I find BB's boasts and patriotism over WWII absolutely astoinishing. The guy is really proud of what Germany represented.

Hitler had an entire nation under some kind of brain washed state, and the ones that werent convinced had the evil of the SS to be afraid of. Its no real surprise that a country blinded by this type of secnario would do well in a war at that time. An entire nation working together for absolute war, planning, designing, researching, manufacturing, training - finely tuned for killing and evil.

How can Germans be proud of this history? Knowing that they were lied to, all contributing to mass murder, expelling Jews and then murdering them, (dont tell me the german people had no idea). Its just wrong, all the history is there now we all now the facts, but still we have Germans such as BB proud of it.

If i were a German i hold my hands up and admit, its nothing to be proud of.

Great Britian had an empire for 100's of years Germany only managed a portion of Europe for a split second in the big scale of things.

Excellent point... At the end of the war the Soviets were in no position to push west. They did not have the necessary manpower, did not have the logistics, and did not have the quality of air power that the allies had.

In the US? I don't know about great. Their products have a great reputation. Sadly, there's a huge percentage here where money is always God. However, the Germans will always be looked at with a level of suspicion and justifiably so. Look, we still get international criticism for slavery and killing of the Indians, which was well over a hundred years ago. We deserve that criticism. However, we didn't systematically try and eliminate races like the Germans did. Germans actually had a uniform process to ethnic cleanse.

In the early days of WW2. The German bund was very active in the US.. They held rallies in favor for the Nazi party. In early 1942 the US government cracked down on them. it was not long before they disbanded, and some were jailed as enemy agents.

As the war progressed, Americans of German decent were drafted into the US armed forces. It was not long before they turned into patriotic Americans. The older generation immigrants still symphasized with Nazi Germany. Most changed their views when their sons were sent into combat. In time one never heard much of it anymore.

yes and not just in NC where I live right now. Obviously it depends on your origin, Polish-Americans will always disagree with me and I don't have any problems with that. The World would be boring if we all felt the same way about everything. :-)
