Life / What kind of horses are popular in Poland? [21]

Are the friesians from Spain?

They from Holland, originated in Friesland, a province of the Netherlands.
During the middle Ages the ancestors of the Friesians were in great demand as war horses throughout Europe. They were very strong and able to carry knights and their fat asses in shiny armor

Life / What kind of horses are popular in Poland? [21]

The husars probably had friesian horses.
Anglo-arabians, arabians, wielkopolski, śląski, małopolski, huculski, konik Polski and the thoroughbred are most popular in Poland.

Our troops will be coming home soon and they will need jobs. We don't need anymore illegals taking our jobs away. What kind of visa you planning on getting?

UK, Ireland / 10,000 Poles in UK for free abortions [58]

People should be responsible for their actions, and killing an unborn child is not being responsible. Being responsible is either not having sex in the first place or use a condom or other birth control means. Once a life is created it is not right to kill that "mistake". This "mistake" started before this life was created, and it was by being a slut or whatever the reason and I am strongly against abortion because people should learn responsibility and morality. And this is not only a woman's issue, the guy who did this to a woman should be responsible for his action. Not throw away a life like a piece of garbage.

Life / Moving back to Poland after 20 unhappy years in Canada and USA [70]

Do you have a Polish accent..

No, because English was my native language.
They do teach different things in Poland earlier, but in the US everybody goes to high school, then college or technical school. They go to school longer than in Poland, where after 8 grades some continue their education in a liceum which is equivilant to a mandatory high school in the US.

State.
Both countires are beautiful, have a lot to offer, but I prefer the people in the US. Poles are too depressing. I hated going to school in Poland. Teachers always crabby, putting you down, making fun of you in front of the class, humiliating. They don't encourage you to become sombody, it's always "you'll never succeed, you'll never be good". Just depressing.

In the US school is completely different. They encourage you to become somebody, there is more freedom which you are not forced to do as an order, but with this freedom, positive influnce you want to become somebody.

Just my experience. :)

10,000 unwanted children

There are more than 10,000 people who would adopt this "unwanted" child and give it a far better home than the parents can even imagine.

Life / Moving back to Poland after 20 unhappy years in Canada and USA [70]

A family I know lived in the US for about 9 years and recently moved back to Poland. The father stayed behind but the wife and two children (18 and 8 - one was born here) are soooo happy to be back. The oldest boy never could "fit in". Once he got back to Poland he is happier than ever. His mother always felt like a stranger. She has never learned English, didn't live in Chicago, where you don't have to know English, so she always didn't feel like she belonged. Now after going back, she is so happy she did.

Language / Jechac or Jezdzic? [35]

These sound like Russian sentences. Lol

Ja pojadę jutro ku Londynowi

Ja pojadę jutro do Londynu

Ja jeżdżę pociągiem każdy dzień do pracy

"każdego dnia" or "w każdy dzień"

Ja idę do sklupu

"sklepu"

Language / Jechac or Jezdzic? [35]

Morse confusing examples:

będę jechać na koniu - I will be riding a horse - future tense
będę jeździć na koniu - I will be riding on a horse - present future

USA, Canada / No US Visa Waiver for Poles - 8/9/07 [96]

Actually a lot of the illegal ones have or are leaving

Good, I hope they do.
The US dollar is gaining and they still overstay their visas. Prices from US on LOT are about $350 now, which is very reasonable, considering in the summer they are about $1200. There are still too many of them illegally in Chicago.

I was listening to a Polish talk show radio this weekend in Chicago and this Polish guy wants to buy a car but doesn't believe the mileage is accurate so he asks if the dealer turned back the meter. In US this is illegal but in Poland it's commonly done and unfortunately they bring with them illegal and dishonest ways.

Food / Polish Milk, Just not the same [54]

Then I boil it

Why do people in Poland boil milk?
Best milk is cold.
In Polish schools they serve boiled, warm milk. Tastes horrible.
In US they only serve cold milk.

Life / WHAT ABOUT THANKSGIVING (ŚWIĘTO DZIĘKCZYNIENIA) IN POLAND? [52]

So how many days off (in your opinion) do we have in Poland?

Don't know about that one, but I do know that in Poland a woman gets about a year off work to be with newborn baby. In the US it's only 6 weeks, unless you have some sick days saved up, then it's up to 3 months.

Then back to work.
