wow wow wow hang on mate, i didn't say investing in Poland is bad, no way, i just meant people that live in other countries and send all the money they earn back to Poland.

People have different aims in life ... some people send everything some nothing ...

sick sick sick, take from the country and send it home, i'm sick of hearing this rubbish!!!!.

English people invest money in China because they think that it will be more profitable in future ...

For some Polish people it is easier to invest money in Poland (btw it is great place to invest)

El Gato

Dzhaklin

IMO ;) Poland still isn't USA (take it for consideration) that is why still so many Polish people work as kitchen porters in UK ... :O)

Situation is much better and perspectives are good so I am glad that you want to move back :)

20 bilions PLN = 9 bilions USD

great year

all in all there must be advantage that 10 milions Polish people don't live in Poland.

History / What Happened in the Danzig Corridor 1939? Poles Slaughtering Germans? [133]

No, Celinski...I know about that...in 1939 many Germans were massacred in the Danzig corridor, some claim by Poles, some say 'bolsheviks'...this was the event that directly provoked the German invasion...did the Poles commit these acts for any or no particular reason?...and did this act have the support of the Polish government, or was it an act committed by bolsheviks?

bolsheviks in 1939 in western Poland ? Provokations ? ... Joe ... I think you have problems with history ... I don't know what is mainstream history in USA ... I feel it is much different than in Poland.

News / Polish - French relations [41]

Then, about French people drinking Wódka and Germans drinking Vodka, i don't really know :))

I have noticed (in Paris) that Sobieski Wódka is everywhere, In Germany it is really hard to find Polish Vodka. I think it must be popular Wódka in France ;) if you can find it without problems.

from my link ;)

In the late 17th century, Polish king John III Sobieski was married to a French princess, Marie Casimire Louise de la Grange d'Arquien, and tried to forge a Polish-French alliance.

You had fun ? Where did you go ?

Christmasts in Colmar (nice ... and boring place ;)) and in summer I have been to Paris ... I enjoyed it ... at the begining of june I will be there with my friends once again (for 3-4 days)

And if i remember well, i think he's actually a real plumber :P

of course he is ;) and she is reall nurse ;-)

UK, Ireland / Don't let Poles from the UK go home [8]

Merged: Financial Times : "Poles go home to greener pastures"

next form series of the articles from FT. Showing that in is not going to take a lot of time, when discussions about Poles in UK will be much different than they are now.

ft.onet.pl/0,8233,poles_go_home_to_greener_pastures,artykul_ft.html

More and more Poles who moved to west European countries after Poland joined the EU in 2004 are coming to the same conclusion. There are no firm numbers on the flow of migrants in a borderless Europe where many people work seasonally, returning frequently to Poland by bus or cheap airline. But anecdotal evidence suggests the outflow is diminishing and people are starting to come home.

Finally, many Poles, like Ms Tatulinska, found it was easy to get low paid, entry-level jobs in Britain, but much more difficult to break into professional work where the pay would be enough to contend with the high living costs of British cities. They are finding it much easier to get on the career ladder back home. “I say to our recruits, ‘Stay and work in Poland and in a few years the people who’ve gone to work in England will be back and they’ll be working for you,’” said Pawel Lobejko of Accenture, the consultancy, at a conference on labour migration.

I haven't been voting on him. I don't agree with him in many points. When it comes to Ukraine I agree with him in 100% the same as PM Tusk agrees with him in this case. This is why he is going to represent us on NATO summit.

Bratwurst when you talk about German imaginative victims it is very current issue. When we talk about oue true victimes , you tell us to "get over it". Why Merkel havent said for Isrealis to "get over Holocaust" and stop crying ? But she was beging for merci.

Germans don't have law to tell us if we should rememebr or not.

As to Ukraine:

Germans are first A SS lickers of Russia.

Germans avoid fighting in Afganistan (you don't want to send soldiers to dangerous regions). Countries who fight in Afghanistan on first line want Ukriaine in NATO.

I find it pathetic that German who do everything to make NATO unsuccesful now want to block Ukraine membership because of Russia.

THIS DISCUSSION ISN'T ABOUT EU. IT IS IF GERMANY AND RUSSIA CAN DECIDE IF UKRIANIE IS INDEPENDENT COUNTRY OR NOT.

