Real Estate / Landlord in Poland sent us an 7.000 zl bill after moving out. Advice please. [5]

Ignore it completely, but for your peace of mind, prepare yourself a detailed file relating to this let. This should include dates, any monies paid, details when and how much, get copies of your receipts, bank transfers etc. and everything else you can think of, correspondence, phone calls or other people phone calls to him. You should have taken photographs of before and after of the flat - which I assume you have. If not get any photos which show the state of the flat.

Then totally and utterly ignore his bill, but save it.,If he wants to take you to Court, it will take him at least 2 years and he will have to prove first that he has paid tax on the income for the let (I am assuming that you have a legal signed document for the let). He has no chance, but is just frightening you. Every landlord has to do repairs after people move.

If he sends you another letter, go with it all to the police and explain what has happened.
I can guarantee that he is just frightening you and has no intention of doing anything.

Work / Creative jobs in Poland? [10]

The only way to get a job is to ask all businesses which may be in the market for hiring.

Real Estate / Home loan in Poland based on my US credit score? [15]

A person would have to have exceptionally sought-after skills to be able to get an employer to seek working permit for them. If the poster possesses such skills, then the only way is to find an employer to do the necessary paperwork. If anyone thinks that Poland is a cheap country to live in - they are very much mistaken. Without any family connections you will end up on the streets quicker than anything.

Genealogy / Skicewicz - Original spelling of last name [6]

Skiczuk - This is very unlikely to be a Polish surname, but it is a Slavic surname. Search on the web for origins of the name, then how often the name appears in different regions of Poland. Go further afield to surrounding countries.

Law / Child care on Poland 500 plus [4]

Read my response once again - 500 plus is payable (if you are entitled to it) from the date you apply. However, the claim for 2 children (1K pln) will only be payable from the date when 500 plus was due for the first child. For the other time span you will get 500 plus for the 2nd child only.

News / New Polish traffic laws [25]

As a pedestrian about to go on a zebra crossing - NEVER assume that the car will stop. Many people are killed when they are half-way on a crossing. It is better to wait and let the car go than demand your lawful rights as a pedestrian and end up dead as a result.

Study / Poznan University_Masters in Civil Engineering_Review & Job Prospects [6]

Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. Before you embark on a study in ANY University, you MUST make sure that the degree will count for something when you finish your course. You do NOT want to find yourself with a useless degree/Masters and nothing to show for it. Think carefully. Find out where the University is in the rankings, what are the chances that future employers will recognise it. Ask before you do anything, otherwise....do not grumble when you have paid, wasted your time and achieved absolutely nothing at the end of it. Remember that others will be going to Universities that count.

Law / Can I take my son to Poland? My ex partner has sole guardianship. [12]

It may all depend on who your friends are.
I feel for the father of the child who (according to you) has no legal right over the child. It is, in my view, his own fault that he did not marry the woman. The other way round the problem is for the child to be adopted by the new husband, but I don't know whether the 'sole-guardianship' father would have to give his permission to that.

Law / Can I take my son to Poland? My ex partner has sole guardianship. [12]

If one parent has Court appointed sole guardianship, then the other parent cannot take the child anywhere without the sole-guardian's permission. If you do take the child, this would be kidnapping of a child (a very serious offence) and you would be in real trouble. The full force of the law would be against you and the child would be brought back to the sole-guardian.

The only way is to go to Court and get shared/joint custody. Evem then you cannot take the child out of the country.

Language / Old Polish Vs New Polish [29]

Imagine that it is something akin to English 'thee, thou' which people still use in formal ceremonies and in parts of England where others just use 'you.'

Law / Registering Marriage in Poland [16]

I have gone through the marriage registration process. You will need the original of the marriage certificate, sworn Polish translation. If you can get a document with her mother's maiden name on (say parents' marriage certificate) translate that too. In Poland they like to put the parents names and mother's maiden name on the marriage certificate. Go to the office and they will tell you. There is a small amount to pay for the service. You will then get a Polish marriage certificate.

Real Estate / Rough idea on rental prices for Wroclaw, Poland [13]

Best thing to do is to look at Wroclaw (say gumtree) and find out how much property are being rented for and in what location. Then search for properties to buy.

Factor in that unless the contracts with your tenants are legit (i.e. signed in a notariusz office) you may find it difficult to get rid of unwanted tenants. This agreement should say how and when the rent is due and that you can ask them to leave for non-payment. Factor in any damage they may do, take thousands of dated photographs and make the tenants sign them before they move in. Get these photos to the notariusz as evidence.

Renting is not what it used to be - sometimes you get good tenants and sometimes you will wish that you had never even bought the property. The decision is yours.

Love / Giving a present to Polish girl i like [12]

ha ha, no Polish girls would rather have Gucci handbags, shoes, cars, houses....more concrete things. P.s. and this is to the girls - always get a dated signed paper from the giver that any item given to you is a present, never expected to be given back.

Life / Cosmetic surgery in Poland... [40]

This is true, but it is up to the man to satisfy a woman. When a woman finds such a man, she will forgive everything he does as long as she has him to hand.

Life / Cosmetic surgery in Poland... [40]

As ever - a bad worker blames his tools. Men with small penises can be far better lovers than those well-hung. They try that much harder. They just have to know what they are doing and not blame their lack of female company on the size of their 'tools.'

Work / Doctor with DNB from India, Poland doctor license requirements [3]

The problem with anyone of Indian descent working in Poland is this - you need to find out from others working in Poland already, if your services will be wanted and what are the chances of any clients Polish coming to you. Earnings in hospitals are pitiful, go on Polish websites and see, doctors went on hunger strikes to get more money. Do your research well before you even think of coming to Poland.

Life / Dentist prices in Poland [6]

I have used a dentist in Krakow, Poland. Drilling and re-filling at 200 pln is extremely reasonable, if you need root canal work it will be over 1K pln. I paid over 200 pln for each tooth extraction.

The EHIC card is absolutely of no use here. Please read carefully what the EHIC is for.

Genealogy / Wrong age on 4 marriage certificates [9]

It may all depend where exactly she was born, that is in which country. Have a look at map of Poland in 1902/04.

I have come across something similar before. When asked about ages, in Poland people usually say 'I finished/ended 17' which would suppose that they are now 18, but it turns out that they have just had their 17th birthday, so it is likely that when asked she did not say 'I am 17' but I have passed 17' and someone assumed that she was 18.

Unless you can find parish records (church records) to prove the actual date of birth, you are lost.

Also you have to find out what her parents did at the time of her birth in 1902, 1903 or 1904. If they were in service/working the fields for a landowner, it is likely that she would not have been registered until much later.

Work / Salary 18000 pln per month in Gdansk [10]

It seems a good salary, but you need to calculate the net (in hand around 12K pln), then accommodation (2K pln) and bills (1K pln) then cost of international school (4K pln) which will NOT leave you 8K pln for saving. Add 1K pln for children (500+).

Law / Property rights in Poland after divorce [4]

First thing is to gather as much evidence as you can. Get all your paperwork which shows what bills you paid. Get a good solicitor/lawyer to advise you. Do that now. Do not wait till your wonderful husband hits you or maims you or kills you before you do anything.

Law / Existing Polish bank accounts for clients without PESEL number would be frozen starting August 2019? [23]

I've found something about opening a bank account for foreigners:
mBank

These are obviously mBank own rules. Other banks just require passport or other identity papers.
