I'm trying to find out how to get Polish Sat tv in Scotland. A friend brought a decoder over from Warsaw, connected it to a dish and hey presto. Trouble is, she's since moved to france and I've lost the contact details of the guy that helped her install it.

I don't have Sky so that's not an option. Any help appreciated.

Not all of it I agree, but that's actually the point...........by watching/listening to it, I hope that I'll be able to get a better handle on the cases and improve my very basic Polish. Trying to learn without being in Poland and hearing how the language is spoken is a complete nightmare.

I'm lucky enough to spend a fair amount of time in Warsaw, and always learn more just being there for a week or so than sticking my head in a book for hours on end.

Ask a Polish friend. ;)

I watch Polish TV sometimes and understand most of it. Especially if I can pause, rewind and play again. I get there in the end. I was hooked on Londynczycy earlier today on youtube. ;) Not just the English language bits...

That you do. I'll try to find out tomorrow who fits my friends. One of them might fancy a trip west. ;)

It wont help a bot, there is no point in wasting the money. At our age, our brains have gone past the point at which we can pick up language form the tv and the polish spoken on tv is so fast that it wont help.

Also the quality of polish programming leaves alot to be desired

I've just changed the website landing pages. The page you need is called European

Check out

Central Aerials Scotland

It is possible to get a fixed satellite dish and have signals from three European Satellites.

Ok, finally got the system set up - and it was pretty striaght forward but involved a trip to Poland to get the decoder and set up the account with Cyfra+ with a Polish address.

Once back home all I had to do was buy a 60cm dish and fix it to the wall. Locating the satellite was a bit tricky, but got there in the end. Connected the cables and Bobs your uncle!

The contract with Cyra was 520PLN for 15 months (Pakiet Podstawowy+), and the dish £30, say £140 all in.

Even taking into account the £80 flight, it works out a hell of a lot cheaper than some websites that charge £900 for the same thing.

Thanks for the help, hopes this is useful for others.

I'm not surprised, there are no Caribbean stations either even though we came here in the 60s :(...mostly african and middle eastern channels :(

I had Polsat but i didn't think it was that good, Cyfra's better :D, plus I can hear bits of English underneath the Polish translation when I watch movies on HBO =]

post an advert on gumtree and see if anyone can link you to a dealer in satellites there is one in Bournemouth that you can have either Cyfra+ or Polsat 13month or 29month subscription courtesy of between £250-400 which includes dispatch, decoder, subscription :)

Some polish tv channels are air-able on the wonderful worldwide web though far and few between

Whaere are all the english channels in Poland?

well if you have a tv subscription in Poland you get english language tv as i can switch between the two language fairly easy enough .... and most of the channels are the same as those found on Sky ie Discovery, Disney Channel, BBC knowledge, BBC lifestyle etc etc etc

I was hooked on Londynczycy earlier today on youtube. ;)

I have the whole series series two is possibly on the cards i also enjoyed Czas Honoru as well ... plus you can watch Londynczycy on TVP1 website all 13 episodes 46mins in length so a good few hours watching beats watching in 10min bursts on Utube
