atlantic 17 | 65 13 Dec 2008 / #1Hi, does anyone know where Aberdeen's Polish community is? Or any Polish shops of any kind?
Seanus 15 | 19,674 13 Dec 2008 / #2I guess you are referring to the Aberdeen that Kurt Cobain was from and not in Scotland, right?
osiol 55 | 3,921 13 Dec 2008 / #3Neither being Atlantic.Let's see... Polonia UK & Ireland... must be the one in Washington state I reckon.
Seanus 15 | 19,674 14 Dec 2008 / #4He's from America according to his profile. There are a few Aberdeens in the world, hence my question Osioł.
delphiandomine 88 | 18,163 14 Dec 2008 / #5Look at his posts, you lazy git :PAberdeen's community? The fish market is your best bet :)(either that, or there's quite a few to be found around the Bedford area)
Seanus 15 | 19,674 14 Dec 2008 / #6As I said, there are many Aberdeens you ignorant git ;)Yeah, there's a hugh community in Torry. Tillydrone and Bedford too.
osiol 55 | 3,921 14 Dec 2008 / #7Maybe there's an Aberdeen on Long Island. Maybe it has a Hugh community.
Seanus 15 | 19,674 14 Dec 2008 / #8Bedford is the main area then, near the University and St Machar Academy.Tillydrone is on the other side of the drive, opposite St Machar Academy. Tedder Road is the entry point there. The road where I have been the most stoned ever. A loooooong time ago now tho.I guess even Northfield and Mastrick would have Poles. Logie is also dirt cheap. Some of the more affluent ones, well, they could be dispersed and anywhere really. There is a Polish deli on George Street, near the Bon Accord Centre. It's a short walk from Bedford.
OP atlantic 17 | 65 15 Dec 2008 / #9Well, Aberdeen as in northeast Scotland. I'm spending some time up here, so I was wondering where everything is.
Seanus 15 | 19,674 19 Dec 2008 / #13Bedford is a place you can reach by taking the no6 bus from the city centre. As I said, it is near the main University and right next to St Machar Academy. This is your best bet.Failing that, try Northfield which you can reach by taking either the 59 or 12 bus from the city centre.Torry, which is within walking distance of the city centre, is also filled with Poles. There is a community centre there which helps Poles to learn and feel that they are integrating.TBH, I only know of one delicatessen which is on George Street, near the Bon Accord Centre so very central. It has bigos, gołąbki, Polish bread etc etc. You won't be disappointed.
