Life / Feasibility and cost of a bicycle in Krakow? [13]

15 mins from my workplace by bike

You were really fortunate to have such a short commute. I'm sure the cost of the bicycle will pay for itself very quickly :)

Food / "Modern" Polish cooking (funny video clip) [21]

this cracked me up. Especially the ketchup, mayo.

Then he added chopped pickles. Kind of a 1000 island combo. That's okay... I'd still let him cook for me:)

Good looking guy!

Heck yeah!

Law / Is running a business in Poland very profitable? [33]

Is running a business in Poland very profitable?

I wonder how well Antiques & Collectible shops do financially. I'm sure they do exist; but I didn't see too many of them, during my visit to Poland.

Are there any other sites that might prove to be more useful?

On PF you can usually find apartments readily available for rent in Warsaw.

Love / Affairs don't pay - Poles say [11]

Affairs don't pay - Poles say

A poor man is supposedly more faithful to his spouse. Probably, because he doesn't have the money, to wine and dine a mistress.

Food / Cabbage and Noodles of Poland - Golabki? [30]

Hunter's Stew is really good.

I have to agree with you 100%. I can't wait to have some at the Polish Bazaar, during the end of September.

Life / Making friends in Poland - is it easy? [21]

If on holiday you'll seek entertainment and meet other for seeking the same

My niece went to Kraków last year for a week. Her Polish vocabulary consists of about 20 words. To her advantage, many of the people who has met there spoke English. She made friends with a few people right away. They all went to dinner together and pubs. She still keeps contact with them quite frequently.

Food / Cheapest grocery store in Wroclaw? [5]

Biedronka

Is Biedronka pretty much a self-service type of of food store, including bagging your own groceries? Utilizing this type of feature may help keep costs a bit lower to consumers.

What do you look for when planning a trip to Poland?

I like hotels that are walking distance to good restaurants. Having a nice lounge located within the hotel is a plus. I also need easy access to transportion systems; especially getting to and from the airport.

USA, Canada / Gift idea for something uniquely American that is difficult to find in Poland? [67]

something uniquely American

Give him a poster of Obama. JUST KIDDING!

You can give your friend a framed photo of a nice place, located close to where you used to live in the US. An ocean or mountain scene may be good. If you have kids, you can have them draw a pretty thank you card too:)

Life / Where are the second-hand stores in Krakow? [14]

The Goodwills, the Salvation Armys?

Lol, I also hoped to find great thrift shops, when I visited Poland. The closest things I found were an over-priced antique shop in Warsaw. They sold mainly jewlery and watches. The other place was an antique shop in Lublin. It looked good, but it was closed on the day I went there :(

Life / Mosquitoes in Poland [40]

so many mosquitoes this summer

I'm having flashbacks of the savage little ba$tards, nearly biting me to death last summer in Poland. I feel as though I've developed more insect bites, while making this post.

USA, Canada / Polish or American Education? [180]

I promise to post only in English. Although I'd love to know how to post in Polish;)

I say kill two birds with one stone. Start off by having the children attend a private Polish school, located within the United States.

Life / Poznaniak = Tightwad? [8]

No way, quite the opposite - Warsaw is by far the worst.

My cousin's boss is from Warsaw. He likes to brag about how much money he makes from his business.
He also makes it very well-known; he really enjoys spending his money too!