(I find it funy when I hear eastern German talking about how much they pay for EU, you still take)

That is why AMERICAN HEGEMONY IS IN POLANDS BUSINESS. SORY lovely EUROPE ...

READ BRATWURS AND YOU WILL UNDERTSAND SOME OF OUR DECISIONS ...

americans are ***** but we don't have choice ...

Bratwurst article for you : news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/7313570.stm

He said the "French-German axis" was an "indispensable driving force" in Europe, but in order to bring its 27 nations together "we need a French-British entente".

all europe waits to moment when Germany will ign EU constitutuion and you will know your place ;)

News / Thank to Polish people for current relations with Ukraine [89]

All I think that Ukraine should have done decision in 2004. Now it is much harder, and we support them because it is in our business ... unfortunately now there are biger money on table (gas, gas, gas) and nothing is sure... (Poland has clear opinion in this case)

as to Polish politics Kaczynski and Tusk do everything to deal with Russians. Tusk does it in more civilizated and realistic way ... we will see. I am not talking about invasion, one thing is sure. There will be no Imperial Russia with global aspirations without submissive Ukraine. Some people seem to don't understand it some pretend that they don't understand what is happening ...

it is not about if they are for or against. all I think it should be independent decison of Ukriane, where they want to belong.

ConstatntineK what are you trying to show, that your Russian ancestors isntead of liberating Poland were murdering Polish soldiers who fought against Nazis ? This post shows how it was durring communism. And some people (like Istahu) will think twice before they will start to tell stories about liberation by Soviets ...

Thank you Constantine, good post.

Later Polans had union with Vistulians (Krakow) and it was begining of Polish country ... Czechs and Slovaks went their way ...

in 14th century capital was moved to Krakow ... Later to Warszawa (because of Geographical reasons)

News / Thank to Polish people for current relations with Ukraine [89]

time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1726240,00.html?xid=rss-topstories

(KIEV, Ukraine) - The struggle over Ukraine's bid to join NATO intensified Friday with a Polish expression of support for Kiev and a Russian offer of more cooperation in Afghanistan if the alliance shuts out both Ukraine and Georgia.

The summit is turning into a critical test for the alliance, which is split on the issue of Ukraine and Georgia. The United States, Canada and Eastern European members are backing them. Germany is leading Western European opposition and warns that granting the membership plan would torpedo hopes of improving relations with Russia.

Our meeting today confirmed that ... friendship between Poland and Ukraine is not just a motto, but it is a fact," Tusk said. He added that since both prime ministers assumed office at the end of last year, bilateral ties have acquired "new breath, new wings."

We understand why Ukrianinas welcomed Germans with flowers ... during WWII ... they thought Germans are better than Soviets ... once again they were wrong ...

faminegenocide.com/resources/genocide/

At the peak of the genocide, which was in March 1933 according to Prof. Conquest, Ukrainians were dying at the rate of 25,000 per day, 1,000 per hour or 17 every minute. Estimates of the total deaths vary from 5 to 10 million but 7 million is the accepted figure. This was almost one-quarter of the population of Ukraine.

Ok I would like to notice that international situation changes dramaticly.

I think that we shouldn't sell Ukrainians for Russians. I think they should have the right to have free choice.
Russia+submissive Ukraine is problem for EU and USA and nightmare for Poland.

Polish people are the most loved nation on Ukraine. I think that Polish people don't love Ukrainians (because of some reasons) ... we have practical view on this issue and leting Russians to decide about Ukrainians is horrible mistake.

They are not mature nation and they need more time, all I want to say is that we shouldn't close doors for them just because Russians say so.

UK, Ireland / FT: UK labour fears as migrants go home [7]

The farmers say the same thing year after year, to ensure more work permits are given out.

Main problem was that it was TO MUCH, so now there will be less. I hope tensions will decrease.

A total of 796,000 workers from the 2004 accession countries, two-thirds of them from Poland, have registered to work in the UK since 2004 - far more than the government had expected. But official figures do not reveal how many may have returned home after working only a short while. The Polish embassy has been warning since last summer that the number of Poles returning is close to equalling and by now may have overtaken the numbers arriving in the UK.

