News / People says that EU bringing many nice things to Poland. Tell me about it [104]

countries of so called West faces lack of resources, in any sense. Being EU member, Poland agrees that all problems of so called west (EU) have to be Polish problems, too. In other words it means, taking from Polish children to satisfy children of EU leading countries, plus- children of other EU counties and plus- children of EU sponsored countries.

Emmm... You might have had a point if you were talking about Germany bailing out the Greeks or something a bit more sane but saying that the E.U. wants water from Poland because it is scarce in the desert is insane.

Water: The Forgotten Crisis

Making up scare tactics is not your forte, Poland wasn't even mentioned in that article.

Might as well talk about the melting icecaps and how it is the E.U.'s fault and how they need Polish cold winters to resupply it...

you are completely brainwashed by EU and NATO oriented media.

This is what this thread is about really, a crazy Serb that hates the E.U. and wants a "Slavic nation". And instead of debating the overwhelming good that the E.U. has and is doing for Poland you come up with an equatorial water shortage.

Of course I criticize Serbia(politics, whatever) where it is necessary.

I missed that, where have you done this?

UK, Ireland / The more subtle differences: Ireland/Britain v Poland [310]

If you look at my previous post what the Poles actually do is have the mixer permanently on hot. So the effect is just the sam as using a hot tap.

Yeah but I live here so I didn't believe that :)

So the effect is just the sam as using a hot tap. Now does that sound sensible to you?

Your comment doesn't sound sensible to me, no :)

I am not saying they are better than a mixer. I prefer mixers. Each to his own I suppose.

I am saying two taps are much worse than mixers.
And while we are talking about it, you have to have a special termostat mixer for the shower. I hate the cheap mixers where the difference between freezing and boiling is a millimetre, it's like cracking a safe :)

This is not a matter of taste, this is an opinionated fact :D

@SeanBM:
I am aware that Serbia is far from perfect, but of you here on PF are stubbornly following the cliche and the 'official truth' about Serbia.
I am introducing a different approach to the topic and counterweight to your narrow perspective.

So that's a 'NO' then :)

But seriously, just let them get married and enjoy the subsidies that brings.

Why shouldn't gay people be as miserable as married straight people?

The general idea is to fill the wash basin with water and to wash in that when it is the right temperature.

And do you do that every time you wash your hands?
I didn't.

The problem is with the user, not the system.

Naw, I think two taps are ridiculous not me :)

Real Estate / Debica Poland real estate - building for profit. [17]

Build your first one, rent it out for a while then sell it when you can make a more decent profit.

Or use it as a show house.

Use the profit from first place to move onto second.....do same and move to third.

It would take 50 years for him to finish if he sells one a year.
I am not sure that's what anyone would want but if he were to build one house, he would then know everything there is to know about building the other 49+ and could plough all his money in to it then, is what I meant.

If one house goes completely wrong, he could still walk away but if he starts with all his money put in, if it doesn't work out then he'd be in trouble.

My dad will take 5k per lot.

How big are the lots?

Real Estate / Debica Poland real estate - building for profit. [17]

I dont think we would get permission to build apartments,

Is there a general plan, is the land zoned or will you have to apply for zoning (farming, industrial, residential etc...?) if so what are the specifics?

Is there water, sewage and electricity connections on the plot?

I'm young only 28 with nothing holding me down in Canada

I appreciate your enthusiasm but there are many things you need to find out first.

Would you not build one house first, rather than ploughing all your money straight in?

I don't mean to sound nosey but how much will your father be looking for, for the land?

Another thing you should be aware of is that Polish technology is very different from others, I do not know Canadian technology for building houses but if it is similar to American, it is very different.

are close to the new highway that is scheduled for construction.

I was just looking at photos of houses currently being dismantled in Debica on the highway they are going to build.

@Wroclaw Boy
This is a very good post.

Have you considered building apartments?

And the worst thing is when they bring a glass of hot water and a seperate tea bag.

I have noticed this changing these days.
I mean for flip sake, you go to a resturant or coffee shop and you pay money and they don't even stick the freakin teabag in the hot water, WTF? :)

I have noticed this is many ex-communist country and I have asked people about it.

A bit less common now, but they used to serve hot drinks in a handle-less glass!

Yep and I don't understand how Poles drink boiling water without the milk to cool it down???

News / People says that EU bringing many nice things to Poland. Tell me about it [104]

The new wave of polish migration after EU enlargement

I think this has had a positive effect in several ways. They send billions of Euro back to Poland, I remember it made up a % of Poland's GDP. The unemployment rate went down in Poland because about 2 million people emigrated. Wages had to increase in Poland to keep the people from leaving. Work and experience that emigrants possibly would not have got if they'd have stayed. And then just the general freedom to travel and experience other countries. EU bringing many nice things to Poland >>>

Entrepreneurs conducted 14,500 subsidized projects with the total value of PLN 16.6 billion (EUR 4.7 billion).

Poland will receive 67,28 billion Euro from European Union for the years 2007-2013

The Polish tourism sector was funded with nearly 231 mln euro from the European subsidies.

European Funds

The two greatest things about the E.U. are the freedom to travel and the investment such as in improving infrastructure.

Man, for the 1.000th time. I am German and I criticize my country where I think it's necessary.

Have you criticized Serbia where necessary? ;)

you have wrong informations.

So you are saying that the Serbia officially DIDN'T applied for European Union membership on 22 December 2009?

That is strange because the negotiations have been going on for a lot longer and your government is still desperately trying to get in but for now, you'll have to wait.

Not that I am against/for Serbia joining but I think Crow and Sascha need to to take a look at their own country before pointing fingers;

Perhaps you could enlighten us, you wannabe Celt :)

You'd expect such scam to be all over the press, wouldn't you?

Most definitely.

I don't know what the OP's motives are but from what I have read, I have reason to suspect him of misleading people.

UK, Ireland / EXCHANGE RATES BETWEEN POLISH ZLOTY AND BRITISH POUND [73]

4.57 today looks like a revival is on the way

Yep. GBP 4,5950

What's the forum's views on the exchange rate at the moment.

You can look at the archive of NBP (on right) and see the level it has been over the months/years.
After that, your guess is as good as mine.
