Food / Sausage. YEAH BABY!!! - translation and food [14]

The problem with Polish sausage is what to do with it. In England they fry or grill their sausage. Here in Poland an Englishman might turn his nose up at a sausage that has just been boiled or is eaten cold. Part of the problem is what to expect when offered sausage. From the English point of view are you expecting something like salami or a typical 'banger' ?

For me a Polish sausage is neither of these
.

I quite like to fry polish sausage with some onions- really good:)

bolo,

Huge sausage for a a big sausage party ...

I don't know if many english would like polish sousages?

My husband quite likes polish food but when I gave him polish sausage ( proper smoked one ) it seemed to be too strong flavour for him.

Work / Italian girl moving to Poland, where I can ask for a job? [60]

Few people have any interests aside from TV, the opposite sex and of course money. Money is all that anyone is really interested in, and they talk about how much you earn to the exclusion of virtually everything else, except rising house prices...

REALLY???? What are the subjects of conversations in UK or Australia?
How many pints of beer you can drink at one night? with how many girls you slept? That is what can be usually heard.....plus maybe some football talkd and lots swearing.

In bar in krakow or Warsaw conversation can be much more interesting but maybe it is too sophisticated for you???

Except in the heart of the big cities, the bars (the few that exist) are almost always empty or full of drunk men who haven't washed in a month. The countryside is even worse....

Maybe in 70-ties not so much now.

UK, Ireland / TELL US WHAT YOU LIKE/DISLIKE IN UK [51]

keep hearing that English food is horrid, traditional english food is good it just all the rubbish that's bland.

I agree with you but it is more and more difficult to get traditionla english food.

I suppose the best advice is to cook something traditionla at home.:)

I don't mind so much weather in England. In Poland if it starts raining it rains, rains......if you have to walk a lot your shoes look dirty and awful.

In England you have showers than everything evaporate so quickly. That is why air is always moist and it is so green everythere. You don't have much mud here as everything dries so quickly.

What I miss is probbaly more sun. There are so many gloomy, grey days without sun.

AntiMonoPole

For me you sound little miserable.
Each country is different each region of the same copuntry is different.

I was living in Krakow and didn't see so many miserable people like you. And yes in krakow there is so much to do theatres, cinemas, operas, exhibitons, bars, pubs, restaurants......always something going on in main market.

If someone wants change there are short trips to "skalki" not far away or Zakopane ,Tatra mountains, Beskidy,Wieliczka ......

I would agree with one yes people are quite family orientated in Poland and if after 30 someone needs close circle of friends otherwise it can be difficult.

UK, Ireland / TELL US WHAT YOU LIKE/DISLIKE IN UK [51]

I like politeness here, people are in general heplful.
Since moving here I calmed down - I like this little sarcastic attitude of British people to everything here.Weather is ok, similar all year so I don't need 2 different clothes for summer and winter.

I don't like food in UK tasteless and artifical. Public transport in Pereborough is awful- much better in Krakow.

Living condition- ??? Economical situation is better here , more work opprotunities, more money.

But with lots money I would prefer to live in Poland in UK everything is private, artifical....you can't go to the woods to pick some mushrooms , blackberries....or fishing ....I find it quite amusing catching fish and putting it back to the river. You can't even buy apple without "perfect" size and shape.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

British peoples never face any problem with us. Have your ever heard any where in the NEWS problem with us. NO you can't show us that.

What is the point of comparison?

Britaun never opened border for you so how many illegal immigrant can come here form Brazil....sorry I forgot about yoy on SPECIAL TREATMENT VISA.

You ( polish) are making all trouble.

Really?
Quite childlish and full, of prejudice attitude.

I don't know where you live but in UK ask any british peoples regarding polish peoples and you would get the real answer

really? I never heard any nasty or racist comments except this forum.

Love / Polish Women to be nice respectful [59]

I was born to 2 Catholic Irish parents, for me religion causes too many problems in this world as it is. I think it comes down to the individual at the end of the day.. Oh and i prefer Rugby..!