UK, Ireland / FT: UK labour fears as migrants go home [7]

Financial Times

"Food producers are facing labour shortages as hard working migrant workers are starting to turn their back on Britain and return home, union leaders will warn on Saturday" :

ft.onet.pl/0,8176,uk_labour_fears_as_migrants_go_home,artykul_ft.html

Polish wages rose by 12.8 per cent during the 12 months to the end of February as employers sought to combat skill shortages in industries such as construction , prompting warnings this week that authorities may have to raise Polish interest rates further to stem inflationary pressures in the country.

Farmers have complained that tougher immigration policies will restrict numbers of low skilled workers coming from non EU countries just as the supply of eastern and central Europeans may be starting to dry up.

Love / Polish-Islam Relationship Union [450]

Are we talking about reallity or your interpretation of Koran ? As I know there is plenty of interpretations and I am not sure which is main stream.

Ok I want to show you one fact 95% of Polish people say they are Catholic, 70% of Polish people believe in God ... Poland is more complicated issue than some can think and there is strong influence of history ... it was forbiden to be catholic and we have our character ... When atheism would be forbiden I think there would be 70% of atheists in Poland ...

There is one problem with muslims and Polish people, we have our expirience and I don't think it will be possible to have 2 or more wifes. Demonstartions like this in London wouldn't be so peaceful... I am not going to trust muslims form countries where it is impossible to be christaian or atheist. They are strongly connected with their countries and as we know most of them don't feel French or British ... even who were born in this countries. . I don't consider Obama African muslim because he respects american culture and he has American way of thinking.

What is more you have in Coran statements that Islam is going to move on North ... and as I know some people think it is happening now ...

I don't believe in assimilation of religous muslims, as I know most of muslims don't believe in it as well. I am against opening borders for muslims. When I am in muslim country I have to respect you culture, law ... I think that people who don't understand law in european countries should be expelled as soon as possible to countries of their origin. I am not talking about whole groups of people, simple take this all people form demonstration (I posted on this page) and send them to countries they love.

Kosovo is the best example of what is going to happen in some places in Europe. Successfuly Poland is on one of the last places when there is this kind of danger.

bellzii

It is not problem of Islam. It is not question if it is good or bad. If it is peaceful or not. It is problem of differences between cultures. We are not going to accept (in Poland) social benefits for second wifes, or shiria law, or mariages with teens, stoning people. Small musilm society isn't problem. Big is problem. In my opinion when you will be in majority you will change law. I see you truly belive Allah is right, and when majority of people will think the same religous freedom will be over.

Some european states don't have anny expirience with assimilation of really exotic cultures. Me (Pole) and you know that muslims are not going to assimilate in enormously big % in upcomming 100 years. Some will aclimatisate in enviroment but there will be enourmous difference as long as they will be muslims.

Finaly small musilm society isn't problem. Big musilm society is problem. Polish tatars are the best example musilms, non whites, and accpted. They undestand what is mulitcultural society. They don't even try to tell us that Allah is right, and they have only one wife, and they go to polish courts they use Polish law their dauthers choose their husbands. After 600 years 80 % of them feel Polish.

Genealogy / Polish and Mongolian [30]

I can't find mine in any Polish heraldry literature and I'm wondering if Poles of tatar origin had different ones

I think you can do some researches in Lithuanian heraldry literature, Tatars were mostly in this part of Commonwealth. (this time borders were different so now Tatars are noticable in north east Poland, Lithuania, Bielarus about 10,000-15,000 Lipka Tatars in this countries...)

There is book in Polish

Stanisław Dumin "HERBARZ RODZIN TATARSKICH"

about Tatars heraldy , I havent read it but I think all answers are there.

szlachta.org/selim2.htm

(this two are Polish Tatars )

if you want you can send me your Coat of Arms. I can check your origin.

Are tatars in Poland viewed as a curiosity or as normal everyday people?

In our history books there is a lot of articles about Tatars so people know there were tatars in Poland.

In north east Poland people know that they are, in other parts of Poland it is well known fact in better educated part of society. It is tinny miniority with very long history ( 600 years). After this time most of them consider themselves Polish only 17% have different opinion. They have been always considered equal citiznens in the past, and they have good opinion in Polish society. They are muslims but they don't have anything to do with extremists. In the past they were fighting mostly against Turks (muslims) ... so they got privilages (some had nobility) and are positive characters in our history.
