UK, Ireland / "Polish ambassador warns - think twice about coming to Britain for work " [126]

Ehm, I am sure you are not talking about ppl like me and many other Westerners, right?

Oh btw: I read today (and I have heard many Irish friends say it as well) that the outcome of the Referendum next week Friday will be a 90% yes, my good man. How about that?

UK, Ireland / "Polish ambassador warns - think twice about coming to Britain for work " [126]

benefit to its country

That's why the first years after 10 May 2004 all countries except Ireland, the UK and Sweden, closed their borders for Poles.

But besides this, I think Poland owes it to the rest of Europe to accept foreigners to come live and work within its borders. Simply because of the millions of Poles that flocked out across the continent in the past 5 years. What goes around, comes around, my friend.

Work / The Callan Teaching Method...... in Poland [11]

doesn't tease out many of the things required to be an effective communicator.

Correct, that is so important especially for the frail minds of children. Keeps them sharp and makes them smarter. That's why language is such an important part of intelligence.

M-G (found that his teachers at school in Holland did exactly that and he loved it)

Work / The Callan Teaching Method...... in Poland [11]

Ajb

And writing skills were exactly the point in which she needed to improve... I mean, she sometimes asked me to look at official letters she had written and I found at least 25 errors in a piece of text no longer than 3 sentenses. That's way too much. And then one can say: "yeah, but they all know what I mean", but even though this might be true, I just don't think it looks that good. And besides, if I didn't know what she was talking about, I wouldn't have a clue what she had written. Somehow it didn't surprise me that she never got answers...:) Her vocal capabilities were pretty good, yet she is following, or has followed the Callan method. Amazingly stubborn woman.

See, that's what I thought after reading some info about it. And I told her that, but she with her stubborn Polish mind said I was negative and that she (as usual) was right: her English overall would improve. Well.

M-G (not that it took that much to improve her English, but that's a different story:) )

Work / The Callan Teaching Method...... in Poland [11]

Seanus

Yes - I have a question: my ex wanted to do this and she said you will learn English in one quarter of the time normally needed. Is this true? How about writing skills? Are they emphasized as well or is it just about the vocal capabilities?

Life / Lolek i Bolek Main Polish Export Article? [7]

...I was just wondering, what is the main Polish export article? Something that is known world-wide and yet is original from, or was first produced in PL?

I saw Lolek en Bolek as a kid on Dutch and German television, mainly on German TV though. I thought they came from Czechia, but it turns out they're from PL.

Examples:

Sweden: Abba
Netherlands: Flowers
Ireland: Guinness
UK: Brits abroad :))
and so on...

M-G (and I don't mean Polish girls, ok?)

Come on guys, you can think of a major Polish export-article?

Let me myself give the kick-off: Kielbasa.

History / General Stanisław Sosabowski and the 1st Polish Parachute Brigade in Arnhem. [11]

isthatu2

I know for sure that in Arnhem and surrounding areas (like my area) they are treated with deep respect and admiration. But that seems only naturally to me anyway. They came to liberate us and if the plan would have succeeded, the war would've been over by the end of 1944 and maybe, just maybe, things would look a bit different in Europe.

Just wondering: how is Sosabowski looked upon in Poland? Is he, like other generals regarded as a hero or isn't he regarded much at all?

Life / How much cash to give as a wedding gift? [25]

I guess it all depends on how big the wedding is set up. From what I understand at Polish weddings you will eat until you burst and drink until you drop. If that is the case, then 400 PLN would be normal. But I guess it all depends.

News / Should Poland let in refugees from USA ? [80]

Reverse discrimination is the name of the game in the USA

Maybe. But we all take turns. The coloured ppl in the US have been subject to discrimination for centuries and now the white ppl are subject to it for a maximum of 8 years. After that it will probably be over. Just endure :)

Hm, you wouldn't say at first sight that Obama is Irish.

Life / How much cash to give as a wedding gift? [25]

Seanus

400 PLN per couple? That would be about 100 Euros. Quite a lot, in Holland, it's about 50 Euros per couple.

M-G (thinks now about getting married in PL - quite lucrative)

News / Should Poland let in refugees from USA ? [80]

And quite right. Had they surrendered, they would have been ripe for the pickings. Hail the Serbian spirit of resistance!!

LOL

Serbia proved that resistance is not futile. Arkan, love him or hate him, typified that spirit.

I find this too very amusing for a Tuesday night at 23:28 :)

No, PL should never hail US refugees in. That will teach those Americans to desert the Poles 600 years ago.

Crow, did you know that the word "Slavic" comes from the fact that the Romans used them as slaves? Hm, Crow wants to go back in time. I propose for Crow to go a little bit further back in time :)

History / Poland war propaganda poster - can anyone explain this picture? [292]

poor you if you depend on infos from me

I don't. I am just curious about your interpretation of things. Because I never heard that Britain was a traditional ally of Serbia. Britain didn't care and France was only in it because she was liaised to Russia. And Russia? From a Serbian view: with friends like that, who needs enemies?