You Decorator remind me my colleauge from student's time-he always prentended to be little worse than he really was. but I think that you are quite a good boy :)

Rugby???? I am not so good at rules but rughby players? some of them quite are good looking.:)

I'm not sure, we're just a close family and enjoy each others company, we have good banter and dont sit round the TV - the art of conversation hasnt quite died off in our family.

You seem to come form nice family. It is strange as I am the only child I had always lots friends who came from bigger families. My best friend has 4 sister and 1 brother.

I like all of them they are so close and they really help each other a lot.

When I read my posts I can see my spelling is awful. I will have to improve it.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

Right, so who is responsible for the lack of management and control of the introduction to the Polish workforce? The British government! They are who you should be directing all this emotion towards, NOT the Poles and certainly not every other ethnic group that live on this little island of ours!!!

First time I agree with you.

This all blaming polish, polish anly grow hostility and tension nothing positive comes out of it.

I ma polish but I came here 4 years ago had was granted permanent visa - had appointment with biritsh consul.
I live and work here but I am not br citizen.I could apply for british passport now as I am married to british person but I don't know if it is so necessary. In the end of the day I am polish.

Since these 4 years my impression is that England is getting more and more crowdy. It is not only polish it is emigration in general. When I go to town on saturday morning I struggle to hear english language on the street. I could believe that English people can feel sometimes intimidated in their own country.

But as your government opened borders..... I also understand polish people lots of them will come back no doubts about it. Most of my friends have good jobs in Poland and they come here only on holidays. But I can understand people who lost jobs, young people who just started life that they are attracted to England as it is still easy to find work and value if pound is high. It is main attarction economical stability and value of money.

Love / Polish Women to be nice respectful [59]

Maybe I shouldn't say it but maybe it is connected also with religion?
You come from catholic family so family is important for you. I don't know much about Irish culture but even watching some irish films they seem to be very family orientated.

I heard someone saying in my work .....oh religion is dodgy....She doesn't know anything about it just completely indifferent ,shallow attitude.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

45,000 "undesirable" criminal migrants from Poland and Bulgaria may settle in Britain next year.

Why next year they could have done already?????

Whom do you blame for it? It is quite funny instead of putting pressure on government who opened borders for everyone it looks that all polish are guilty.

I think that with all this nasty attitude tension between polish and British will grow.

What about Brasil I think there are lots poor people there what if UK opened border for them? What would they do?

Just government needs shake that is all. It looks that England was quite happy before to invite polish doctors, dentist educated in Poland for polish funds

Love / Polish Women to be nice respectful [59]

.
I think that it is the culture now ....... It can change for next generation.

It is true Shelley about size 8 clothes and size 16:) it looks awful.

There is one thing about culture here I don't understand.

It is only my observation but it is obsession about children, having children talking non stop about them ( ever so boring some women in my work they don't seem to have anything more to say) Everything is so materialistic Christmas shopping from September.....buying buying things for children they not even enjoy it so much. Is it buying their love?

Then children get teneegares start swearing at parents move out very young and that is it. Something is missing like bond between parent and children which I think is much stronger in Poland.

Unfortunately polaca, what I think you may have experienced during your time in the UK is our 'wonderful' new chav culture.

A lot of the teenagers nowadays (and up until their early 20s) are walking around jobless, pregnant, drinking, smoking, foul-mouthed, wearing lots of gold Argos 'Elizabeth Duke' jewellery, stripey Burberry clothes, tracksuits, and so on.

Yes, it's the stereotypical chav image, but my God, I see it so often whilst out and about that sometimes you realise the stereotypes are in fact true!

It is true Blur,

That is why when I will get old and vunerable I want to come back to Poland.

but in fact i think polish women are much better than british.

I wouldn't say so.

I would say that lots of british women are too comfortable but they were brought up this way.

And yes cooking is not their strong point. I don't know why??????
My husband's mum is retired she is good cook and she buys canned soups from tesco?

On the other hand in Poland saying...noone will marry you if you can't cook.....is quite actual.
Which put woman in a position of man servant a little.

