Language / tips for a westerner learning polish? [5]

can anyone point me to some good free lessons?

A good way is to do a skills swap (perhaps after learning some basic vocabulary)... Teach someone your native language whilst they learn yours. You can either get a penpal or converse via Skype etc.

These sites are dedicated language partner finding sites

huitalk.com
italki.com

Of course there is also good old gumtree.

Thanks everyone, don't forget to put the English translation for those people too lazy to use a dictionary!

Language / Polish Acronyms & Initialisms [15]

At the risk of creating the world's shortest thread...
I am getting bored of English/American ones such as LOL. Please share with me (and the world) your favourite Polish acronyms and initialisms.

Language / Translation Dictionary [10]

Yes, I use this one. Some slang/sayings on there too. Not bad, apart from the gay dating ads!

UK, Ireland / Polish workers found hung in Herefordshire [51]

but it must be of some interest to those who work here in the UK

The fact that two Poles died in the same location on the same day makes it unusual.

Language / Know any "Learn Polish" websites? [5]

I was in the language threads and I saw specific people asking for specific help

Not unreasonable that you should do the same. You did specifically ask for "good" sites. I quite like these sites, they don't require too much brain power.

[polishgrammar.com] - Polish Grammar
[goethe-verlag.com/tests/EO/EO.HTM] - Goethe Verlag, English/Polish Multiple-Choice Tests

Love / Polish Gay Life [142]

very easy to spot fortunately, except when the Bangkok Ladyboys are in town

Why?Do they talk with deep voices

The Bangkok Ladyboys are more female looking than most shemales (they do it for a living). Shemales are easy to spot, usually over 6ft tall, extra-large adam's apple, plod-sized feet.

Nothing radical, just the usual sort of thing...
Took him to straight bars on the pull. Tried to get him not to "mince".

Can gayism be cured

I tried to cure my nephew (Mary) once. Long story, but it didn't work. America has straight camps (run by religious organisations) to try to cure the gays.

Seanus implied that his friend was gay, but isn't any more.

My friend from Scotland was gay

So you cured him? Or he is no longer your friend?

I'm going to have a go, just so that other PF members can have a laugh and correct it!

Or indeed for Brits wanting to buy property in Poland (like myself)

UK, Ireland / 800K of Polish immigrants in UK don't pay taxes -what do the poles think [190]

The article actually shows them fitting into society

Indeed.
The article states:
"Migrant parents are claiming £33million a year in child benefits to look after their kids in Britain"
This is a very small figure considering the size of the Polish population in the UK.

I thought you were just being coy! He was arrested in a toilet in the USA somewhere after exposing himself to a male police officer (presumably the officer was on an undercover mission).