And around the time of the Field of Blackbirds, politics were not global yet. And during the 3rd Balkan War? Well, that was really only Serbia herself. Kossovo? Hm, can't remember there were any Arab mujahedin involved there.

Love / Broken Heart, An amazing girl from Poland [139]

pgtx

Nah, I just dated her 3 or 4 times and at the 2nd or 3rd time it was party-time already! True, I wanted to be with her, but all my good intentions were not a match for her :( And she still is single...

Hm.

Oh, but they make us tough in t' Midlands, miduck :D

hehehe, even when you're toughened in the Midlands, you wouldn't stand this Dutch b*tch. To her friends she was nice, but her boyfriends...Don't know why she was that way: she had everything: smart, her parents were kinda well-off and she was really really dropdead gorgeous. Maybe she was born under a bad sign (Aquarian) or something?

barely speak English

Hm, that hasn't stopped the girls from getting non-Polish boyfriends abroad, I guess ;)

Indeed, it's a disgrace that they hardly speak the language of the country where they live in. But when I look here in Dublin, why should they? You got your Polish shops, bars and all, they usually do work that doesn't require a good command of English. There you go.

Nah, her hair was real. Don't know if she has them now, haven't seen her in over a decade. But 15 months? Can't be her :)

I was talking about Polish guys outside Poland, by the way.

Love / Received an email from a young Polish woman - Is she too good to be true? [70]

Eric Crapton

I had a few holidays back then :)

And I type pretty quick as well ;)

And besides, it was a one off, normally I don't react to those guys, but like said, I had some time on my hands and I thought I had a little prank with this one. Nowadays, I just delete them straightaway. But I guess you have to be Dutch to fully understand the jokes that I put in there. I had this placed on 419eater.com, look in the letters-archive, mine is there too, I think the second from the bottom or the third.

But it was intended as a little handle for you to deal with scammers like Elena cs.

lol

Nah, Nika (from Dominika?) is, judging by her avatar, crying all the time. While I have nothing against crying, doing this all the time might seem a bit odd :)

how can you say that Guys???!!! How would you feel if someone talked like that about your girlfriend/wife (if you have any, first of all).
so you think that pretty girls should go out only with handsome men??? hell no!!!!!

Well, hate to disappoint you, Nika, but it usually is that way. There is this theory that ppl are divided in certain groups: the first 5% is extremely beautiful, like photomodels or something; then there is 10 per cent who is not extremely, but still very beautiful, below this there is a group of 70% that is average, not ugly, not beautiful (with the more higher you get in this group, the more you are considered to be quite beautiful); then there is 10% which is below average: ugly, but not super ugly and finally you have the bottom 5% which is extremely ugly.

Now, according to the theory the top 5% dates the top 5% of the opposite sex (or same sex if they are gay); subtop dates subtop, average likes average and so on. Of course the lower group will always admire the groups above them and they might date or have sex, but something lasting will hardly ever occur. The only means to bridge the difference between the groups is either money or power and a combination of these two gets you in the top 5% as well.

This is an official theory and if you look around, you will see that this nearly always is correct. For myself, I don't think looks are that important, however, if I get to choose between an absolute hideous woman with an extremely good character, nice and all and a better looking woman with a bit less good character (mind you! Just a bit, I mean b*tches will never be able to maintain longrunning relationships), then I would choose the better looking woman. Just being honest.

I think I already told you the story of that friend of mine I had while in University: she was an absolute stunner, top half of the second group, I would say. But she is 30-something now and she never had a relationship any longer than 1 or 2 months. And why that is? Because she is such an extreme b*tch. Every man runs away from her crying for his mommy after a while. I dated her a few times and did the same as sooner or later every man she dates will get the thunderstorm on top of him. So, there are exceptions to the rule, but it's not that many.

A lot of dropdead gorgeous girls are exceptions too. While they themselves are in the second group, they date guys at the bottom of the average group. Why? Maybe because these men are Polish and there is this cultural thing? I haven't got a clue why. Can't be the money or the power; most of them are construction-workers :D And besides, the girls SOMETIMES date non-Polish men. Polish girls are considered popular as they are beautiful. How come you hardly see Polish men dating non-Polish women? Hm, must be a reason for that.

History / Poland war propaganda poster - can anyone explain this picture? [292]

Mucha

Have you read my posts?

plase, ignore my posts. Truth is too cruel for you

The truth that Germans are in fact partly Serbian? Now, that really hurts :)

last time when Serbians expected help from their traditional allays France and England, their soldiers arrived side by side with Arab mujaheedines killing Serbian civilians without mercy

When exactly did this happen? As far as I know the traditional allies of Serbia were Russia and to a lesser extent France, which was mainly bound to Serbia by the pact they had signed with Russia, but did not have that much interest in troublemaker Serbia. I want facts and dates when the British and the French attacked Serbia with the Arab Mujahedins at their side. Thanks :)