Life / I'm a Polish immigrant. And I'm not going back to Poland. [40]

it is upsetting really.

I moved here over 4 years and was always saying that people are so tolerant here. Noone was hostile towards me because of my nationality.
I know that emigration is too big now, but these posts are just radiculus.

Love / Polish Women to be nice respectful [59]

it depends.

I know polish woman here who has 2 sons- they moved to UK as small boys and were educated here. Older one married polish girl, she moved here just after graduating in Poland and found good job here.

Younger one will marry in September with half English girl. It is ok but I wouldn' say his mum is very happy about it.
They are big polish family, having big polish Christmas, Easter here. This girl doesn't much eat polish food doesn't speak polish.... just different culture. I think she doesn't even make effort to be more accepted in his family.

I think that this woman would prefer her son to marry polish girl. But as she said they love each other , are happy together so she accepted it.

Another example polish woman little lazy married English man with good job and salary- she doesn't even want to work.

I'm not paki and i'm not muslim but i would still prefer them then those europian.

Especially living on benefits, in closed areas don't asimiliting in UK even don't bother to speak English.

it is not very logical what you say.

What about polish emigration after war? next generation is british you can't distinquish them. The same will happen with next geberation of polish who decide to stay here.

And pregnant women coming here? Sorry people are people it is gqp in your law and they take advantage of it .
Why don't you blame your overgenerous with public money Blair or Prescott to busy to play golf and play with his women(:)

Buldog,

I think yoy also read quite much of daily mail.

Life / I'm a Polish immigrant. And I'm not going back to Poland. [40]

I think it depends on perosn and age she/he emigrated.

If someone emigrated as a child with parents this person will finish school abroad, find friends there and stay there. It is his homeland even he was born in Poland. These popel are sometimes interested in Poland want to visit parents homeland but that is all.

If someone moves as adult he will always have some nostalgia but again it depends on personality some people easier get used to new environment some

It makes me smile when someone says that when visiting Poland everything annoyes him. It is the same everythere- awkward rules in England, bad NHS, overpriced houses.....and USA?

I was there ones for 6 weeks I liked there a sa tourists but I wouldn't like to live there- my impression was that it is quite racicit place there, much more than Europe.

And the law? all strane rules? I wouldn't say it is free country.
I was reading yesterday that woman in USA was taking crack as pregnant and child was stilborn.
She got 12 years prison sentence for "killing "- ? It is bad what she was doing but they don;t even know if it was a reason.

or a captain cook only (look), you live where you feel at home and what suits your lifestyle.

lef,
It is quite shallow statement.
not everyone thinks so.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

may be you are right because i dont have a problem with any other nationality ,just the mass influx of the poles.plus i had to give up my home i had lived in 20 years and was forced to buy a property much higher priced to get away from the polish neigbours from hell ,the police ,environmental health etc didnt want to know they were scared of being classed has rascist.we even tried to be polite and get on with these people but they trashed our car ,scared my children and dont say they were a minority because everyone i have spoken to with these people livng near by have said the same thing ,when you have properties being occupied by 10 or more lads this becomes a problem ,trouble is they get away with it and its party night eveynight .

Strange I thought that England is full of young british yobs who intimidate other people. Police do nothing about it. You are unlucky to live in a house with 10 polish who are not very nice.

But it is little funny to judge all polish by this.

and Wht don;t you blame the landlord for this? I guess it is not very nice area in general that landlord doesn 't even bother.

Life / Black people in Poland [357]

My brother in law is a black Zimbabwean who went to Poland to study. He was forced to leave halfway through his studies after being repeatedly spat at and abused for nothing other than his skin colour.

And in "tolerant" England quite a few black boys were killed by "tolerant white english" boys just for colour of their skin.

Real Estate / flat community charge in poland [5]

In POland it is much cheaper than in England. It is quite normal price.

In England this service is over-priced.
If you have to pay about 100-150 pounds community charge I am not surprised that houses are much more popular in England than flats. ( Maybe except big towns like London)
