Travel / "Ryanair cuts 11 routes to Poland" [29]

I don't know. What should they be in the first place?

It appears they've gone UP in Poland and that is why they are cutting the flights to Poland (yet seem to be opening up new routes elsewhere).

Travel / "Ryanair cuts 11 routes to Poland" [29]

It is very sad news. Pretty soon we'll be back to only one or two operators offering flights to Poland at very high prices. That's not good at all.

Travel / "Ryanair cuts 11 routes to Poland" [29]

Yes, 11 routes telegraph.co.uk/travel/travelnews/4571090/Ryanair-cuts-11-routes-to-Poland.html - from the UK to Poland are cancelled. I think it's time to purchase a boat...

Ryanair has become the latest airline to reduce its services to Poland, after it confirmed today that it is cutting 11 of its routes from March.

The cancelled services include those from Bristol, Birmingham, Bournemouth, East Midlands, Luton and Liverpool.

The airline, which has defied the downturn by announcing 23 new routes from the UK this year, blames the "unacceptable increase in navigation charges" in Poland for the decision.

Ryanair's cancelled routes

Bristol-Szczecin

Bristol-Gdansk

Bristol-Katowice

Birmingham-Szczecin

Liverpool-Lodz

Liverpool-Szczecin

Liverpool-Gdansk

East Midlands-Lodz

East Midlands-Poznan

London Luton-Szczecin

Bournemouth-Wroclaw

Feedback / Edit not working [11]

Most welcome.

You can tell if someone has edited their post because by the date and time will appear "Edited by: (usually posters name)"

Sometimes posters like to add in "EDIT" so that people know where their post was edited.

UK, Ireland / Danio (vanilla) yoghurt on UK market - help!!!! [25]

I know that you can get Danio in Tesco's in Edinburgh at the branch on South Clerk Street for sure and probably other branches too, especially the larger ones. My friend definitely buys it at South Clerk Street, I asked her today and she confirmed that. :)

Love / Ring Size - Polish - British conversion [8]

Most ring size converters only measure in US, British, German, Japanese and Swiss but they don't seem to show Polish. The Polish sizes are probably most like Swiss I think making her ring size a J or K. I am not 100% sure on that so please don't rely just on that. A good jeweller here in the UK should be able to convert for you.

UK, Ireland / ARE BRITS MEANER AND LESS HOSPITABLE THAN POLES? [79]

I have friends like that who are not Polish so I know how frustrating that can be. I usually solve this by sitting down and saying "right, who's going to the bar?" so that I am not first. Generally I keep out of rounds now.

I find when I visit Polish friends there is always food being offered, tea and plates of biscuits but less so when I visit Scottish friends. I have one friend who has a habit of having something to do when I arrive and she'll say "I'm just folding the laundry, make yourself a cuppa..." :D I don't visit her often...

Love / Help! I just don't understand him.. [36]

Oh one track mind! :D I've been friends with one guy for 15 years, are you telling me he's still trying to get me into bed? ;)

To the OP: women and men can be friends, not all the time but it can happen. Good luck but don't spend any more time on this guy is he is just messing you around. You're worth more than that. :)

UK, Ireland / ARE BRITS MEANER AND LESS HOSPITABLE THAN POLES? [79]

Also, when I'm in Poland I've stopped buying rounds as I realised I'm the only person doing it. People I know well are ok about it but all the others just take the p1ss. Its like they think they're being clever at getting a 'free' drink.

The first time we all went out in a group a Polish friend of mine was surprised that we bought rounds. She said at home people just bought their own drinks when they wanted one.

"Rounds" are just stupid, some people drink faster, some slower...

That's a good point. The slower people are "forced" to keep up. I buy my own when I am ready.

Love / Help! I just don't understand him.. [36]

But I'm friends with loads of people that are guys

Me too so I don't understand why people say it's not possible. I'm not sure how possible it is with a guy you were romantically interested in but each person is different and I am sure many great male/female friendships have sprung up from failed romantic relationships.

Food / NO TIME FOR TATERS, RICE OR PASTA -- TRY KŁADZIONE! [8]

All depends on the toppings. If they're swimming in a nice, thick, rich, meat or mushroom gravy or garnished with skwarki

Ah you see, you didn't say that before. ;) Now they sound more appetising. :)

Also, another real turn-off was the coin-operated gas ring -- something only the Brits could have invented.

Why a turn off? You put a coin in and you get your money's worth. I remember all through the 80's and early 90's that my grandmother had coin operated electricity. There was a box in her hall, high up by the front door and you had to slot 50p in every time it ran out. People used for what they could pay for rather than pay for what they used. These things were introduced after the war when people just didn't have the money. Even now people can opt for powercards and top up their money rather than be sent a bill every month that is usually rounded UP. Why pay for more than you use?

I've heard Poles say the Scottish jokes were thought up by the English to take the heat off themselves, because in fact Scots are far more hospitable. Any comments?

People say the Scots are more hospitable but who really has the evidence? I think Scots have the reputation of being more hospitable because really, we'll gather for any occasion. ;) Perhaps we're more social, who knows?

Travel / POLAND TRIP SEPT 2008 Some of my videos [10]

I think more people visited your thread than you think. ;) I certainly have been visiting it to watch the movies on more than one occasion as I don't have time to watch them all at once and I didn't post anything until now. They're great though and thanks for posting them. :)

Regarding linking youtube videos. Above the dialogue box as you type are a variety of buttons, click on the youtube one and past the link in there.

I have done a snapshot but I don't know how well it works, it's not my usual browser. ;)

Feedback / How come we can not delete our own posts ? And other questions... [26]

In order for it be hyper-linked it has to have a unique description. It won't work otherwise.

For example:
news.bbc.co.uk

Will not hyper-link because there is no description.

BBC Newsnews
bbc.co.uk

Does hyper-link because there is a description.

Food / What First Polish Dish I Should Make? [30]

Bare pancakes don't cut the mustard. Poland is full of nice sauces.

You're right, they are better with a sauce. Garlic and herb, mushroom, who knows. ;)

you can just put some sugar on it

I heard that a few times and tried it once. I don't like it and can't understand why sugar on top is used. It's a strange addition. Oh yes though, nice with Hungarian Goulash! YUM! :D
