Life / "Why bother!" - Experiences of life in Poland... [47]

The Polish taxman employs f*cktarded morons so screw him.

The English taxman also employs f*cktarded morons.

HOWEVER, it is worth remembering that the chances of f*cktarded morons being employed by the English taxman not actually being English are considerably higher than f*cktarded morons employed by the Polish taxman not actually being Polish.

In fact we can say that whilst f*cktarded morons employed by the English taxman may be Polish, we can say that f*cktarded morons employed by the Polish taxman are almost certainly not English.

UK, Ireland / Poles singled out as responsible for increase in knife culture [39]

A chief constable gave a stark public warning yesterday of 'immense' pressure placed on resources by the unprecedented influx of immigrants.

Julie Spence, who heads Cambridgeshire Police, took the highly unusual step of singling out Poles, Lithuanians and Iraqi Kurds who are carrying knives on the streets.

Travel / Does a strong Zloty damage Poland's tourism [14]

VaFunkoolo: Hi, I'm in the States - do you mean 107 British Pounds? Yikes, that is the price of some of the best hotels here!

I didnt say that but never mind. Anyway, the point is that prices for some products and services appear to be sky rocketing in Poland.

News / "We buy out Poland, Hungary, and Romania!" - the President of Israel [74]

Look! The foreign capital is not invested to help us, it's invested to earn money in poland. e.g. a big company builds 100.000 new houses. --> They just want to earn buy doing so, that means, that more capital, than has been invested will after that leave the country later! I don't talk about factories, which are being bulid in poland, where they pay taxes and create new jobs.

I don't think you really understand the ways of the world Poland has now become part of.

Poland has had billions of euros of EU money invested to help POLAND. Foreign investors are coming to make money in this new market in the same way that Poles have come to the UK to make money. Everyone benefits from this movement of resources.

Poles are naive!

Many Poles do appear very naive. Some also appear hypocritical. Like you.

Travel / WE ARE BACK FROM POLAND AND HERE IS OUR REPORT [96]

Not quite sure what you are talking about Lukasz but I think the relevent topic was just how bad Polish driving tends to be.

With regards to this, the OP said that the general opinion of the forum about Polish driving is right. It is terrible.

I said I agree. Polish driving is frequently horrific. I also said that there are people who can't admit this despite the overwhelming evidence

USA, Canada / Gas prices in America [127]

You guy's have me thinking like you now. I too am going to question these claims.

IMO it's good to question. I believe in looking for solutions rather than problems but I am also a skeptic and tend not to take things at face value. If your questioning reveals that all is good, then great. Problem solved. But in this instance I remain unconvinced.

Where are you. GB?

At the moment, but life takes me all over the place, which is how I like it :)

:) I did.. read all the way thru :)

I did. Smelly ;)

Thanks for the report. An enjoyable read

>We didn’t think the driving would be as bad as the forum said it would be as we survived NY, Italy and Portugal but we have to say the forum was correct.

LOL. Yes. But there are still those who live in denial.

USA, Canada / Gas prices in America [127]

Hey, with all sarcasm's aside.

Sorry, its a nationality trait I haven't been able to shake.

I agree with your sentiments and concerns. In one respect it's fantastic that the shale offers a possible route out of our current energy troubles but I sincerely believe that it's not the answer we are looking for. The UK government has just announced that they plan to rebuild of nuclear power stations as well as schedule new ones. Great. But I don't believe nuclear power is the answer either. Something tells me that following these options, we would just be creating problems for our children, or our childrens' children.

Perhaps cow farts are indeed the way forward but I am sure Paty mentioned kangaroos :)

9. If you weren't shagging her would you put up with her behaviour?

written on the basis that a disproportionately large number of men put up with shite in order to shag a physically attractive woman

are you a fish?

But seriously. Dont you think it would be better for all if we started looking for energy sources that aren't expensive, wasteful and environmentally hazardous?

USA, Canada / Gas prices in America [127]

Oh, thats all right then.

The fact that conventional oil prices are high obviously negates the fact that oil shale production is expensive, wasteful and environmentally hazardous. Silly me for not realising that earlier.

Unfortunately oil shale carries serious disadvantages. First, most of it needs to be dug out in strip mining rather that drilled, a process that has high environmental problems.

Once dug out, it then needs to be heated to 450-500°C, enriched with hydrogen via steam before the resulting oil is separated. We are then left with a sludge which has increased in volume by 30% through the process and needs to be disposed of.

The downsides of all this are that oil shale production creates more than four times as much greenhouse gases as conventional oil production, it uses vast quantities of water (which are not always available where the shale is), and wastes something like 40% of its initial energy in production.

Oil shale production is expensive, wasteful and environmentally hazardous. It is only now, when conventional oil prices are high, that oil shale production has become feasible.

Oh, super, the answer to all our problems

Travel / Warsaw Uprising Museum [7]

Judging by the website alone, this really does look like an impressive museum and a must for anyone visiting the city. I was really suprised how cheap entry is too.

I for one will be sure to visit next time I'm in Warsaw

Life / Anti-spanking law in Poland? [76]

If you ban smacking your children you may well end up with a generation of little sh!ts who need a damn good smacking. A bit like England.

About 3/4 of the Warsaw police's calls to intervene in household violence involve unmarried couples

Could you provide your source please.

This statistic, if correct, suggests some underlying problems that can't simply be solved by getting married

Im waiting to sell my house at some distant point in the future before I pay the heating bill I will have built up by then. The downside of owning a period property with sash windows.

Travel / Polish spa resorts [10]

My times in Baltic coast saunas have not involved wearing very much. In fact nothing. Which was probably a frightening experience for those in the sauna with me but never mind. I enjoyed it.

As for your dim and pointless question, I would suggest a more casual dresscode than Warsaw. Coastal is always more casual than Capital I tend to think. Plus you might well venture down to the beach for some nocturnal revalry and the Polish coast does tend to be pretty laid back

Have a little self respect. This is the greatest gift you can give yourself at present. Remember, you don't need anyone else to validate your self-worth. A healthy relationship is not formed through a mixture of adoration and constant defence. Have a little self respect.

News / Pope's would-be killer wants to move to Poland [36]

You're sticking to the assumption that I don't possess the experience of having been to Polish and American prisons, aren't you?

You would like me to be sticking to this assumption, wouldn't you, as it would give you an excuse to scream polonophobia again. Although quite how you would make that assumption from what I have said is not immediately apparent, but that doesn't seem to have stopped you previously.

Is it infact the case that you have experience of neither Polish nor American prisons and have drawn your assumptions on the basis of 'if its Polish, it's got to be better?'

How would you know that what I'm saying in my above post isn't derived from my personal experience?

I of course don't know that but would expect someone who was saying that A is better than B would have some personal experience on which to base their claim.

It is always refreshing to have people speak from personal experience on the forum and if you have this of Polish or American prisons then please share.

So many here seem to base their assumptions on other peoples' words. Hardly credible, wouldn't you agree?
