Language / What is the name for "I would", is it conditional mood or something else? [12]

"I would" is the conditional form of 1st person singular.

One of the most commonly used in Polish is probably conditional form of 1st person singular of the verb chcieć; 'chciałbym' (I would like).

In the same way, You would is the conditional form of 2nd person singular (and plural as well actually).

Life / Are Polish people absolutely obsessed with money? [30]

if you dont work hard then you will have nothing!!!1 house and 2 cars its nothing!!!everybody have that.so lazy men out of the pub and go to work to do overtime!!!

If you work 12 hours a day you don't have a life. It doesn't matter if you earn a lot, you don't have any time to spend the money. Some people work where very hard for a short time, if they want to buy something, travel etc., that's something completly different.

I believe when(ever) we reach some level of wealth we start doing the same things as other nations. Traveling, sightseeing, developing hobby etc.

Yes, of course, these days you can see a lot of Poles go on vacation abroad, even outside Europe. Of course they want the same standard of life as everyone else.

Life / Polish Birthday Party [10]

Or just do it as you want. It's probably difficult to define the typical Polish birthday party. A know some teenagers who throw a party, drink some (read much) alcohol and eat some chips. But that's probably a little too early for your kid. If you want to make a cake and give the kid a gift, just do it. As you know, nameday is more celebrated in Poland than birthday.

Life / Diabetic health care in poland [6]

I'm also Swedish (but I don't have diabetes).

I think your Swedish insulin can be send to a pharmacy in Warsaw. I have a friend in Sweden, who lived in England for a while, and the Swedish Apoteket sent her insulin to a pharmacy in England so she could pick it up there. If they can send it to England, they can probably send it to Poland too. Maybe you will have to pay for the transport, but it will probably be much cheaper than buying it all here in Poland.

Since you're not a Polish citizen, I don't think you will get free (or discounted) insulin here. And if you want to buy it here you must get a prescription (recept) from a Polish doctor. But if you want to be sure about the rules, call the Polish Embassy in Stockholm.

Life / Leroy Merlins Price Protection [41]

I bought an air conditioner for my flat. it was 998zl on Friday July 17.

On Thursday July 23 I was in LR and saw the same unit on sale for 679zl.

I went to the customer service counter and asked to get the difference in price refunded because it is now cheaper than the price i paid.

What? The price you should pay is the price on the day you bought it. Or do I forget something? So, if I buy something and then I go back later and see that they reduced the price, I can ask them to get the difference back? I have never heard of something like that. But I must try that next time. Sounds crazy but okey...

Love / How to gain the attention of a Polish man? [71]

Lennoxthecat, if you don't try you will never knew. Maybe it'll be success, maybe it'll be a failure.

I wonder if your brain has been cloned from Dolly the sheep.

No, my brain was cloned for Dolly. :) That's how I made it into medical school.

Love / How to gain the attention of a Polish man? [71]

well i really do not know much accept that i am very attracted to him and that he obviously is interested in the same things as i am (illustrating, tattooing) he has a sense of humour, maybe a little shy,i could be reading that wrong..

Just talk to him when you see him again, and then in the end, you ask if he wants to go out and have a beer after work or something like that. Don't make it too advanced, and try to relax.

Love / How to gain the attention of a Polish man? [71]

But it's impossible to say anything if one doesn't know anything about his personality. When it comes to English-Polish interactions, I think it depends (much) more on personality than native culture.

My brother is in a realtionship with a Japanese girl

For sure there is a bigger difference between English and Japanese culture than between English and Polish.

Love / Are Polish girls charity workers? [132]

Charity workers are out and about to help the destitute and needy ... and so are Polish girls.

Some threads say that Polish girls are gold diggers, some say that they're charity workers.

News / What needs to happen in the world so that Poland and Russia form alliance? [297]

western parts of Europe are already united in idea of assimilation and destruction of Slavs

You can't be serious? Give me one single proof of that.

What needs to happen in the world so that Poland and Russia form alliance?

