News / Polish "brainbox" comes back to Poland from the UK for a better education [77]

Your statements about logic are illogical

wait... dont tell me... youre polish, huh?

However this is not the first time i've seen that criticism levied against "Polish" argument techniques

like most things connected with poland, the prime example being the language, polish arguement techniques tend to be a lot more abstract than they actually need to be.

but credit where its due

if you come up with an arguement that is so abstract and illogical that the person you are debating with just has a wtf expression on their face you tend to win the arguement... even if its by default

UK, Ireland / Boris Johnson has been declared the Mayor of London [25]

guaranteed public school boy tomfoolery, splendid!

My plan to change London for the better includes the following:

* Beef up the police presence on our streets by increasing police numbers and cutting red tape at the Metropolitan Police Service
* Implement serious strategies on knife and gun crime and arm the police with handheld weapon scanners
* Crack down on the culture of casual disorder that leads to more serious crime, with live CCTV on buses and a community service scheme for young people who abuse free travel

* Make transport safer by putting more uniformed officers on buses and station platforms
* Protect our green, open spaces and encourage more recycling across the boroughs
* Scrap the proposed £25 congestion charge and make the existing system fairer and more flexible
* Work in partnership with local councils to build the homes that people want and can afford
* Stretch the taxpayer pound to give Londoners more bang for their buck and axe the waste and overspending at City Hall.

good on ya bozza

Love / Confused English man: is she stringing me along or is she confused? [62]

I do believe in chasing dreams.

absolutely

you only live once and life is too short for wasted opportunities. but sometimes you need to know when to cut your losses so that other opportunities are not missed.

good luck - youve obviously put in a lot of effort and i hope you get what you are looking for

I think she knows how she feels but she won't say it because she is getting something from you that she doesn't want to lose.

i think this too mate. sorry

Love / Confused English man: is she stringing me along or is she confused? [62]

that is not a lot

so cultural difference

for an average english man, 3 years chasing a woman and not knowing how she feels or if the relationship is going anywhere is a long time. especially if they are phoning her everyday from another country.

its obviously a cultural thing

Travel / The Tri City: I can see why you live here [17]

over the past couple of weeks as the summer season kicks off i have been organising bespoke tours of the tri city and surrounds for british visitors. with the convenience of a car, and somebody who knows the area, they get to visit places that may otherwise not be seen - the tri city i know and not the one limited by guide book entries.

the weather has been seasonably warm the past couple of weeks. the odd grey clouds, a bit of rain but nothing to really put a dampener on things. tourists are following their guides round gdansk, groups in their yellow baseball caps are out and about, chairs and tables are appearing on monte cassino, the stages are set up for the summer concerts and the performing artists are standing still on their boxes. the summer is starting and the tri city is coming alive after the winter's dormination.

the magic of this place is a choice of three cities, connected and blending in to one. the historic splendor of gdansk old town, the bohemic vibe of sopot and the modern creativiy of gdynia, all seperate cities, all mixed in to one.

but what really makes this corner of poland special is the beach. the miles of clean white sand, bike paths running through cool forests bordering the beach, clean clear water of the baltic bay, bars that suddenly appear and stretch beach life late in to the night, little fish bars, freshly painted and wafting their delicious smells, groups of locals relaxing on the sand enjoying a quieter pace of life, swans that gather round the peir in sopot, lights around the bay that shine up as dusk falls, welcoming in the evening's fun

visitors are surprised by just how much the tri city has to offer - poland is still an unusual tourist destination for many in england. the thought of walking barefooted along the sands of the baltic bay, as the sun sets and the music from sopot fills the night air is not what they expected from a friday night in poland.

thats when they turn to me and say "i can see why you live here, its nice"

those of you traveling with wizz over the summer can read about our road trip to hel, and back, in the inflight magazine.

News / Polish "brainbox" comes back to Poland from the UK for a better education [77]

If you understand and cannot recall the subject what value does it have?

there is a significant difference. if you had benefited from an education that demanded more than repetition you might be able to see this

How can you critically think if you ignore the data on which you have to think?

i said nothing about ignoring data. this is indicative of one of the biggest differences between polish and english mentality. the british are able to structure sound and logical arguments based on fact. poles tend introduce concepts that are irrelevant to the argument or, as in your case, introduce something totally unrelated

Why is memorizing bad,my friend

theres nothing wrong with memorising, mimicking what youve been told. parrots do it and they are very clever birds.

a good education is not about memorisation. a good education is about learning, understanding and being able to critically think, note repeate from rote... like parrots

News / Israeli youths misbehave in Poland ceremony score [47]

here is an extract from another article in the jerusalem post.

the article is about "Israeli and Polish children filling the air above Warsaw with kites on Tuesday in memory of famed and martyred educator Janusz Korczak, who fervently believed that every child should have a kite"

"The kite represented for Korczak the right of every child to freedom and happiness. The joint kite flying of Israeli and Polish children testifies to the victory of hope and love for one's fellow man over the regime of fear and evil."

I'll take an illegal pole over a Mexican't anyday!

yeah but think of the food mate.

one one hand you have a plate of soggy, starch filled pierogies with a side order of grated cabbage and on the other you have a plate full of fresh and flavoursom ingredients, with a side order of jalapenos

seperates the men from the boys really

UK, Ireland / Man found guilty of the kidnap and murder of his former Polish girlfriend [23]

I don't speak ill of the dead too often but greedily trying to claim that grand was a bad mistake, a dear and costly one.

my thoughts exactly.

unfortunately there still remains the belief amongst certain elements of the british population that we didnt build our empire by letting foreigners take the p!ss out of us
