Genealogy / Photos of Poland... curious where it could be? [16]

opatowska"

Wow.. good eyes. Indeed, it must be Opatów then.
Could it be Saint Martin's Church, from the 12th century? It is very similar. Note the positions of its towers.

Genealogy / Photos of Poland... curious where it could be? [16]

The top photo looks much, much older than 1960. Perhaps 1930's-40's. That typical Polish street with a monastery or church in the backdrop could be any town in Poland. The only way you will find out the city is if someone recognizes the bottom picture as a specific church. Otherwise, it will be very hard.

There is some writing in blue ink on the bottom of the top picture. Can you please tell us what that says?

News / Helena Wolinska dead [90]

This is a good quote:

"The Israelis are extremely efficient in pursuing people they have accused of such crimes - and they must accept that other nations want to do the same. Morel himself stated that he was innocent of any wrongdoing, dismissing the allegations as an anti-semitic plot.

Another Jew who dismisses these allegations as an anti-semitic plot. That is a very useful wild card for them.

News / Helena Wolinska dead [90]

That is disgusting that the Jews have no trouble placing old concentration camp commanders on trial, but whenever another country attempts to try a Jew, it is utterly impossible. I believe if Wolinska and Morel would both be placed on trial, and found guilty, that would stain the Holocaust Legacy, and they are doing everything in their power to keep that from happening.

88 years old, and England claimed they would not deport her for "humanitarian reasons." So what about the 90+ year old German camp commanders?

The Jews were all innocents and angels during the holocaust, yet Poles, including the ones risking their lives to save them, are all monsters.
Someone should have exacted revenge on her while she was still alive. Perhaps a hanging would have done the trick, after a quick, makeshift trial in her home. It would still be better treatment than what Fieldorf got.

News / Helena Wolinska dead [90]

The witch is finally dead... but obviously she did not deserve to die naturally.

I hope she rots in hell for her crimes....I still cannot believe why England did not deport her back to Poland, where we would have put her on trial, and in prison for the last years of her miserable life.

Despite her involvement in Stalinist-era crimes she called to forget that period in her life and, in her own words, "not to disrupt her with this silly prosecution"

What a disgusting human being...

RIP Emil Fieldorf. You were a true hero, and never deserved such a horrible fate for your sacrifices.

That makes me very sad, too...

Sasha Strunin

She shows very characteristic traits of a woman from St. Petersburg. They seem to have a lot of blonde bombshells over there. Perhaps it is because of the Swedish influence.

History / Why official Poland attacked Serbians in 1999? Was it worth? [49]

it's very possible

Remember.. you aren't a Pole, or even a Slav. It's harder for a foreigner to understand the underpinnings. Quite easier to base a statement on what you see on privately owned television stations in Poland, controlled and manipulated by Jews and the government, and from occasional laymen that you come across with neutral feelings for Serbia.

You need to grow up, and be around the culture, traditions to get a real feel for the mutual respect and love these countries show.

The Poles can be very nationalistic and wouldn't have sided with the Serbians on a large scale.

Being nationalistic and siding with the Serbs is not a contradiction in itself...

Support from every day Poles for the Serbian cause is great. Same as in Greece.
There are many Zawisza Czarny's waiting in the shadows, for the right time.

History / Why official Poland attacked Serbians in 1999? Was it worth? [49]

But, Serbs established their own state in the country. Serbs and Croats living in Bosnia & Hercegovina hang Serbia and Croatia flags to their balconies not Bosnia & Hercegovina flag. Only muslims don't hang their flag because they don't want another war.

Ha ha.. their own flag? You are wrong. This IS THEIR state. This is their flag. Muslims do not hang their flag because they prefer cowardly terrorist acts instead of showing true face.

I believe, Bosnia & Hercegovina has not stabilized yet. Map will change again.

I swear on my grave, that if Albo's and Muja's began ceding rightful Serbian territory and murdering any Serb's that get in the way of their mission, I will not let my Serbian brothers down and be there beside them.

Rock, you are a sick man. You are encouraging murder of innocents, thats what you are doing. Theres not much hope for people with your mentality, and the only way these radicals will ever understand is by lethal force.

News / What did Poland get out of the wars and struggles for others? [1108]

The documents have been destroyed.

If so, why havn't they brought this to the publics attention? It would save everyone a lot of trouble. And why would they have been destroyed in the first place? Wasn't it just an 'accident?' Does the British govermnent make a habit out of burning documents pertaining to seemingly innocent cases like this?

There will always be historians seeking answers to questions such as yours.

Maybe so. But 100 years is a hell of a long time. British govermnent is very pragmatic in their approach. They realize that by then, these historians will most likely be working independently, and not in state interest. Who cares though? We'll be dead by then anyway, and without answers.

