having worked a bit in market research and marketing I can assure you that those are 'loaded' questions - not a question of 'not being PC' more a question of skew and bias,

and very far from any academic standards that I have seen in my more recent work as an academic proofreader and editor.

Also what I really don't like is 'Englishman' when I suppose he is referring to the population of the UK. (ie English N Irish Scottish or Welsh, man or woman) I am surprised as I would have thought that educational standards would be higher in the Netherlands.

The funniest thing is that us English are supposed to be the uneducated ones of Europe if you listen to any Dutch or Germans, they are soooo superior!

interesting question tho polonius, many if not most of the so called "British" inventors were Scottish, Logie Baird, Robert Stevenson, Alexander Fleming..et etc repeat til fade ...have often wondered why this is so...possibly the Protestant work ethic, possibly the decision not to prioritise their language politically (unlike the Welsh for example).....

One is that the American language does differ from the English (UK) language. The way things are written and said is somewhat different, I don't know if it would be very tiresome to study in an accent that is different to me!

the differences are miniscule - if you want to study in Europe cos it is cheaper, obvs some things are going to be different - as you are already complaining about the possibility of people speaking english in a different accent to yours, i would say that studying abroad is really not for you. Your 'culture' is American not European.
