomoc ?

( By the way - I dont think the word chapati is a very nice one ! )

News / Poland is being flooded by other people's waste [11]

This is how you flood a country with your waste - literally !

raw untreated sewage is pumped every day out of the Jewish settlements, along large metal pipes, straight onto Palestinian land

orangemen were supporting the pope and catholic army?

Its all to do with 17th century European politics. Without the Popes blessing William of Orange wouldn't have been able to fight King James.

King Louis of France was a bigger threat to the Vatican and Williams incursion in Ireland was a distraction from this. There is some evidence to suggest that William was funded by the Vatcian.

Opium for the masses etc

The Orange Order started off in Ireland in the late 18th century, it brought together a number of Protestant fraternities ( orders, fraternities etc were very popular at the time ). They came to Scotland as the Irish migrated to the industrialised Clyde valley looking for work in the mid 19th century.

Today they are mainly from the central belt of Scotland and from Northern Ireland.
To some, the marches are an embarassment and are ridiculed - to others the marches celebrate the victories of William of Orange over the mainly catholic armies of King James IV.

P.S. Thought for the day - aren't Protestants just Catholics that are Protesting?

UK, Ireland / 800K of Polish immigrants in UK don't pay taxes -what do the poles think [190]

How are they subsidising me

Paying for your education, subsidising your accomodation, subsidising your loans ( lets face it, you'd be stupid not to have one at that rate ), subsidising your healthcare etc etc

Basically, they are working and paying tax so you can enjoy these things - and no, a friggin paper round aint gainful employment.

taking more money out of the pot than they are putting in.

Which is what you are doing - except they aint ******* about the people that are paying the taxes.
