News / EU or America - which country is better to work now? [56]

one thing that struck me on my recent visit state side was just how easy people have it over there...

Care to elaborate, BW? I'm curious in the differences [might have to use them as a ploy to get you over here permanently or vice versa ;)]

Life / Polish hooliganism in sport [141]

OK, when I hear the term "hooligans" I think of a bar I use to frequent in college (20 years ago) or I think of a bunch of young fraternaty boys drinking and being loud and obnoxious! So there is actually such a thing as "men" who live a lifestyle of getting into fights at sporting events......sounds like gangs to me......I think of the Crypts and the Bloods.*****Hmmmm, I learn something new everyday*****

Ehm look ,

Thanks for the laugh! LOLOLOLOLOL

Love / Is She Doomed to be miserable and have her marriage fail? [41]

she told me that she has not missed him at all since he has been gone. Not even shed a tear. .......
she is planning to break up with him when he gets back because it is not polite to break up when he is in the other side of the world at the moment. Why does she drag it out.

oh get this... they have been living together for a year, and since he has been gone, he has made her pay 100% of the rent/bills while he is out of the country working and making good money. great guy eh? top notch.

He doesnt sound that compassionate towards her either.

I agree with wilderwaif.....sounds like the best thing for everyone is to go on living there lives separate.....something tells me, she may be creating drama for some attention.....she obviously doesnt care about her "fiance" and I doubt too much he cares about her.

Law / Getting a visa to stay in Poland longer than 90 days... [14]

You don't need a work permit/visa if you are a Native Speaker of English. I was shown 4 documents at the immigration office confirming that.

Really? And it's legal? What documents were you shown?

OMG, it's delicious! I have had the store bought.....first time I have ever tasted was in middle school....my best friend was from New Jersey and introduced them to me.

I used potato, cheddar cheese, and a jalepeno in the middle......out of the oven, I topped it with sour cream and salsa......mmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!

USA, Canada / Advice for Polish girlfriend getting tourist visa to visit America? [45]

Good question, but I don't think so. BW didn't need one to come see me, so I doubt that I need one to come see him. Of course, if I decide to stay, well, your guess is as good as mine! ;) Don't think I really have to worry about it at this time, though. :)

USA, Canada / Advice for Polish girlfriend getting tourist visa to visit America? [45]

Listen to Krysia! If your relationship is meant to be, then no amount of time you might have to wait will change that. You might have to wait several months, but you know the old saying, "Good things come to those who wait!" Good luck. :)

Life / Old Disease in Poland. [12]

I dont know what doctors he sported
for his heath care, but saying that it wasnt contagious "someones lying"

I don't believe his doctors told him that.....if that were the case, why was he being sneaky with his travels? He didn't want to get stuck in a country that possibly could not treat him----he admits he feared for his life in case he needed extreme health care.

He was being selfish, pure and simple.....didn't care about anyone but himself, IMHO.

a new strain of Tb which is drug resistant

Actually, P, it's not a new strain, just a very rare strain. It's because of strains like this that people must always complete a round of antibiotics, even if they feel better after only taking a few......thats how drug resistant strains develop.....the strain is not completely wiped out and it grows an immunity to the drugs that were intended to treat it.....think in the case of a flu shot.....we are given the virus in a low dose in order to form antibodies to it.....same thing happens here, except its in reverse.....the virus forms antibodies to the drugs.

Food / Silly question: Diet Coke in Poland? [15]

Is it better or worse?

To me, it doesn't matter because I'm a diet pepsi girl....can't stand diet coke, although I did try the coke light in Tahiti, and to me, it tasted like Tab (could taste the saccharin in it).

Diet Coke in Poland?

Don't know where you are from, Kirsty, but the diet coke in Europe tastes different than than the diet coke in the US as does regular coke according to BW.

Love / What does a Polish guy expect from a relationship? [54]

I agree with UKinpoland.....he doesn't sound confused to me unless there is something you haven't told us.....the only sound advice I can give you is to be true to yourself.....if he starts to pressure you for something more or becomes possessive, then stand your ground.....if that upsets him, then he's probably not the guy for you.

Love / I cheated on my girlfriend (I'm British, my gf is Polish) [167]

was it possible for my husband to still love me while he was sleeping with other women, cos this is what he,s still claiming

I think anyone, man or woman, who sleeps with others while in a committed relationship lack both maturity and integrity, and therefore can't truly love anyone, but themselves. When one thinks of themself and opts for immediate gratification with someone other than their spouse/partner, they are displaying self-centered behavior....no regard for anyone but themself.....that's not love.

Love / I cheated on my girlfriend (I'm British, my gf is Polish) [167]

its ok to have more than one woman but is there any such thing as a culture where women can have more than one husband ?

Yes there is such a thing.....it's called polyandry and is much less common than polygyny (1 man w/more than one women) Both are types of polygamy.

Love / I cheated on my girlfriend (I'm British, my gf is Polish) [167]

why would women tend to forgive this more?

There's a difference in forgiving and accepting the man back into your life.....I have found when I practice forgiveness, many times it is more for me than the individual I am forgiving.....it's accepting that they are human and will make mistakes......doesn't mean I have to stay around and wait for them to make another mistake.

Love / I cheated on my girlfriend (I'm British, my gf is Polish) [167]

I agree with what others say....she may forgive but will never forget....it's going to take a lot of work to rebuild trust.....you will have to be patient with her, because the next time you are out without her or she's feeling a little insecure, she will probably give you the third degree....even if you are doing nothing wrong, you have to remember you gave her a reason to be suspicious....just forewarning you......good luck.

BTW, you are a very lucky man that she forgave you.....unfortunately, in my past, I have had boyfriends who have cheated, and no matter how much I cared for them, I couldn't see past their indescretions....I could forgive, but never forget, and therefore I knew things would never be the same......so I had to move on....

Work / Moving from USA to Poland (job at $100K a year) [23]

Would someone care to give me their opinion as to how different our lives will be?

I would think your life will be very different as you would be moving into a new culture....thats not necessarily a bad thing....depends on your attitude while living there....you can take away great things from the experience or find things to criticize. We make our own happiness in life....doesn't matter where you live in the world....as long as you are open and accepting to the differences in cultures, I think overall it would be a great experience. You only live once, might as well experience as much variety as you can. Good luck. :)

Great salary (for the US standards too). For that kind of money the standard should be about the same in Warsaw like it is Washington, DC.

That is a good salary, although for a couple with 2 small children, living in DC, it's really not a lot....DC has very high cost of living.....not sure about Warszawa, although I know its more expensive to live there as opposed to other cities in Poland. You really would have to get an opinion from someone who actually lives there to get a true sense as to whether 100k would be worth your packing up the entire family and moving.
