Love / Polish women are known for their beauty, but men are so ugly (most of).. [250]

Women don't fall for guys' looks. Girls do, women don't.

i really like the way you said it lol

like i said before, i don't agree with the statement that Polish women are all hot and guys not so much. there is a big variety over there. i don't think there is a big problem with obesity or disfigurement lol, but to be honest you will see a lot of people who just don't take care of themselves properly and look rough even though they're fit and young. females with bad dress sense, bad hair, BAD tan, a tash lol...

Language / Poles! How do you cope with English phonetics versus English spelling? [37]

It's possible to learn to write in English but with wildly inaccurate pronunciation

that's the tougher way if you want to learn to speak conversational English fast, it will take you longer to learn the pronounciation and speech if all you know is the text book. apart from a few exceptions such as choir or quiche etc., there are a few simple rules to follow in order to get to know how to say things in English. now the accent is another thing...

speak English well but with very bad spelling

that would be a big part of British population ha ha :D, yeah this is very common, especially writing down things in English the way they sound in Polish, such as aj lajk or gud etc., not saying that bad for everybody, just so you have an idea. people learn English cos it's everywhere, tv, songs, you can hear it all the time and that's how you pick it up. if you lived in UK for some time with no English skills you will pick things up from conversations or the media, but grammar and spelling is essential, just to understand the language and how it works instead of learning it by hard and limiting your vocabulary only to things you overheard.

of course the combinations of the above are there as well, depends on the level of spelling and pronounciation. my spelling is on a much higher level than my pronounciation, i speak clearly but i often say things not quite right or if i'm in a hurry i get the tenses wrong. but i realise i made a mistake straight away once i've done it lol.

Love / Love my polish girlfriend alot but under pressure from family [166]

Yoshi

lol that's a bit drastic, but i can see your point. if the relatives are toxic people who don't really care about your good and will make your life difficult if you don't do as they say then really what is the point in respecting their opinion? it's like they will love you only if you obey and behave the way you're told. that's not the unconditional love you should expect from a parent or any other relative, they are acting very selfish and trying to manipulate you. if they weren't related to you, would you like them to be your friends, would you listen to their advice? i don't think so. i know parents deserve respect, but it works both ways.

UK, Ireland / Here comes the Anti-Immigration marches.... [114]

Jystina, she is a prime example of a person who changes her views like the wind.

you trying to insult me by spelling my name wrong ha ha? when do i exactly change my views huh? is it about me being racist and then slamming you for making jokes about black people and saying they're 'hillarious'? i always said i didn't like Turkish men and that's about it, nothing to do with them having dark skin. it's like some people not liking ginger people. you probably only complain like this on the forum, you would not walk up to a bunch of 'pakis' and tell them to get the hell out of 'your' country. so yeah, why are you even here if all you ever do is complain about 'pakis' and n*ggers? next time you want to bring my name up in your rants, get some evidence to back up what i supposedly say and learn how to spell, cheers.

USA, Canada / Why aren't Polish people immigrating to Canada instead of the UK? [148]

Why aren't Polish people immigrating to Canada instead of the UK?

visas, probably, don't need visas for UK

IronsE11: Wouldn't your statement suggest that Poles are emmigrating to Canada?

Yeh theres loads of them, ever watch ice road truckers? every other name ends in ski.

just cos their name ends with -ski doesn't mean they're native Poles

UK, Ireland / Rise in race crimes linked to attacks on Poles [50]

i'm sure many bartenders and bouncers get hassle from p*ssed up clients everywhere in the world, regardless of their nationality. what's with this self pity thing among Polish people, always crying that they are victims and everybody hates them. have you personally been assaulted cos of your nationality, rafik? there are racist idiots everywhere, but i'm sure that British bar staff get just as much abuse if they refuse to let the culprits into a bar or serve them alcohol. that's the risks this job brings, especially in a large, busy city such as Edinburgh. get over it.

Przesiadała się w Londynie do San Francisco...

like esek said, this is the correct version. She changed in London (on her way/to go/to get) to San Francisco.

Language / TAK, ABY [4]

i'm pretty sure that there should be 'tak jakby' in there instead of 'tak aby'. let me explain what the difference is:

zyj tak, aby byl to twoj ostatni dzien - live [your life] so that it's your last day = no sense
zyj tak, jakby byl to twoj ostatni dzien - live [your life] as if it was your last day

they are two different things.

tak aby - so that
tak jakby - as if, kind of, like etc.

Travel / Anyone know about a village called Bobrownik in Warmia? [9]

One way bus ticket Olsztyn -> Lidzbark cost about 10zl

what!!! i remember i used to pay 4 or 5 one way. that was about 4 years ago but still, i see the prices have doubled if that's what it costs now. i'm not sure if there is a bus to Bobrownik, but there probably must be one cos there should be kids there and maybe they go to one of the schools in Lidzbark. i just checked there is a bus, if you find the bus station in Lidzbark Warm. just ask from which stand does the bus to £aniewo or Lubomino leave from. you can buy the ticket at the station or from the driver. if the bus times don't suit you it's of course easier to get a taxi, it's only abot 10 or 15 mins from there. if i'm not wrong and if it hasn't been moved, the taxi stand is right next to the bus station, on the right side.

Law / Polish tradesmen: Be careful... some may cheat you.. [37]

not a good advert for human nature

you should've seen WB's comments (which have been deleted now) about Poles being C*nts and that Hitler was right, some advert of a decent human being. fair enough i understand someone can get angry cos they're not happy with what they got for their money, but it's not like they delivered 2 tonnes of sand instead of wood to his backyard. a grown man coming to a forum and venting his frustration and hatred is really pathetic. it was so easy to prevent, all he had to do was check, but he prolly couldn't be arsed to go outside, not used to the cold weather the delicate flower that he is. that'll teach him.

Law / Polish tradesmen: Be careful... some may cheat you.. [37]

um in Poland it's usually just people who live in blocks of flats that have gas heating, everyone else has central heating and they use wood, coal, brykiety and stuff. my folks have their own bit of land with forest, if the wood was too wet it just dried in the basement, if it was too big it would get chopped up. of course you should check things before you pay for them, it's POland and you're a foreigner, they love to take advantage of people like you over there but i thought you knew it already? not saying check if it burns, but just have a good look at it, surely you know the size of your furnace, and surely you know wet things dont burn. it's not a big deal at all, you got a good deal, all you need to do is dry it and chop it up. stop being such a cry baby. you want them to put it in a microwave for you? or blow on it?

Law / Polish tradesmen: Be careful... some may cheat you.. [37]

A call from the paper a done deal in cash, youre obviously well out of touch

and you're obviously a naive loser cos i lived with my parents in the countryside for years and they never got ripped off like that. it usually helps to get wood and coal from people you know and trust. maybe if you can't handle it, life in Poland is just not for you.

In Great Britian what you buy is what you get.

yeah... lol

you're all talk WB aren't you, if you're such a tiger go and get 'em, surely it wasn't krasnale who sold you this wood, they didn't just disappear back in the forest did they? you should check and if neccessary complain about stuff on the spot, hasn't life in Poland taught you anything?

Love / Polish winking women - does it means she's interested in me? [9]

don't laugh, he might be 12! :) as a Polish female i must say that this sort of insecurity, uncertainty and the lack of initiative really does put me off straight away. it's not cute, it's not sexy, it's definitely not very manly either. i don't wink that often but if i winked at you - you're in! lol...
