Love / Polish girlfriend and birth control! [62]

Trust me, you don't want to be playing Russian roulette on that one. If you have a conscience, you will get into a panic if you feel that you impregnated her without meaning to do so. You can steer it away from that.

Knock her up, that's pretty crude. If I asked my fiancee if she wanted to be 'knocked up', I think she'd have a few words in my ear, and a few expletives.

This is exactly the kind of reprobate that walks into 5 marriages and comes out with 5 divorces.

Have some respect for the feelings of your partner. She is a teenager, lead by example and make her feel secure.

News / Interview by Krzystof Darewicz of Rzeczpiospolita (Polish Newspaper) [22]

If you don't believe in a Zionist conspiracy, answer me one simple question.

"We were there to document the event". Said by a Mossad member. What did he mean by that?

Oh, I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I have plenty of similar stuff to ask.

Life / Can I apply for unemployment benefits in European Union if i havent work [9]

I can remember doing the seminal cases. Van Binsbergen, Dassonville, Costa Vs ENEL etc. It was hard going actually, going through the obiter of the presiding judges and A-G's. Understanding the ratio decidendi of the likes of the Italian Trabbuchi took a bit of doing.

Principle-wise, I guess I was sound enough to have an argument with one of Europe's leading Professors. The depth of his research was amazing and I learned a lot from him. He has written one of the core textbooks, together with Stephen Weatherill, aptly titled EU Law. Paul Beaumont, have you heard of him?

I think he even touched on benefits :)

Some Scottish women turn to prostitution when they are in dire straits. My dad once had a function in a social club near the harbour area. He was flashed by a girl of, he said, around 15. Desperate for money!

Still, this thread is about unemployment benefits, noimmi. I actually collected JSA, my 36 pounds a month, when I couldn't get into work after returning from Asia. LOL, it happens. They subsidised a train trip down to London for me and contributed towards the hotel cost. They paid 30 pounds, and I covered the remaining 18 pounds, to stay in a lower-end hotel.

Noimmi, you are a law student and currently reside in Scotland. Has the position changed? I was treated quite well in the offices on Dee Street, Aberdeen. They seemed to look at me like I was out of place tho, but I took that in a good way.

BTW, does EU Law form part of the curriculum of your law course? I had many EU modules on the syllabus of my Hons year. It was thanks to the quality teaching that I received there that I decided to do further study. So, benefits?

News / England and Poland are friends [28]

How about them Braves? ;)

Nah, let's get back to the thread, guys. I feel that a lot has been written elsewhere on this. What I like about the title is that it leads you in a positive direction.

What Joe said is not without foundation, Hateful Bunch. The Zionists, in the higher echelons of the US Administration, are quite 'resourceful'. They wander into murky waters and into the realms of danger.

Although I've toned down my stance, through a desire to be more moderate, I still believe that the Zionists have had a hand in evil.

I hope Tusk realises the merits of Piłsudski. He should. After all, he wrote his thesis on him. Piłsudski is a legend but, like everyone, had his faults. It's neither my place, nor intention, to outline them tho. He was a brave warrior!

News / What did Poland get out of the wars and struggles for others? [1108]

polishsquadronsremembered.com/Victory_parade.html, a trait of many Poles is to feel hard done by, in Scotland too I might add.

However, some of the claims laid out by the author of the article square with what I have read. Indeed, if there was an invitation proferred to anybody other than 303 squadron, I'm not aware of it.

Harry, have you read any of the transcripts of Teheran or Yalta? I think the guy outlines other sources in the article above. In the Ascherson book I have, it is said that Churchill blew up and reeled off insults against the Poles. Hardly the actions of a decent and grateful man.

I know from my grandad's tales that there was a cordial relationship between many Glaswegians and Poles who came to serve in WWII. He speaks well of them in his recollections. He would have been in his late teens at the time so still forming impressions. They were tenacious fighters and loyal to the cause, sth us Scots value.

militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?t=142024, a tribute to the good things they did for us. Respect.

On a more light-hearted note, check out rhino, the girl in the thread above :) :). Yes, Aniołku, I still love you the most tho ;)

Law / Poland: the most attractive European country for future investors [55]

This is what I like, Prince. My fiancee's brother was the Lead Designer for a company in Katowice. He showed me demos of stuff and I was impressed at just how technically advanced Poland is, relative to the perception of others.

It's quite fitting that a competition was held in Tokyo, a true centre for excellence. Technology there is mindblowing.

Polish programming goes back a long way. Poland should hold its head high here and fingers crossed that investment continues at the same level or higher.

Life / Lebanese willing to Move to Poland. [18]

Geez, yehudi. It's very simple. The kind of comment you've just posted ensures that no progress will ever be made, provided folk like you are around.

Hezbollah attack Israel, Israel attack Hezbollah in retaliation. Can I put it any more simply? Stop making out that they keep attacking first. It's a perpetual cycle, they hate you and you hate them.

The job will never be done until they get their land back. Israel recognises the American conferred right to occupy the land. Catch 22, intractable problem.

Just try to imagine how those victims of Israeli attacks feel. Let me guess your response.....

Language / Rosetta Stone program - couple of clarifications requested [15]

Rote learning is fine if those subjects to it have absolute concentration but the human mind is not infallible and attention wavers.

The Japanese, for example, rote learn. However, a combination of perfectionism and shyness hinders them, making them reticent and ineffectual at times.

There are numerous factors involved, as ever.

Travel / Recommendations for Zakopane [48]

Many people from Chicago send money back home for developments in Zakopane, or so the rumour goes.