If Poland needs to choose between Russia and Western Europe, it will choose Western Europe. That's obvious. But I think that Poland can have good relationships with both Russia and Western Europe.

And Western Europe has a much better relationship with Russia now than 30 years ago.

Genealogy / How tall is the average Polish Girl [18]

Northern/Central European girls are usually pretty tall. I would say that the average is about 165-170 cm.

Love / Is Polish girls' beauty a myth? [78]

I know verry well what is needed. But this is about unclear definitions. I don't mean the absolutely hottest girl in the club. I mean just a normal beautiful girl. So, if you prefer... let's change "hot girl" to "good looking girl", not to confuse anyone.

Love / Is Polish girls' beauty a myth? [78]

yet I haven't known anyone who gets regular guaranteed one night stands with hot girls with the kind of ease you are talking about, even in Poland.

I seldome go out to a club just to get laid. But I think all of us have ended up in someone else's bed several times after being to a night club. And honestly speaking, I can't say it was very difficult, and I mean pretty high rated girls. But I'm not saying that one can walk around and just point at the girls they want in bed. Everybody understands that, so I should not need to write it. But seriously man, how difficult is it, if you just want sex (and have some charm)? Come on.

I seriously doubt that you mean what you say.

I have been working at 2 very popular night clubs in Sweden. So I have seen this "game" more than many other people (both with and without alcohol in my body). I'm sure that I know what I am talking about. If you don't believe me - I could not care less.

easy to explain, some people here take it less serious that the others and they post threads to provoke a little and stir it all up just to have some fun. Actually there's nothing wrong with it.

It's better to go out and a get girl, than sitting here and analyze it. That was my first point. And this is one of my last replies on this subject. Or else I will (also) be one of those who analzyse this too much.

Love / Is Polish girls' beauty a myth? [78]

??

My advice to you is:

Take a few of your friends, go to a nice night club and share a bottle of vodka. Then find yourself a hot girl to go home with. Do it, instead of thinking of it. It's not difficult in any country, that's for sure. There is no point, my friend, to sit home and analyze girls. And I am almost 100 % sure that you agree.

By the way, I will take a motorcycle trip to Krakow 17th-20th of September, maybe I'll see you in the clubs then. By then you will probably have an answer to your own question.

Love / Is Polish girls' beauty a myth? [78]

Sometimes it can be fun to say a few words about things like this, usually in a less serious way. But I don't think it's healthy to analyze these things so much. I actually find it a little odd that people discuss things like these in thread after thread after thread. People must have other interests too, right?

I'm not judging anyone, but I find it a little strange.

And I think the answers to the initial questions in this thread are kind of obvious.

Love / What is your opinion on the Polish Ladies in Krakow? [82]

However the place is destroyed by the hordes of tourists chasing girls and all the ridiculous things they do.

I have heard too many stories about (esp. British) tourists in Krakow. If half of them are true, their reputation is probably, hmm, not so good... hehe. That's sad, because Krakow is a great city.

Life / Why Poles don't use Facebook? [43]

There is a European community, eupee.com, where quite a lot of Poles are members.

I guess many people thinks it's enough with nasza klasa. But I also know many Poles that do have a Facebook account.

Love / Abuse in relationships (my first Polish girlfriend) [216]

What the feck does absolutely neccesary mean? I have nothing against kicking someones ass if he can remotely defend himself, for those physically weaker you're left with other solutions, if you allow a situation to develop to a point where its "absolutely neccesary to give her a good swift smack" then you're a weakling cvnt who apparently lacks the character to solve it any other way including leaving.

What a load of bullsh*t! If you say that you would never use violence against a female, no matter what kind of situätion it is, you are wrong. You will do it, I promise you. It's an evolutionary fact. You'd beat the sh*t out of the amphetamine psycho how is going to cut your throat, If you know it's your only chance to survive. If you say something else you don't know what you're talking about.

Life / Filling Prescriptions at the Pharmacy [5]

Sometimes the doctor writes the number on your European Health Insurance Card if you are European. But it should work without number too.