I am a cynic and tend to view such as a smoke screen.

I was being quite cynical in my original statement. Next time I'll put an asterix beside it.

Hardly surprising given the advances made in all of the sciences since that time.

Yes, but I meant after only the general examination. No detailed tests have come back yet, that will take a while.

Probably for good reason

Can you name me one?

it may well be another 50 years before these documets released

100 years, and anyone with a voice against Britain will be 6 feet under. Thats exactly what they want.

Naive

Is that not in EU's agenda? I don't believe it, either.

Actually there was a place for Polish servicemen in the London Victory Parade.

Where did you read this?

... It is also notable for the exclusion of all Polish servicemen; hundreds thousands of whom served in the Polish Armed Forces in the West as one of the largest Allied contingents. The 303 squadron was the only Polish unit invited; it declined because the invitation was not extended to any other Polish unit, despite Poland being the fourth largest European ally during World War II. Poles were expected to attend the Moscow Victory Parade of 1945, and the Allies did not want to antagonize Stalin, whose Soviet Union claimed Poland under their sphere of influence. This is considered one of the causes of the feeling of "Western Betrayal" in Poland

If you mean the 303 squadron, thats far from extending it to "all Polish airmen." I suggest you check your manipulated British sources.

Poles, not bothering to turn up...?

Never

Perhaps there is something deeper than just that, no? Maybe you need to do a bit of reading on the subject before making statements like this one.

Sikorski has been murdered.

We'll know for sure, soon enough. Tests on Sikorski's body should be back before January. Already there are some surprising differences between the British physicians examination decades ago, and results of today.

So can any British national tell me why the British govermnent has 'frozen' the documents pertaining to Sikorski's death for 50 years? If it was just an accident, what do they have to lose? I thought the EU strived for transparency? I guess not.

Obviously. "Poland: second to fight; first to surrender" doesn't have quite the same ring to it, does it?

You do not see the stupidity of such a statement?

Well not unless the currently accepted history of the Gliwice incident is completely wrong and Poland actually did attack that radio tower. If Poland didn't, Poland would be second to fight because Germany attacked Poland and therefore Germany was first to fight.

You have doubts about this? What happened in Czechoslovakia with the German Sudeten party? What about Austrian anchluss? If you have any doubts whatsoever about Hitlers tactics, I recommend you read up about them.

Much of what is known about the Gleiwitz incident comes from the sworn affidavit of Alfred Naujocks at the Nuremberg Trials. According to his testimony, the incident was organized by Naujocks under orders from Reinhard Heydrich and Heinrich Müller, the chief of the Gestapo.[1]

On the night of August 31, 1939 a small group of German operatives, dressed in Polish uniforms and led by Naujocks[2] seized the Gleiwitz station and broadcast a short anti-German message in Polish (sources vary on the content on the message). The Germans' goal was to make the attack and the broadcast look like the work of anti-German Polish saboteurs.[3][2]

In order to make the attack seem more convincing, the Germans brought in Franciszek Honiok, a German Silesian known for sympathizing with the Poles, who had been arrested the previous day by the Gestapo. Honiok was dressed to look like a saboteur; then killed by lethal injection, given gunshot wounds, and left dead at the scene, so that he appeared to have been killed while attacking the station. His corpse was subsequently presented as proof of the attack to the police and press.[4]

In addition to Honiok, several other convicts from the Dachau concentration camp[2] were kept available for this purpose.[3] The Germans referred to them by the code phrase "Konserve" ("canned goods"). For this reason some sources incorrectly refer to the incident as "Operation Canned Goods."[5]

USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

I'm not interested in how many German women Franek took advantage of with his ration cards.. although it would make for a hell of a story.

Let me elaborate.. how many bullets found their mark brother Franek?

History / UPA barbarian murders on Polish and Jewish neighbors during WW2 [150]

That is exactly WHY so many POLES have differences in their complexions. Some light, some dark, some in between . Mixed ethnicities

lol...

Ok, somewhere along the line, you heard that Poles intermixed with Jews often. This is false. As long as Jews have been living in Poland, there has been very, very little intermixing. They kept to their own communities for hundreds of years, and that is why so many were easily picked out by the Germans when they invaded in '39. Most still had Jewish names, Jewish features.. etc. If they had been intermixing, don't you think that it would be just a tad harder for the Germans to find them out??

Dark complexions... mixed ethnicities, this is true. But please don't get Tatars mixed up with Jews. Many Tatars have assimilated into Poland over the years, and that accounts for a large percentage of Poles being olive skinned, slightly slanted eyes, etc. Especially around the Vistula River..

As well, there are many Russians, Ukrainians, you name it, that have been interbreeding with Poles on Polands eastern boarders for centuries. Many of these people possess Asian type features because of the proximity to the steppe.
